I have struggled with dreams before causing me great stress, and even been visited I believe by a demonic presence but uttering the Jesus prayer caused it to flee. One of the most terrifying things I have experienced. St. Paisios pray for us ☦
I once experimented with lucid dreaming many years ago. I encountered a being wearing a mask that looked like my face, but obviously wasn't me. Then, over many years I would occasionally experience demonic torment. One happened the night before I became a catechumen. In that experience I thought I was awake laying in my bed. An arm as white as a corpse raised from the side of my bed and grabbed my ankle. I then heard a deep growling voice behind my head shout profanities at me and say it wanted to kill me. By God's grace I haven't experienced any others since. I have since repented of having toyed with such practices. The lesson here is don't do it 😅
It's very serious nowadays as psychotherapists etc make a big deal of interpreting dreams....... Many Christians being tempted by this so called wisdom. God protect us!! All the Angels and saints pray 4 us. I got baptised last Sept having been pentecostal /methodist for too long..... Ive met many there spreading this sort of teaching based on psychology, psychotherapy etc.. Very serious situation...... Many of these people are potentially greater enemies of Truth than more obvious God hating sinners.
This is refreshing to hear since I, like my parents, have been disturbed by dreams in the past but less so since I came back to Orthodoxy Ever since I established daily prayers, reading scripture and learning from church fathers my dreams haven’t disturbed me
My wife's father yelled @ me for drinking too much in a dream once. I'd only ever seen him in pictures b/c he died when she was twelve or thirteen. It's true that I was drinking too much.
a very beautiful and inspiring video. this is helping me also because i have alot of evil dreams and sinful dreams taht effect me when i wake up, but i know its not from god but from the devil. i am happy that one of my favourite saints knows about this and the reason and truth. ❤
I have a friend who keeps trying to tell me the dreams they have about me. I feel like I hurt their feelings by telling them I would rather not hear them.
Saint Joseph had warnings in dreams. Sometimes I also do get warnings in dreams. How do you propose to distinguish dreams from God and from the evil one? 95% of dreams are deceptive? Where did you get that statistic from?
All the Holy Fathers talk about to never trust our dreams, no matter how convincing they are. It comes from the deep and long experience of the Church. If you have some that are troubling you, it is better to talk about it with your spiritual father before you take them seriously.
Just remember, life is essentially a lesson on humility, trusting God, and repentance. I know that God will happily and gently guide good people like Abraham and Spyradon. But for me, God let's the enemy bother me to teach me a lesson. If you see a real Saint, they will give you a warning and call you to repent. If you see the enemy, it's just a scary warning and sign to repent. Christ have mercy.
