Kaplan, I've learned so much from you. Your knowledge is amazing about bikes. If you ever need to know something about the bible or Honda Fourtrax trx300s, lmk! I woulda bought this in a second Totally my dream bike.
I cant get enough of the microphone toss.😀 You guys are hilarious. In such a tough year, everything you guys do brings me joy. I restored my 1988 Fourtrax 250r this year because you guys really fired me up and awakened the 2 stroke beast within me. Myself and my eleven year old daughter worked on it together, because of you and junior. It was a true experience for her, and I am grateful that you do what you do, it has gotten us through this year. Thank you Ronald Tartaglia. 😊
Thank you Ron! That kind of positive impact on other people is why I do this it makes it all worthwhile I'm really happy for you and your daughter God bless you both
Same thing here. We didnt do a race machine, but you motivated me to restore a 91 Honda trx300fw in southern blue. My wife and I had the greatest summer working on it together. Look at how watching one of bn your videos changed the course of my life. That was in the spring. Now I have a small atv repair shop and I fed my family from it all summer because covid bullshit wrecked my other job. Keep it up brother! You do more good in the world than you even know!
"Just gonna run it through the gears so you can hear every gear."... LOL! I Just started watching this channel recently and immediately subscribed. Guess I'm kinda late to the game, but what an amazing thing this guy is doing for these vintage bikes, riders, racers and enthusiasts. Got my first bike ( 1970 Honda SL 70) on my 7th birthday. 47 years later and I still have that same excitement and love for cycles I had with my first ride. I've probably owned at least 30 different bikes of all makes and sizes since then. God Bless him for keeping the memories alive for us older folks, and these beautiful machines alive for the younger folks to appreciate. :)
@@KaplanCycles Thanks back, KAPLAN AMERICA! Just bought a gorgeous 2013 Harley Road King with only 5 grand on the odometer. Headed to Colorado this week, and then an East Coast trip on return. Hope to have some time to check out the Museum going through CT. Keep up the good work, brothers!
I had one of those.. bad ass to the bone. Hated the left kicker but I learned to live with it. My step son’s friends wanted to ride it so I told him if you can start it you can have it .... he left with a messed up foot.
I absolutely love my '82 480R. In the woods its 2nd and 3rd gear all day. I did swap on '86 cartridge showas and disk brake, "Ceet" safety seat (NOS), custom valved rear shock with '83 reservoir for adj comp damping, and wider pegs along with all the requisite off road protection for pipe, frame and levers. I kept the stock chamber but with a custom built silencer (need a Cobra SA yet to be USFS Legal) swapped to a Keihin Flat slide and V-Force reeds. The 480's do rip and sound, well simply, freaking awesome!! I would love to have that one in my garage next to mine. Great job on the refresh.
I bought a used one of those in 93, rode the woods and trails on it for 3 years. Sold it in the fall of ‘96, it was a beast! I had 4 kids by then and figured I better get rid of it before I killed myself on it.
During the 1980 Maico was the king of the open class. So Honda decided to purchase a Maico and study it. And the results were this bike. All the way down to the kick start on the left side and the drive train on the right.
I knew he would rip it lol. It’s almost impossible to ride a big bore bike and not let it eat a few times lol. The feeling of the power is too damn good to take it easy lol. Good shit!!
I just put my deposit down on this bike! I’ve never been so excited about anything in my entire life!! Ken, you brought back too many memories!!! You guys are awesome! Although my wife said if I watch this video one more time she’s going to burn my cell phone!!!
@@braydenbowen5492 It's sitting in my shop and I look at it every day and get a grin. I start it every once in a while to listen to it like you would an old country song.😂
I had an 82 and I loved it. It would climb telephone poles if you could hang on. First gear was a little tall for tight trails but fire roads were where it really came alive. Sweet to see one in such nice shape. :)
As a kid from the desert, I seen all these crazy rides ripping down the road just dreaming I'd be riding them. Years later, I'm shredding it up on a '80s bike showing these modern guys how it's done. My shit was engineered with graphing paper and slide rulers. Fuck a computer
Magoo ripped on those monsters!!..your videos are the best ken..can't wait to come to Rockville and check out the museum and hang out with all you nuts!!
My step dad broke a flywheel key on his and it ran backwards literally. Gotta love Chadwick Missouri riding area! It was only about 19 years ago and he was still ripping one. I think it was an 83 480 with the starter on the wrong side. Didn't appreciate it back then for what it was or realize how skilled he was to be riding that monster up the rocky hill climbs.
There's nothing better when watching a old vintage class on the motorbike track shit im 25 and have a 03 cr250 and I get goosebumps watching the old boys riding around that will be me and my bike then I get older living the drama I reckon haha
I was camping out in Glamis one time and a guy in our group had one of these. I had never ridden one before so I asked him if I could try it out. Got it out to a section where I could really open it up and that thing scared the shit out of me. So much power.

OH SHIT !!!!! That is such an amazing bike...and I’m a YZ guy ! There is just something about the model designation printing on the seat cover that I always felt was just a mandatory motocross bike placard. It just looks bad ass !! And tough as nails !! Banana sandwich 😂😂😂😂
When Bikes were real bikes, like riding a Bull with all power and know factory/tech. comforts. Had one about 89' and quite sure it was an 83'. We didn't care or know what we had back then if you had the riding passion. Remember a scary moment on a friends new 500 Kawa.. Just got it on Appalachian trail and hit full blast, banged all gears and ran into some serious high speed wheel wobble on trails gravel. I luckily rode it out right. Funny the "experts" now say the 480' Honda was nothing compared to the upcoming 500. Just watching the Roosts and wheelies with a tad of throttle leaves doubt and brings back some sweet memories of that certain Honda. All motor and pipe, High tech. suspension was the big padded seat ! Real nice piece and justice to her Guys.
Had the same bike used for trail riding was very hard to find any body to go riding with me. I was told by my friend's that if I continued to use this bike that they would no longer ride with me. They could not handle the roost. Lol

True. It gives you a vivid memory of your childhood like an old song 😬
I had a 1982 CR480 that I bought in 1984 as a leftover and it was still in the crate for $1,500.
Men rode that monster when “men were men” and had steel balls!!!
Big_Mike NYC and broken legs LOL
Back when men were born as boys.

Love when Kaplan executes from the holeshot position! Says a lot about the bike and rider. No doubt it. The man can ride 🇺🇸
Always loved the look of the 480's ! 👍
