I'm still running my 1070. Planning on upgrading soon but it's served me really well over the last 6 years or so. It's only now just started showing it's age with games like Warzone, Hogwarts Legacy, Apex Legends and The Last of Us. It still runs them all decently and they're still very much playable, usually getting at least 50-60 fps but as I've upgraded everything else, I'm excited to see how far I can push my setup with a new gpu so my old 1070 can retire
Just noticed that you've been subscribed for the last 5 years and wanted to thank you for sticking around. Means a lot!
I had 1070 for few years in my garage rig, but decided to go for RX 5600 XT because of the Warzone (price difference was 30eur)
"Warzone, Hogwarts Legacy, Apex Legends and The Last of Us"
All these games are garbage tho, don't worry about it.
@@RATechYT Woow, how do you see that data on Analytics?

My gtx 1070 8gb still holding its own. Had a blast running re4 at 1080 60. Had it since 2017 and making it really hard to upgrade 😂
Same bro. Re4 ran perfectly good. I have 1070 6 years.
@@TheParrot1000 i using 1070.. it works
Just bought one off eBay to go into my ancient sandylake (i5-2500k oc’d to 4.4ghz) PC to replace my GTX 960 2GB. $130 USD including taxes and shipping. I’m only really upgrading for Diablo 4 which the 1070 can play smoothly with the high res textures and highest settings in the game @ 1080p combined with the 2500k!
Should really boost my old games too. Huge win for giving my old machine some new life for a low price I think.
4.4 only? My brother managed 4.8ghz on a 2500k with a hyper 212 only :/. You should definitely try go a bit further lack of hyper threading that extra frequency could help 1%\0.1%.
Ngl if anyones looking for a reliable and truth telling pc builder, trust this guy! Fully built my PC back in 2017 over the course of 6 months. This guy is a legend, he deserves so much more credit and subscribers than he has.
Thank you so much!
Good video. Good card for the price. There are lots of deals to be had these days on used cards. Just remember if you come across a 1070ti, that's it's closer to a 1080 than a 1070 in performance.
An incredible card. Was a revelation coming from a 670. So smooth.
Got a gtx 1070 laptop, hp omen 17. Holy crap that thing rips. Performance is also very close to the PC card!
I got one of these beauties back in the day for $350 and paired it with a R5 3600. It was the best gaming experience I had up to that point.
Around that time I picked up a water cooled EVGA 980ti for around £100 :D
I remember paying almost 500€ for this 1070 haha
Welcome to club. Having exsact combo my self at the moment. And it delivers all what I need 🤘
Is the gtx 1070 ti any good?
@@That-Canadian-Guy a bit more horse power than non-Ti, so, yes, its good, if not beter ;)
Still running my 1070 and no issues Founders edition. Playing latest games at 40 to 80 fps depending on the game. About to upgrade to an am5 and go 6800xt though. Gonna throw my 1070 into my plex server and call it good.
Very good video as usual !
Thanks!
Just bought a gtx 1070 today, big upgrade for me, have been running a r9 280(brothers old gpu) so definitely excited
Mine has been a workhorse. Got a Founder's Edition back in 2016 when they first dropped (I'm so old, LOL) to complete my $1,400 build (at the time, worth much less now), and it has kicked some serious ass since then while paired with my overclocked Intel i5 6600k. Sadly like others have said, it is just now starting to show its age, but man what a wonderful GPU.
I'm rebuilding my savings but eventually I will start to slowly upgrade my rig and getting a newer GPU is first on the list (probably a RTX 4060 or 4070 if I can manage it), followed by a motherboard/CPU combo since Windows 10 will be going the way of the dodo in the next two years anyway.
Updating from 950 to 1070 today. Really excited for al lthe games i`ll be able to play, all the blender projects i`ll be able to render (finally), and all the neural networks i`ll at least try training)
I had 3 GTX 1070s in all PC in our house at a point in time. But I got a second hand Rx 6600XT for EUR 200 a month or so ago.
And for 70 EUR compared to the GTX 1079, it's very good!
6600xt is a great card, but to be blunt, it doesn't seem like much an upgrade for that price.
really solid video 👍
Thank you!
Lot of great bargains from this generation. Even going up to the top of the line card from this time, the Titan Xp, is only going to cost you around $220 and is going to get you 12 GB of VRAM and fantastic performance if you don't need the bells and whistles of RTX and DLSS.
Have one in two different setups. Great budget card
The Pascal era of GPUs simply were amazing, I bought my 1080 back at release and been using it ever since and just now put it in the computer I had my 1070 inside, The 1070 Gaming X I have was the second highest model of the 70 Card you could buy with only the Z model higher clocked. my 1080 Extreme Gaming Edition was the highest model 1080 you could get and I even overclocked it to 2050Mhz, these cards had a certain firmware on release not all worked with and everyone was told to nerf the performance with a downgrade firmware, but my card worked perfect and even faster so I kept the faster firmware and refused to downgrade. Man I been gaming on that GPU, The 1070 was used with 4 monitors on my production PC until the 1080 took it´s place. we never gonna see such value for GPUs again
On a 1070 atm as well, but really want to upgrade.
But not at these current prices!
Tempted to buy a 4060Ti is it's price drops though. Maybe some good "deals" come November???
Its amazing i have it. had it for 7 years now its still running new end games at 50/60 fps which is fine imo
STill rocking my 1070 for now planning on grabbing a 6900xt as I am running the 5800x
Sold mine a few months back for exactly this price .. I kinda feel the 5700xt is the min for a semi decent gaming PC. Tho I agree the 1070 is still doing the job. I also gave my spare one to my m8s kid, he had an r9 290x before so he was happy.
Wyt should i get 1070 in 2023? Or save some money for 5700xt for example?
@@lexamarinkovicthe 5700XT faster than a 3060.
I had the same evga 1070 sc2, was a great card!
I just picked one up today after doing a little research on a decent card for a low price. I'm glad I did I moved up from GTX 960 to the 1070 and so far its good! Thanks for the video and information!
That's exactly what I'm looking at changing from . i don't need anything top end. i still play ut2004, Lol. What do you play, what's your system specs and how much of a difference did you notice?
@technooby220 I'm basic man I still play COD play a few Ubisoft games like Splinter Cell etc. I definitely noticed a difference in the graphics and speed.
@@terrancepinkney777 I'm basic too....Altough years ago I used to be a graphics junkie. What's the rest of your system spec?
I have the exact same setup! I bought a prebuilt 5 years ago with a gtx1070, ryzen 7 2700x and 16gb of ram 2400, 1tb harddrive, 120gb ssd for the os for $1150 with tax. Just upgraded my ram to 32gb 3200mhz and a 970 evo plus m.2 paid $140 from Best Buy and my pc runs a lot better!! I wanna keep it for 5 more years for school and gaming! I only game at full hd which isn’t a problem for me because I have an Xbox series x for 4k if I need it!
I just bought the RX 7800xt last week, but the 1070 will always have a special place for me. The best 500€ I could have ever spent on a graphics card. Incredible how it can still run everything even 7 years later and even consume less power than most graphics cards today
That's exactly the GPU that I am planning to buy, I'm still using my GTX 1070. Did you have to upgrade most of your components, like the Motherboard and CPU aswell?
@@beastkillerace8146 yes, I upgraded from an i5 6600k to a Ryzen 5 7600x
The CPU is bit overkill howver, even at 1080p. An older Ryzen 5 5600x or 3rd gen R7 will probably be enough, although i never tested that. I just wanted to get on the new AM5 platfrom for future upgrades.
In any case, I think the 7800xt is definetly a great choice if you're looking for something that is equal to what the 1070 was in 2016
i'm still using a 1070 (ROG strix)
and plan to continue using it for a while.
the 1070 still runs everything at 60fps or so
at some level of detail.
though i have been seeing the 4060 for pretty cheap
and have been considering upgrading.
i really only upgrade when i can get double my performance
for a reasonable price.
I currently have a RX6900XT in my build but I still own my GTX 1070 TI and that thing is still a beast . I installed Chimera OS and am using the 1070TI as a living room console setup now. Also I find it weird that Apex has low FPS with the 1070 since I used to get on custom settings ( low to high- competetive) stable 144 FPS ,well that might be cuz my card is the TI variant
Isnt Steam OS builds AMD only?
FSR is a amazing for these older cards.
Always love watching these "old but not obsolete" hardware videos! My RX 470 has been with me since 2016 and throughout the mining craze(bought it a month before the mining shenanigans stupidly shot the prices up, got it at MSRP), and will only replace it when it goes bonkers. FidelityFX really extended its lifespan for me as I am still getting decent FPS for most of my games. Still, can't deny that the itch for an upgrade haunts me a lot of times, even considering upgrading to a 1070 a few years back. But I'll hold out until it gives out.
Dude! I SOLD mine during that very mining craze! I originally bought it for ~$150, then sold it for ~$300.
I bought a ~$400 GTX 1070 during that time (directly from the manufacturer to avoid inflated prices), and low & behold, the thing catches fire only a few days ago. Now, I just bought myself an RX 6800 for ~$350 off eBay.
If you're looking to upgrade, the RX 6700 I think would be in your budget 👍
@@austinmajeski9427 I think I'll pass since I know that my Xeon E5-2690v1 would bottleneck the heck out of that card at 1080p since that's the resolution I game at. But I am upgrading to a Ryzen 5 5600 so I'm selling the board, cpu and AIO that I currently use now. I'll still wait for my 470 to give out though but thanks for the suggestion! :)
@@austinmajeski9427 can't believe you sold it for twice you bought it at! Clever!
@@itpugil Thanks!
@@itpugil Sapphire 7950's were selling at $300 on ebay for a while, dunno why but I paid $40 for mine before they shot up and after a year or so they went back to normal.
I bought a 1080ti back in 2017 and it lasted me till 2022. The only reason I got rid of it was because I thought I was moving over seas and needed to get rid of all my desktops. My laptop which has a mobile 3080 is only 10% faster than my 1080ti i9 setup from 2016. More than happy with that.
You don't have to change PC you just change the power box it costs 80 euros man. I think your 1080 ti could have hold on for another 2 years.
Heh, my man, he said "desktops", plural. Shipping bulky stuff from the States to Europe or Asia is an expensive PITA at best, downright totally not worth it at worst.
My 1070 Seahawk X has been running everything since 2016 and the temperature never goes above 45 inside my 4000D case. Running Starfield with low - medium settings in 1440p (without dynamic resolution and FSR2 65/100) with 30+ frames in Atlantis and around 52 in most other places, which is more than enough for a single player game.
For Warzone 2 i get around 70FPS and it runs smooth. I5 8400 and 16gb ram
Still rocking a 1070ti paired with an i5 9400... Got no complaints...
i had a rx 590 that got smoked, then i bought a cheap 760 card for like 10 dollars just to run my screens. Now just bought this second hand for under 100 dollars. only have 1080 screens. I think it will work very well.
Im not gonna spend 1000 dollars on the newest generation when not gaming so much. Would have to upgrade everything in that case.
Mine just caught fire a few days ago, after 7 years of use. Great card 👍
_(I just bought an RX 6800 as a replacement. It's pretty much twice as good as a GTX 1070)_
@@dagerry Something popped on the back of the GPU and melted. Flames lasted for about a second. It was pretty bright. How? Idk, just old. I wasn't doing anything crazy when it happened.
I had a 1070 for a minute but I got a 3060 12gb now. Very good upgrade path.
Still rocking a 1070fe and a i7 6700k to this day, really good for 1080p and decent at 1440p for older games.
I have same setup but only have a 1080p monitor, i wabt a 1440p monitor do you advice the upgrade?
Running a 1070 ftw edition for the last 6 years. Thing still runs everything fine for me but I need to upgrade. I want another card that can last me 3-4years. I play 1440p 165hz (COD, starfield when it drops, etc). I was going to get a 6700/6750 but I started looking at a 6800xt or 6950xt. Any recommendations? Everything in my PC was upgraded late last year, this is the final piece.
I saw a 1070 on OfferUp for $60. I'm thinking about getting it to replace the Radeon 7950 3GB that I currently have.
I got a 1070 ti for $98 USD and it's the best gaming experience I've ever had. Sure it can't raytrace or play the latest games like like Alan Wake 2, but I can play Cyberpunk on high quality settings with quality FSR and it looks and feels great, much better than my old GTX 1650 laptop or my GTX 960 2GB card
Bought one 1070 for my sister for $100, she doesn't play any demanding games and it super happy with it.
The power consumption in desktop usage is at just 7 Watt, so it is a perfect office card.
Seems like everyone on Reddit and YT comment sections has a sister they buy stuff for. Weird.
I still have the 1060 on my old pc and play a few games on it, but over the years ive noticed that it just isnt enough anymore
probably building a 2k€ setup in a few weeks
a friend of mine gave me his evga gtx 1070 and it now allows me to play my games smoothly
Try a 1080 for the same price.. here in Australia the 1080 are going on the 2nd hand market for $200 aud ie around 130 USD
It's basically with a 1660super/ti but with 8gb great for 1080p and prices are amazing nowadays
Reason it does that is because there hasnt been released much in terms of good games since
I have Msi 1070 OC version is beast I don’t have no issue. As long warzone gameplay experience is good im happy.
Vega 56/64 are pretty cheap nowa days you should check them out.
You know it's the videos like these which restore my faith in humanity... Long live my brother.
I have the identical 1660 super and I can confirm it runs everything except maybe Starfield
If the radeon780M is already rx580 class when fully unlocked
I can see nxtgen ryzen8000 apu can do this level of performance
1660s/ti pr 1070? which is better in video editing/games
Just got a good used 1070 tifor 130 cdn. Much better than my old 1050
only upgraded from my gtx 1070 because i got a deal on a 3070 ti oc at 300$
I am still using GTS 1070ti with Intel core i3 12100 and in Apex i get 150+ fps at medium Settings
Another great video my man 💪🥰👍. At the time 8 personally had a 1080 and 1080Ti in m6 systems. I’ve now upgraded to an RTX4090 (skipping the rest of 40-Gen).
The GTX1070 is the new Rx580💪🥰👍 on todays used market and still performs quite admirably for the money 💰. Nvidia I feel will keep supporting the 900/1000 series for maybe another 2-3 years, then will axe GTX GPUs from driver updates forcing people to move onto their RTX lineup 😵🫣🤯😱.
I will be reusing my old 1070 for 1080p gaming and media/data storage machine.
my 1070 is in an old pc, and the cpu water cooler leaked, and actually corroded a part of the gpu. it still fucking works lol.
I recommend spend a little bit more and a get a used rx 5700xt instead. performs basically like an 3060 without rt...
Just copped a 1070 for £70 and given my RX 580 to my GF for her new build. Maybe when 12GB cards drop I'll worry about getting something new. But honestly for our needs it's great!
what would be your valuable upgrade for 1070? I think best Band for Buck now would be a 3060ti
At just over $200 used, the RTX 3060 12 GB or RX 6650 XT will already give you a massive boost in performance over the GTX 1070, especially the 6650 XT since it is quite a bit ahead the 3060 in a lot of games.
It just wont retire
You can get a 5700 XT for 120-140 USD which blows this thing out of the water.
Eu tenho uma GTX 1070 desde 2016 hahah tô feliz até hoje
gtx 1070 is still great, in 2018 to 2021 is when this card and the 980ti was the best value cards out there well depending where in the world you buy it but yeah.
I bought a GTX 1070ti a looooong time ago and it still runs everything I throw at it. However, the CPU I have with it is a 6700k which is unfortunately pretty old, is the main component holding it back.
Bought another 1070ti(used) and just SLI'd it and its not really much of a game changer to be honest. I had this opinion years back and I stand by it still, despite the tech being 100% dead now.
Oh trust me, your CPU is fine. I don't know which games you play exactly, but in most cases the 6700k is more than enough to handle modern mid range graphics cards, especially if you also overclock it and the memory.
please dont lower the vram you have in apex. It uses the onboard ram instead if you do that. Either pick the lowest or the vram you have.
Should i buy a asus strix gtx 1070 8gb for 120e?
Still running the 1070, don't see a reason to upgrade yet.
Just wanted to give you this medal for being a subscriber for 5 years 🥇
@@RATechYT damn it's been a while huh. Very nice.
🤣
Alot of.newer games although they handle on the card show the cards age..
who did get last firmware update?ıs it good or not?Should I upgrade new firmware?
1660ti or 1070?
Which one’s got the better performance?
Both costs the same for me , not sure which to pick
Go for the 1660 Ti - it's newer and performs in most cases as good or a tiny bit better here and there.
>8:11
So the clock says "1337" :3.
Is this csrd worth it on very good condition, will it last long, will it play halo infinite, cyberpunk, and dead space remake 2023 very well?
It's an old card, so if you're planning to play every single new game that comes out - it won't last long.
It is able to run Cyberpunk as you can see at 1:27. Haven't tried other games that you mentioned.
Imagine if it could have DLSS. Amazing performance even so.
Best return on investment as it is said in the title it does runs everything. Even games releasing now. The thing is in fact very few people need 165Hz and even less 4K, 1080p at 60 FPS is well enough, 1444p is still ok but 4K is completely overkill you won't even notice it after 20 minutes playing the game. Gaming is gaming, not a competition for best performance we can't even make the difference with our eyes.
@@kroooassant9899 You`re a funny man, gaming is gaming. LOL. 1080p at 60 FPS is well enough.
Speak for yourself, you must be blind and not give a shit about gaming.
I've found one on the marketplace. It has 2x8 pin power connectors. It's the Zotac edition. Any reason for extra power, factory overclocked?
I have a Zotac 1070 and have no idea why it has 2x8 pin connectors, the only thing I can think of is the Zotac edition might be a slightly beefed up version of a normal 1070
Just cop one for 120 bucks!!
Budget itx build!!
I'm still using that exact same card he has, it still works awesome for what I use it for.
still using the 1070 and I can play most of games in 4k with +60fps on mid/high settings
No way xD
I play on 1080p and about 100fps low setting
Wanted to upgrade monitor to a 1440p but my idea is that it will damage performance a lot
It would be better to get a 5700XT for around $150. Way more performance. It trades blows with the RTX 3060
Difference between 1070 and 1080 wasnt as huge as 4070-4080 we have today.
Percentage difference between the 4070/80 is less than 30%. Dunno, doesn't seem all that out of past expectations.
how do you enable fsr?
i have the 1070 for about 5 years and its starting to worsen now. It can barely run games such as fortnite or ranbow 6 seige on 60 fps. Any tips?
Try reinstalling the drivers from scratch using DDU. If that doesn't help I don't think there's much you can do other than formatting your PC.
While these kinds of videos are very interesting and certainly require a lot of effort to make, I do have some criticism for this particular one.
Most notably, there were definitely errors in script writing and inconsistencies between clip length.
The intro was okay-ly written, but could be improved with more history of the card and it’s current characteristics all around.
But the lack of details start to really represent itself in the benchmarks. When doing these, you should mention the settings first, include multiple tests with or without upscaling, while reducing footage time and presenting the valid clips to said issues or numbers. Sometimes the footage is just way too long compared to what is said, making the video more boring to watch.
For the conclusions (Final words) I suggest adding a general conclusion such as: “So, in conclusion, the GTX 1070 is still rocking it in 2023 for the most part, and is certainly an attractive deal at 130$, I don’t have the best recommendations for this one due to the high power draw. Depends on where you live, this card could be a bargain for budget gamers or just a seemingly good but unreliable deal. Electricity prices have been going out of control in some regions, especially the UK.”
Overall decent video, but my low attention 16 years old ass won’t finish this except for when I’m doing the dishes. Good work my man, one subscriber earned.
Oh and yeah, if you ever need someone to do the script writing I’ll always be available wink wink. I may not be the best but surely gonna be in the enthusiastic side taking on the task.
Aaaaand GTX 980ti review if you got the card or have the budget to purchase one? Really curious how it’s holding up in 2023.
Thanks!
I'm thinking of reviewing the 980 Ti in the near future. For now I already have a few video ideas ready, but once I'm done with them I'll definitely start looking for a 980 Ti.
How does it do on starfield?
No idea, haven't had the chance to test Starfield.
Still playing with my 1050.
No questions allowed. 😅
I cant see the difference because you uploaded the video to yt at 30fps and not 60
What fps monitoring software are you using? If its RTSS and MSI afterburner, how do you get those fps numbers in decimals.
It is yeh. Installed it myself just the other day.
@@technooby220 I figured out the decimals, its in the settings.
Is this a good one Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 G1?
Yup, got a chance to get my hands on it in the past. Had no issues with it.
I have ryzen 5 3600 - 1070 as my first pc. Yikes
Hey man, just wanna tell you that the 5700 xt can be found for a price similar to the 5600 xt.
The 5600 XT can be easily found in the range of $135-145, while properly working 5700 XT's are usually being sold for $170 and above on eBay. The difference isn't massive, but isn't small either.
@@RATechYT ive seen some all the way down to 150-160$, might be cause ppl noticed how good of a deal it is, so it rose a little
An you use 1070gtx on 1440p gameplay?
I do! I5 6600K + GTX 1070
Hi do I need a specific monitor to enable fsr? Thx
Nope.
I had 2 of these in SLI around 2014 - 2015, They always impressed me, epically at 1080p, I sold 1 of them when SLI was pretty much not worth even tinkering with, gave the other to my brother in law and his PC does really well, I see these things for $100 sometimes on Marketplace, definitely worth it!
2014-2015 ??? that gpu come out in 2016 do correct me if im wrong
@@Oberst_Mustang 😂
@@Oberst_Mustang Mybe it was around that time, Its been awhile
i have a 1070 but i dont be getting that much fps at your settings in apex its like 40-90 even at low setting
What's your CPU?
I still run this lol
Great video! Do you think a 3070 for 400 Euros 2 month ago is still a good deal I did? Its a 3070 msi x trio Upgraded from 970 ^^ cheers!
That's about the right price I'd say.
@@RATechYT i wonder how it would run with my old fx8350 system ^^ probably cpu bottlenecking the 3070.
@Shadowman don't do it.. your cpu will limit you.. but don't get it twisted you still will have awesome graphics
just upgraded from an rx 480 to the 1070 ti and its a great card
That's a small jump
@@SweatyFeetGirl $0 upgrade lol
@@arnietech208 well if it was free then its good lol
It's the new budget king and walks all over rx 580 and 1650.
In my opinion it's the best bang for buck used old graphics card.
If you can scope a 6600 or better for 200ish new than I'd get the new GPU for peace of mind on longevity.
Pretty much everything in between is poor value.
I wouldn't look for anything lower than an rx 580 for any build currently, most should get a new 6600-50XT for as close to 200 as they can find.
The rx 580 was a 1060 competitor.
How is an rx580 8gb still going for that much. Got mine around $100 years ago.
@@jamezxh still is but it cant hold up to the 1070. I've seen the rx 580 for as low as 80.
@@theautumnwind2152 crypto exploded the used market.
@@joelferguson625 you can pickup 580’s for well under a hundred bucks now. Good luck finding a 1070 for that price.
I got a brand new 1070 for 120$
