So much of this album was written in a time when mental health wasn't taken seriously, it revolutionary in the way they show anxiety and depression, anger, all these emotions, at a time when there was a stigma around mental health, Metallica always been on the front with that, since fade to black on ride, I love this band and it's members, truly the greatest band of all time
people who hate the dissonance of this albums sound have never had mental health issues and it shows. this albums sound PERFECTLY personify the uncomfortable feeling of having uncontrollable emotional responses. is sad so many snobs snub this album just because "lol it sound bad and noisy"
Dear Metallica, if you will ever see this. St. Anger is a GREAT album. There ARE people like me who ARE sure as hell about that! And the sound of drums has NOTHING TO DO with "terrible" or anything like that. And I mean it. I love this record. As much as Load|Reload, as much as classics.
i doubt they´ll see it here try and write it under their own UA-cam channel, not punking you i agree i love ST.Anger prefer the DVD as for Load not liking that like Reload though
Honestly, if they kept the solos, it would have been a solid album with a little for everyone. A bit of that nu metal with classic solos would have been a pretty badass hybrid. Still hoping they make a remaster of St. Anger with solos.
I’m alive and well because of this song. Through a hard losing battle of depression over 10 years, this album which I would listen to every night, rid all of my negative emotions and left me with a blank canvas. I have since been able to rebuild myself into a much stronger individual than I could have ever imagined. Thank you James, Kirk, Robert and lars. You saved a life. I am forever in debt to you all.
I don't know what you've been through, but I hope everything is going well in your life, keep your head up no matter why. You have people who care about you, so don't give up.
I'm born in 1992 and i had to a lot of visits to hospitals. In my parent's car, there was always a Black Album Cassette (which is my favorite album). When I heard St Anger I was learning to play drums and i LOVED the sound! The metallic snare snound is what makes it my 2nd favorite album ever... Love this band so much
@@adriantrusca1245 that's the album I grew up with. 🤷♂️. Nostalgia for me. I watched the Some kind of Monster DVD with a friend of mine. He died in a car wreck a few months later. We were in 7th grade.
People that don’t understand St Anger have probably not yet been to the mental places people that do understand it have been. And that’s ok. Good for them. You don’t want to be here.
This shit defines me definitely. I saw this clip a year ago. Every since i watch that clip, I really saw me. These times I'm getting in hard fxckin' times. I know those things because of me. But I believe I will change and erase bad things and impulsives. Do good things.
St. Anger is the most underrated album ever! it's in my opinion their heaviest and rawest sounding album! it's filled with insanity and brutality. It's about the hard times James Hetfield faced. it's such a misunderstood album :-(
Moameth Dark Rider It's not misunderstood trust me People only hate on it because of the snare and because it's not a Thrash album And to be fair When I started listening to this album the snare fucked it for me too but I got into the songs and I realized the snare fits perfectly It gives the song an anger feeling But it's really an outstanding album It only gets hate because of the Thrash metal fans and good quality seekers
Alot of people overlook the reality that the band purposely had zero guitar solos on it. I hated it at first. Then, picked up the cd, w/a bonus cd of them ripping through all the songs for $5. I sure love it now...!
This song speak so true to my very soul, I sing word for word of this song for years, I feel this way every day and nothing helps me express it as much as this. Love this and it is one reason of many why Metallica will always be number 1.
I absolutely love this song and video. I have social anxiety, and this video/song explains it perfectly. Sometimes i feel music is the only thing that understands.
***** Okay. So please tell us why you're here? And why you can command me as to what my favourite Metallica song can or can't be? And why you're calling me things like "Sack Locker". Creative.
St. Anger came at a time when I had just dropped out of college back in 2003 and was totally lost about what I'd do in life and would often have suicidal thoughts... the only solace I found was thru this track which I could totally relate to at the time.. fast forward 20 years.. I'll be 40 in October, have a loving wife, 2 precious daughters, and a stable freelancing agency set up with the help of my best buds who I owe my life to.. Thank you Metallica and especially this track that kept me going thru some of my life's darkest phases...
One of the reasons I love this album is because it helped me through some shit and also the documentary allowed me to see more into their process and get to know them on a more personal level.
One of the best tunes from their discography. Didn't enjoy this album at all except this one diamond in the rough. Intensely gritty and emotional song by Metallica.
Damn this album is already 18 years old i remember i bought it when it came out heard it a few times then it just stayed collecting dust. This was like one of the songs i thought was ok tho.
I feel identified with this song as I experienced what it describes. Thanks God I was able to overcome it without harming myself or others, it's now a thing of the past.

the whole album is underrated
teufeltrashmachine Yes, the album is among my famous. It's even almost kinda conception record, like a musical about all James' lfe \m/
teufeltrashmachine Agreed
The entire album is too underrated. Definately one of my favorite metallica albums.
110%

exactly. for me the best albums of metallicas is St. anger. I love all the tracks, the record, lyrics, music videos and specially the drum.

I'm right there with you. I've been suffering well over 20 years. Each day is a struggle but this is my go-to song to help me
A boring, cringe, unskilful and weak stuff in one package, metallica.
I hope you are doing well now.
Took me 20 years to give this album a chance.
It’s so underrated.
It has some corny qualities, but I’d put it over load /reload any day
As someone who has had anxiety physically manifest itself, it's real and it's scary. These lyrics ring true. A hidden gem of a song for sure
It's very well written
James is such the philosopher
This album save my life

It saved me as well
Glad ur here

Deffo not my favourite but the nostalgia vibes are strong. I was 13 and just getting into metal. St anger was one of my first records
The worst album from such a very boring band.

A good song is one that you can relate to and that's why I love this album. I think it has arguably some of the best lyrics Metallica has ever had.
I absolutely love this song and video. I have social anxiety, and this video/song explains it perfectly. Sometimes i feel music is the only thing that understands.
People really dont appreciate this gem from St. Anger. Honestly my favs of all time are:
3. Hell and Back 2. Fight Fire with Fire 1. Unnamed Feeling
My 3 would be Orion, To Live is to Die, and The Outlaw Torn.
***** What.. the.. heck? There's a rule now? Is this some contest? It's still a Metallica song.

The people who think St.Anger sucks don't even know any songs from the album.
True
I do and I bought it the day it was released. It sucks. Apart from this song. Which is ace.
That's not true they know St.Anger
I think Sweet Amber is also good.
This Metallica band is boring af.
i belive that the unnamed feeling is all the feelings you feel put into one big feeling.

James looks so awesome with his handlebars, he looks like the old school James. He needs to grow them back so bad!
I freaking love this song and Pauley Perrette being in the video makes it even better.
This Album came out when i was in Iraq. and i didn't "get "this song until i got home. This is what PTSD feels like.

LYRICS:
Been here before
Been here before
Been here before
Been here before
Been here before
Been here before
Been here before, couldn't say I liked it
Do I start writing all this down?
Just let me plug you into my world
Can't you help me be uncrazy?
Name this for me, heat the cold air
Take the chill off of my life
And if I could, I'd turn my eyes
To look inside to see what's comin'
It comes alive, it comes alive
It comes alive and I die a little more
It comes alive, it comes alive
It comes alive, each moment here, I die a little more
Ooh, I die, I die, I die a little more
Then the unnamed feeling
It comes alive
Then the unnamed feeling
Takes me away
Been here before
Been here before
Been here before
Been here before
Been here before
Been here before
I'm frantic in your soothing arms
I can not sleep in this down filled world
Found safety in this loneliness
But I can not stand it anymore
Cross my heart, hope not to die
Swallow evil, ride the sky
Lose myself in a crowded room
You fool, you fool, it'll be here soon
It comes alive, it comes alive
It comes alive and I die a little more
It comes alive, it comes alive
It comes alive, each moment here, I die a little more
Ooh, I die, I die, I die a little more
Then the unnamed feeling
It comes alive
Then the unnamed feeling
Treats me this way
And I wait for this train
Toes over the line
And then the unnamed feeling
Takes me away
It takes me
Then the unnamed feeling
It comes alive, yeah, yeah
Then the unnamed feeling
Takes me away
Yeah, it takes me away
Then the unnamed feeling
It comes alive, yeah, yeah
Then the unnamed feeling
Takes me away
Yeah, it takes me away
Get the fuck out of here
I just want to get the fuck away from me
I rage, I glaze, I hurt, I hate
I hate it all, why? Why? Why me?
I cannot sleep with a head like this
I want to cry, I want to scream
I rage, I glaze, I hurt, I hate
I want to hate it all away
Then the unnamed feeling
It comes alive, yeah, yeah
Then the unnamed feeling
Treats me this away
Then I wait for this train
My toes are over the line, yeah
Then the unnamed feeling
Takes me away, yeah, it takes me away
Then the unnamed feeling
It comes alive
Then the unnamed feeling
Takes me away
3:37 this part gives me goosebumps every time 🤘🤘🤘
