Good man Leon. Great job with the lift. Jst done pug 107 same job full service plus front discs an pads on the ground, boy wer discs welded tight wit rust.
Great video as usual leon i have a Ford mondeo on heavy braking i have a loud banging from the back should I let the mother-in-law out of the boot yet . Les from the uk
this vid will help me when i do mine soon i just wish you where here in cavan as it is hard to find a good garage as i got ripof when i had water in in the back footwells and was told i need a new door seal then i find it was the seals on the back windows
When I got my Audi 100, I rebuilt all the calipers and done the discs and pads. Dropped one of the pads by accident and the backing hopped off. Only fell about a foot as I was working on the ground. Dunno what brand they were either but every chance they were OEM and 32 years old. Kinda glad I thought the brakes even though they felt fine should be looked at. Amazing what even will pass an MOT in England even though I agree with Leon and the NCT bashing.
Found it - Delphi "Never use Copper Grease on the back side of a brake disc mounting face as this can increase the Disc run out lead to DTV (Disc Thickness Variation) causing brake judder."
Putting grease on the hub you may as well not clean the hub face up as you’re just going to create an uneven surface when you’ve just spent the time to clean up and create a flat as surface as you possibly can
the problem with the T30 disc bolts is 1 or 2 threads stick out of the back if you go to a skrap yard and collect door catch bolts from pug 106 206 306 307 406 cit saxo Picasso etc they are the same but slightly shorter like new
Must remember that. I must admit I've ran cars without them before. Only makes putting back on the wheel a little fiddly. Loads of older VW stuff doesn't use them to begin with.
hi mate if you go onto Facebook and message Sealey Direct tell them I sent you and they will look after you mention the channel name and my name they will look after you
If you don't mind me saying, your torque wrench may need calibrating, the first click was a bit delayed. Swedish pipe wrench. Bloody brilliant, bought a set on impulse 20 odd years ago, my get me out of trouble tool. I think Bahco made the originals, (the Snap on ones are made by Bahco so just buy Bahco.) Mine are Bahco and they will outlast me. I have heard the Knipex ones are the best but haven't tried them. Nice Facom ratchet, is that new?
Yes Bahco made the originals. They also make very decent adjustable spanners, yes they're actually alright and fine for getting you out of a problem or metric/imperial fuckery on an old Land Rover. I throw one in the car tool bag. Their socket sets are lovely also.
Yes mate I must admit they are brilliant the facom ratchet is not a new one I've had it a while but I think it is their new list version if that makes sense
👍😊spot on as all ways. a suggestion for more views put the car's in the title that are the same car with a different badge i.e. pug 107 108 and cit c1 as the psa group is making more manufacturers under it's control do this I think it will help I believe the new Astra is a 308
I wouldn't butter the pad like a biscuit. Instead, if the manufacturer says to do so, then concentrate only on contact points. The method you have shown leaves the pad exposed to air and just catching brake dust,
Each To Their Own I've been doing this for years and never had an issue with dust or bits or anything like that and I know people that have been doing it for longer than I've been alive and have no issues this is just some people say this I have seen it everywhere but it absolutely makes no sense whatsoever
DO NOT!!! plaster cooper grease or any grease on the back of the pads like this!!! no grease is required on brake pads if it transfers to the disks you wont stop , very dangerous!!!
Yes mate they are I have done a video on the special tool to repair them and I have also done a video showing you on some of the volkswagen's how you can do it without taking the carrier off
Craftmanship💪
Boom lol
nice little job that mate and good to see the car vids coming back👌
Thanks mate
another great video thanks Leon keep up the good work

Great video. Wish there were more mechanics like you.
Hi mate believe me I'm nothing special there's lots of us out there
Great video as usual leon i have a Ford mondeo on heavy braking i have a loud banging from the back should I let the mother-in-law out of the boot yet . Les from the uk
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Just think of the extra fuel you are wasting carrying her around
Allso when pushing the pistons back remember to make sure the master has not got to much brake fluid in there
Like the pipe wrench. I use a C clamp myself.
If it works it works mate no point changing if it's not broken

Yeah sorry mate I'm sure you'll find someone good near you
Good job Leon, that brake file looks to be a great yoke altogether:):)
Yes mate it's brilliant
That's a pretty handy looking file you have these Leon....might have to add that to the amazon list..😜😜
Yes mate it's brilliant very quick and easy
good information and share
I was surprised that the disc came lose by itself. Even hammering didn't help me. I had to turn in 2 smaller bolts to push it off. :-)
Soooorted mate ... what make was the failed break pad definitely not going to be fitting them 😋🙌👍👍👍
I'm not sure mate couldn't see any writing on them

That moly grease is interesting. I understand why you wouldn't use copper grease on the pins, but why not between the hub and disc?
Found it - Delphi "Never use Copper Grease on the back side of a brake disc mounting face as this can increase the Disc run out lead to DTV (Disc Thickness Variation) causing brake judder."
Yes mate there's little bits in it definitely don't use copper grease for that

Great informative video, Just subscribed 👍👍👍
Thanks a lot mate much appreciated hope you enjoy the rest of my videos
Nice video. What is the reason not to use copper grease behind the brake disk?
Hi mate there is little bits in copper grease and it can just cause bad run out on the discs it will not sit flush
Good to know :-)

Great Video as usual. Do you have a link to that cleaning tool for the drill?
hi mate if you go onto Facebook and message Sealey Direct tell them I sent you and they will look after you mention the channel name and my name they will look after you
wont a metal file do the same leon, or are they special files, need to get me one if they are, great video fella.
Hi mate I suppose a metafile would work but this is is different like he said different pitch also a lot bigger gap between each lot
Imagine it like sandpaper a normal file let's just say is 100 grit where this is 40 grit if that makes sense
@@bodgitandleggitgarage cheers, i had a google at them, after watching the video, may have to get me self a cheap one.

Bosch makes brakes? I had no idea.
Bosch makes lots of things it's unreal what they make when you really look into it
Another good video Leon. Hope you and family are doing well. Cheers Artie ❤️
Thanks a lot mate we are all good hope you and yours are good too
Great video Leon
Thanks mate
Great Vid Leon 👍
Thanks mate
Please you are putting the arm chair mechanics back on the shelf on this one.!!
lol
Copying AvE on the old torq settings, click click sorted :-)
Not copying anybody been doing it that way for years saying in my video for years to😁😁
A very long time ago I was told torque settings are for the obeyance of idiots and for guidance of wise men.
He was a very wise man himself
What's happening with the Escort?
Nothing still got it
