Only once in the video did he drive the engine correctly. Most of the time the engine was struggling, and he was thrashing it. Only once did the engine rev smoothly from low to high revs. This silly display man drives all the unique bikes, the same way. Why make bikes different if You're going to ride them in the same way? Surely 1 of the bikes will fail to do a wheelie cause It's tuned to win races. We're not buying them cause they did a wheelie. That feature causes you to become a jackass and loose the race.

I had an ‘82 RM125 I bought new. It was flow ported and ran perfect. I sold it when I went to college. Wish I still had it.
A friend of mine rebuilt one of these sometime in the late 90’s. It was missing the rear shock, but we were twenty (and by that I mean we were stupid), so we decided to try it out anyway. I held the back end up to guesstimate the seat height, while he took measurements for the new “shock”. Cut a piece of steel, couple of mounting bolt holes and we were ready to roll. As far as I know, it was the only hard tail rm 500 in the neighborhood. We took it for a few rips up and down the road and that was enough for both of us. That thing was an absolute beast! Just terrifying. The lack of rear suspension didn’t do much to allay the fears either.
I was 17 when that 500 RM dominated the woods up at our cabin in northern michigan as i remember if you had a Suzuki Rm back in them days you were a bad ass.

I had one of these in the 90s. You could literally just hold it flat in every gear the engine would misfire and just stop pulling but not blow you could rev the ring out of those things.

YES! ON POINT! This machine not only looks new, it also looks authentic! The stickers, the shape of the fenders, all of it looks like 1979, or 80 what ever year it is! It fits the era and looks original. It gets hard to get exact or nearly exact fenders for these off road machines. Aftermarket plastic is easy to spot because it just is not the same. It is usually similar, but it doesn't fit right, and has been changed to look newer sometimes. You know what I'm saying.

one was a relative by marriage he was a bouncer in Chester back in the day when doormen wore dicky bows and didn't ask nicely...he stopped Enduro for a year ask me to start back up with him both of us fixing up a bike for me but tragedy struck and he was killed in a accident... GRT bloke he made that XR 600 of his look like a 125..his mate would come along with p e 175 but he never looked after the bloody thing..one time me+Russel had to carry the bike out of his garage because he'd been Beach racing the week before and hadn't cleaned it 4am carrying it out of his garage he just stood there and watched,he was funny though looked like the comedian Lee Hurst... GRT going to Enduro at a time when geraint Jones was racing on his husky....to street Wise for perverts but thanks for askin...haha 🤗👍👍👍...
Omg what a bad ass rippin machine!love the 80s blue and yellow!
When I got my 89 cr 125....... That's the first thing I checked was the bottom of the frame and not one dent in it.............the people that were around me at the time....... That pipe !!!! It’s like a beautiful thigh spread - that bike is beautiful- love the RM’s - 🤦♂️🤤🤤

Wow something about air cooled 500s sounds amazing what a beautiful rm 😍
This guy is the coolest, most rad dude on UA-cam! Thank you for the all the work you put into your reviews man! You're so passionate at what you do bro, and it makes watching your reviews that much sweeter! The bike is off the charts and the throttle response is insane! Great vid man! As usual!
I know u cant keep every bike but this Bike is so rare should be in your museum. It will never be this clean again. Someone's gonna buy it and destroy it. Would be a shame.
That's what fathers think about their daughters 🤣
Whoever could afford to buy it, most likely would cherish it...
I raced a 83 back in the day. Great bike. Smooth out the suspension is all that’s needed and go win. !
An absolute beast for sure!! A truly rare find. Lots of torque as well. Love it!
Awww,the sound & sweet smell of 1980's two stroke dirtbikes,,F'n AWESOME !!
That's a nice bike! It wanted to stay on the back wheel 🤘🤘 Best drug mankind's made.. 2 stroke
I've got a RM 250 G model completely rebuilt it,just love the sound & smell of a 2 stroke.
And it was considered down on power compared to the other Open bikes of the time..
I need one for my collection.
Just needed porting to pull the power through the rom range! Eric Gorr would fix that up quickly
@@terryfonz4603 Id love to see the stock port map. I could probably greatly improve it myself...
@@terryfonz4603 👍
I remember back in the day this was the bike to have!Absolute animal!
Love the early 80’s RM’s had an 82 250 I wish I’d kept it.
I I have an 82 RM250.. that I just finished restoring...
82' 250Z fastest motor Ever..
Wicked . 83 toned down motor.
Got my first trophy in 1983 on that 250z new leftover . RM never broke much.
mitzvah golem I was about 13 years old when I had mine early 90’s was a fairly wild ride 😉
@@Nudnik1 you ain't lying 82 RM is a hard-hitting engine but it's like an overgrown 125 it's all top end not much on the bottom drawer in the middle but when that thing hits on the top it explodes and revs to the Moon
@@navyseabee7245 Im about to restore an '82 rm250. It doesnt have 1st gear and its so used to klotz 28to1 it wont run on anything else but shes a screamer lol lots of potential
Dude you are one breath of fresh air and that bike is unworldly
I got raised on a 250rm I would love to see a pe400 and this bike,BRING BACK TWO STROKES
Rode one of these back in 1983. Was Ray Vandenberg's works bike. Ray was Australian moto champion for that year. Good to see a nice example here.
That IS two stroke Power without an end ! I Like this great Sound !greetings from Germany !
I still have my 1983 RM 500 I've had cr480 CR500 yz490 kx500 all between the years of 1980 to 1986 I I love them all but the rm500 was my favorite so I kept it and sold the rest only downfall is it 4 speed transmission
I had this bike back in the day, loved it.. Should have never sold it, I think I sold it for 1250 bucks 😔

@@LORDFOOTAGE2020
I definitely would, give it another 10 years and they will be VERY hard to get..
Enjoy..
I had the RM465 the year or so prior. Had the best suspension for its day. I even raced it stock, and I was only 5’7” 150lbs. So much fun
Didnt know rm500 exists, or a yz490 love this channel
RM's of that age were monsters!!
Ever been on a CR500? 😁
👍🇦🇺
The price is right microphone 🎤 is the icing on this legends cake.
Love this channel.
Kaplan America is just an all American dude, who lives what he believes in. His videos are inspiring...can’t believe how much he accomplishes
I was hooked after your XR75 video. That RM is in great shape.
"Let's bring it across the street and send it"! That's awesome!
With the pork chops
Those old air cooled 500's are the most fun you can have with your pants on. Kudos to the restorer.
Gorgeous bike! Love the old RMs!
I was in the 11th grade when his motorcycle came out both my brother and I were infatuated with dirt bikes at that time I had a Suzuki P400 I myself weighed 135 pounds skin and bone and rode this beast like no tomorrow!!! My SKINNY rearend was SORE at the end of EVERY day’s ride.... good ole times not forgotten
Next level..I have got to stop watching this channel,
it is addicting!!
I've watched this video like three times since it's come out. One of my favorite bikes!
Ken is the guy you went to when someone gave you a hard time growing up. I bet he was a bad ass dude, but a good dude.
I love seeing the bike wheelie and rooster tail at the same time, that itself shows you how much of a monster 500s are
Wow that's clean.... looks like its just come out the factory, absolutely stunning👍👍
My first bike was an 83 RM 125 Such awesome memories !!
Same here! Loved it.
nothing like rototillin fresh grass on a 500
I had an 87 CR500 Ditch Witch
@@eddiebones20 You're not communicatin.
I never raced, but grew riding. First was Yamaha GT-80, I fell over , broke the signal light 😅. Dad was scared to death I was hurt. Next was enduro 125 Yamaha, then MX 175, finally my first 2 stroke , KX125. Years 1974-82. Loved bikes. You guys are doing it!! I love all ole school bikes, cars, trucks. Hope to do business with y’all someday.
Raced 2-strokes as a kid in early 80's, i'm familiar w/all the enduro models you listed! Now, @ 54 I long to hop back on an enduro w/backpack and just get lost!
Release the Kraken!
My KX 250s ran extremely strong as well 79, 80 , 82.
The 79’s swing arm was metal art. Beautiful welds a gold anodized aluminum.
Bel-Ray MC1 by the case.
I had an ‘82 RM125 I bought new. It was flow ported and ran perfect. I sold it when I went to college. Wish I still had it.
Those early RMs were super easy to ride and handled great
So You're implying the recent models can't.
YOU can tune LESS stuff on the old bikes.
You're opposite to the truth.
Most of These bikes were RUINED by owners. They're still disrespecting them in 2020.
TEAM SUZUKI!!
I love the way the front fenders are real wide on the older bike's!!😍😍👀👀👍👍👁😊
What a beauty 2 stroke heaven you my sir have great taste! God bless you kap the energy is through the roof. She rips 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤟🏾
Amazing bike. Sounds amazing. Miss those days. Had a 84 cr500 that tried to kill me many times. Gotta love it. Could smell it from here...nice.
They sure as hell don't make em' like that anymore. And it's a damn shame too!!
The guy or the bike?🤔🤣
You should ride a new 2 stroke , they are a lot better handling and the power band is a-lot more predictable and not as “peaky” as the old 2 strokes .
They sure don't. Now they have power at half the displacement and are faster and better handling.
I was 17 when that 500 RM dominated the woods up at our cabin in northern michigan as i remember if you had a Suzuki Rm back in them days you were a bad ass.
Whoa burnout and a willy at the same time I've never seen can do that on his CR500!
Those big bikes are the coolest things on the planet in the way of dirtbikes!!! 2 strokes forever!!
That RM is a low tech power house wheel standing rooster tail blaster
Low technology? My arse. You make something out of magnesium.
You're FULL of disrespect.
@@dreyn7780 It was an air cooled reference calm down.
That is SWEEET. Love the yellow ones. Just sound angrier than the rest. Saw that in the museum when I visited. Loved it. I have a cgance to get an 88 RM 250. Needs restored. Might add it to the list.😊😊🤘👍
I had one of these in the 90s. You could literally just hold it flat in every gear the engine would misfire and just stop pulling but not blow you could rev the ring out of those things.
I have to admit that is one of the best sounding 500's I've heard and I think it's a wholeshot king love the way the bike pulls wow!
Why, why, why must you continuously taunt me with this amazingly awesome old school big bore 500s that I know I’ll never be able to ride, you are the luckiest man in America, ride on man
I have no place to ride anywhere near me. Thats why I sold my 91’ cr500 back in 98’ 🙁
Deano W, broooooo that’s the saddest shit ever, cr500s are fuckin amazing, my brother had a kx just a year back and I loved riding it, unfortunately he sold it
That’s a keeper!! Not many of those left. Beautiful bike.
I wanna grow old and be shredding at that age.... 🤞
YES!
