    Nice video, It wouldn't hurt to put a little silicone grease on the guide pins while you're at it.

    New white spirit + clean kitchen paper towel works well as a ( new disc ! ) degreaser , ( if you do not have the spray stuff ) but never use paraffin as it leaves an oily residue ...... try not to get it on the rubber seals , though ( tried - n - tested ) ........

    Have you used a standard jack and two axle stands to support the vehicle? Where are the positions where you placed the stands? Thanks in advance.:-))

    • @fixanddrive
      @fixanddrive  3 роки тому

      Yes used axle stands. I placed them in the point where the whisbones start, more or less where the bolt holding the wishbone is located

    90 Nm for the caliper "flange"..seems a lot. You read It on the manual ?
    I have to do this by myself.
    Thanks for sharing.

    Hi. Can i ask what does 5 Nm mean ? Thanks.

    • @fixanddrive
      @fixanddrive  6 років тому +1

      The Nm value shows how light or heavily you tighten a bolt/nut. To measure this value you need a torqure wrench, like this: ua-cam.com/video/Uo83JvjAVjI/v-deo.html
      5Nm is almost nothing, you could tighten a bolt up this value almost with a hand.

    What a bodger. You can't use second hand brake parts, you'll kill someone.

    Don't think any good breakers yard in the UK will sell you secondhand discs?
    What next using secondhand oil because it looks ok
    Always always fit new brake discs and pads if replacing them
    The few pounds/pennies you may save are not worth it yours and other peoples lives depends on your brakes working correctly
    Brakes are a safety-critical item and you should not cut corners
    For all, you know the secondhand brake discs are warped and will give brake judder
    Just hope this clown is not near me when he needs to emergency brake to avoid a collision/pedestrian

      They were almost brand new.

    • @richbrown8174
      @richbrown8174 3 роки тому +1

      @@fixanddrive They might be almost new but they may be warped or cracked
      I wonder what your insurance company would say if the knew you were fitting secondhand brakes to your vehicle?
      Think of the liabilities you are opening yourself up to when you do a video like this?
      Don't get me wrong I enjoy watching these how-to videos as they can be informative just think of the implications of someone using your video as part of their defense in court?

    • @fixanddrive
      @fixanddrive  3 роки тому +1

      @@richbrown8174 here in Poland you can use secondhand spare parts and I will never believe you can't in the UK. Once you do something with the brakes and remove the discs, you then also refit your used discs. You don't need to fit new discs just because you removed yours for some reasons. Insurance companies here have nothing to do with it. Once you fit new discs, they are used the very next day.

    • @fixanddrive
      @fixanddrive  3 роки тому

      @@richbrown8174 you can also fit used alloys, tires etc, can't you in the UK?

    • @richbrown8174
      @richbrown8174 3 роки тому

      @@fixanddrive Yes you can fit certain used parts her in the UK just not safety critical parts like brakes, suspension and seat belts etc
      Why would you want to risk yours or your families lives to save a few Euros
      If your removing the an existing disc to carry out some other work then yes you can refit the disc
      You shouldn't be replacing worn discs with second hand parts and to do so on here could encourage others to take shortcuts that endanger lives
      Think you'll find that any insurance company in the world that finds out that you've fitted second hand parts or made undeclared changes to your vehicle could decide that you have invalidated your insurance
      This includes remapping your ECU as most insurance companies now read the ECU software as part of a claim.

      Get new discs, leave them outside in the rain and the will be correded next day
