- Another quick and easy project perfect to give as Christmas Gifts or to add to Christmas Gift Packs. I usually call my Bath Salts Soaking Salts and tell people they can also be used in foot spas!
The two online stores I mention for Aussies to buy Nature's garden fragrances are
Kody's Candles: bit.ly/kodyscan...
Fragrance Shed (Big Trees): bit.ly/fragranc...
I have included my recipe below but as with the Bath Milk, this can easily be tweaked to make your own by adding different botanicals and salts.
91% Salts (himalayan, epsom salt, rock salts, sea salt etc - avoid Black Sea Salt)
7% Botanicals (Rose petals, Calendula, Chamomile, lavender, nettle etc)
1% Natrasorb
1% Fragrance or Essential Oil - be sure to check usage guidelines and adjust accordingly

wonderful. Interesting you said not to use if you have High Blood pressure. Can I ask what is the issue?
From everything I've read and been told, soaking in salts can increase the intake of magnesium which may have effects on people's health. I make a note on my salts to consult a doctor first if there are known health issues 😊
Thank you for sharing your recipe and technique; I love your videos! I have a question about the Natrasorb. I've seen where you're supposed to weigh the Natrasorb and other sites that state to use a 'spoon'. I always weigh everything, but because of the 'weightless-ness' of Natrasorb, I wanted your opinion. TIA
Thank you for watching ❤ I like to weigh everything to ensure consistency. It is very lightweight but you can get scales that do small increments. I find measuring in grams easier for this reason.
@@SoyandShea Yes, I also use grams; and I do have a smaller scale that can weigh .1 of a gram. Thank you again.
@@tammybinning7237 sounds perfect for weighing the natrasorb 😊
Awesome job! They are spectacular! I have a question however, is there a concern about the florals clogging the drain?
For those that don't want to use the tea bag, the best thing to do is scoop what you can out the bath before letting water out. I've not heard of people having issues and there is minimal amount per bath. I always like to put my botanicals on the garden to mulch down
How are you and thank you for sharing, Lovely, I enjoyed watching this, I will try these, however instead of Tapioca starch, what would be the substitute? Thank you again 😊
Thank you for watching 🧡 check out the comments. There's lots of information about this
@@SoyandShea thank you, I will check them out. Best regards😊🌿
What is exactly natrasorb? Can I use tapioca starch? the one sold at supermarket?
Natrasorb is a modified tapioca starch. It's much more refined than the type you buy in the supermarket and can hold its wait in liquid without clumping like tapioca. It also dissolves really easily in water. You can use tapioca starch but it will look very clumpy.
You are amazing! where do you buy your bottles and botanicals please in Australia
Thank you. I made this video some time ago and the supplier of the bottles no longer exists. I get my botanicals from various soap suppliers. If you google soap suppliers Australia plenty come up.
If I omitted the botanicals would I increase the salts by the 7%? Love your channel! Thanks for teaching us! :)
Thank you 🧡 yes you can definitely do that
Great idea on the muslim bag to pop into the dryer. What other products did you put into the caddy? Or did you not video anything else? I really enjoy your videos thank you again for sharing.
I didn't video all the items. There was these salts, a bath milk, some hand and body lotion, abody wash plus some bath fizz and a hand wash.
@@SoyandShea what a great presentation those cute crates make for your beautiful products
What kind the bird Do You have? I never heard it before lol .Good recipe . Good information too👌👌✳️✳️✳️✳️✳️✳️
Thank you ❤ there are lots of different birds in our yard. Just listening back briefly I heard some curlers which make the crying sound, plus there could be lorikeets and other parrots
Great Video!!! We are preparing for our Christmas inventory! Where did you get your scale? Thank You!
Thank you 🍏 search for electronic scales on either Amazon or ebay and they'll come up
Love you video I must try. What do you put on your labels?
Thank you 🧡 I label accordingly to the standards advised in Australia.
Are your bottles plastic or glass? And I love your videos thank you for everything
For safety and insurance purposes these are plastic bottles which are both reusable and recyclable
Hi Keeley! I'm curious to know what the other products were that went into those milk crate gift sets. Could you point me in the right direction for more videos?
I didn't film making all the crate items. The crates had 3 of the milk bottles which were a bath salt, bath milk and bath crumble (broken bath bombs). There was also a foaming hand wash, a body wash and body lotion all in pump bottles.
@@SoyandShea Thanks for the response!
Thank you for sharing your recipe. I now know what Xmas gifts I’m making lol but really, it is very generous
Why can’t people with high blood pressure sue it though?
Thank you for watching ❤
From all the research I've done, when soaking I salts, you absorb a lot of the minerals which can affect people with high blood pressure- particularly Epsom salts
Soy and Shea
Well that is interesting, glad you mentioned it because I wouldn’t have of thought it
That is actually the opposite of the medical advice I've received. Epsom salts are high in magnesium, and magnesium is recommended to lower blood pressure, as well as relaxing the muscles and assisting with sleep.
Great video. 😃 thank you for sharing.
May I ask where you bought your bucket of the large Rock Salts from in Australia please.
Thank you for your time. 😀
Thank you 🌱 I use New Directions 😁
@@SoyandShea thank you so much. 😃
Hi there, I would like to try this recipe. However can't source Natrasorb so want to know a substitute for it. Or if I just omit it which other ingredient I increase. I have seen some people mixing carrier oil in it to disperse essential oils evenly. I really like your tips for not putting botanicals with Dead Sea salt and placing a tea bag for easy use.
It's very hard to replace Natrasorb. It's a modified or really fine tapioca starch. I have tried with tapioca flour/starch but the results are not as good as it clumps together. The reason for using it is to keep the salts dry. Adding it straight to you salts may cause them to sweat and look bad in the packaging. Which country are you in?
@@SoyandShea I am in India
@@GarimaRastogi78 I'm not to familiar with suppliers in India, but I believe you can purchase Natrasorb on Amazon if your allowed to import
@@SoyandShea I appreciate your prompt responses. I have checked on Amazon not all the items can be imported. It is one of them. Will keep looking for it.
Such a great video - thank. Would you mind sharing where you get the Rose petals, Calendula, Chamomile, etc please?
Thank you 😊 I get most of my botanicals from various soap suppliers in Australia. Where are you located?
@@SoyandShea Thanks for replying. I'm in Australia. Just getting in to soaps and things - too scared to try soap yet though :-)
@@chrisf4627 Aussie Soap supplies have some great botanicals.
Love it what is the label company you use? Thank you
Thank you. I design and print all my own labels
Is there anything I can use instead of natrasorb as I cannot get in IRL ?? ☺️
Natrasorb is a very unique ingredient and hard to replace. I know there are places in the UK that sell it if you can buy from there
Hi I've just watched your video.
And I heard you say if you have high blood pressure you shouldn't use the bath salts.
Why is that?
The body can absorb salt while in a salt bath and this can increase blood pressure. Of you google it, you'll find quite a number of medical articles on it
Great video! Is that a bird noise in the background?
Thank you 😊 our yard is always full of birds. I know a bad storm is coming when it goes quiet. It's usually the lorikeets and butcher birds heard on my videos but occasionally they'll be cockatoos, kookaburras and rosellas.
Wow looks great! Where did you get the milk bottles from?
Thank you ❤ I got them from ebay
What can Natrosob be replaced with? Cornstarch?
If you check out some of the previous comments, I address this. It's very hard to replace as its a unique ingredient. It's made with tapioca starch. Cornstarch won't work
Hai.. thank you for your video.. send ❤️ from Indonesia. I wanna ask, why should avoid black sea salt? can I use black himalayan salt for bath salt?
I advise against dead sea salt as it absorbs moisture easily. You could try black salt if you like
Thank youuu
Hi there I was wondering what your thoughts are on emulsifiers for the oils? Have you ever had any issues leaving them out?
I wanted to use essential oils diluted in a carrier oil instead of fragrance oil. I don’t like the idea of polysorbates in my homemade products and am not sure of a natural alternative.
It really depends on what you are making. Oils do not mix with water, so if there is no solubiser, the oil will float on surface. It may make bathtubs slippery
Thankyou so much for your reply, I think I will just stick with natrasorb. I feel a bit pressured by so many sites stating that an emulsifier must be used. Thanks again
Such an amazing video ❤️🥺 I wanted to know, what’s your thoughts on baking soda in bath salts? And would it be good or bad to use natrasorb & baking soda in a bath salt mix? Thank you in advance and you are an inspiration.
Bicarbonate of soda/baking soda is a water softener so adding it to bath salts can be a good thing. You need to be careful if also adding citric acid as the two react and can cause packaging to burst open or break if moisture gets in and starts starts Chemical reaction
@@SoyandShea Oh my goodness!! thank you! I legit was using a smidge bit of citric acid to have the bubbling affect but then it kept getting sticky and I would have to throw out big batches lol. I really am grateful and thank you for clearing up my issue.
@@keyairrahw1253 the slight bit of moisture or humidity can start the reaction between citric acid and bicarb.
You can use diluting carrier oil with the little EO/FO as a mix, and dry the whole finished batch in a tray overnight or for a few days so they’re have no moisture or reactions with the bicarbonate or citric. And so the salts pour freely as a very dry ingredients before packaging the. Nice info on the tapioca absorbing ingredient mind you, I didn’t know about that - makes sense. So many different ways to do something, anything - mother nature is awesome!
Hi. Can this be be used to soak feet daily before sleep. How much it would be helpful to improve sleep pattern, or does it cause any harm while we soak daily.
You can use it to soak your feet but best to seek medical advise about using salts everyday. Excessive use can lead to issues
Thank you for sharing. I had a question- when we use essential oils do we need to use a carrier oil? I have seen some recipes with that and some who dry their salts out before bottling.
EOs need to be diluted before applying to the skin and the most popular way is to dilute in a carrier oil. However, if you start adding oil to salts, you need to start thinking about solubisers too so as not to make a oil slick in the bath water. Adding a small amount of EO to the natrasorb will help it to blend with the water and a carrier oil is not needed. People who are adding to salt and then drying our, are not using natrasorb. The natrasorb makes the oil dry until hitting the bath water.
@@SoyandShea Thank you so much :)
Hi what size of bottles do you use ?
These are 300ml milk bottles from ebay
Soy and Shea alibaba express has the 300ml
@@buttermilkbaysoap9416 unfortunately my insurance won't cover me for packaging or ingredients directly bought from Asia ☹
I was just looking to see if I could use fragrance oil in bath salts instead of essential oil. As long as you follow the guidelines and make sure it says ok for soap, lotions, cosmetics, etc. it's ok. Thank you! The essential oils is bought all smelled like medicine 💊.
You most definitely can use fragrance oils 😊
Any suggestions for an alternative to natrasorb bath? It’s completely sold out in Australia at the moment from what I can tell.
Unfortunately due to the unique nature of natrasorb there are no replacements.
thanks for sharing, so the salts are not put directly into the water...in the bag as tea....
It's a personal preference. Some will tip the salt mix straight into the water but then some like me hate floaty bits in the water so I put in a bag. The salts still dissolve and the florals still seep into water but not floaty bits 😊
@@SoyandShea I like your idea, this way you dont have to worry about the botanicals (topick them up after bath :) )
Amazing! I was looking on your website and I was just wondering where you get the bags from for your bath salts?
Where are you located as not all of my suppliers ship overseas
@@SoyandShea I'm in Victoria Australia :)

@@SoyandShea lovely thank you 😊
Hello!
Where do you purchase your large tubs of salts and botanicals?
I purchase from various Australian soap suppliers depending who stocks what
Keely I carnt to find the link to the recipe thanks 😊
Doesn’t matter I found it thank you 😍😍
Oh hya... One more, can I use kaolin clay as a natarsorb?
No. They are two very different ingredients. Natrasorb is tapioca, clay is clay and they behave differently. Clay will make a paste
Okaiiii.. I'll try.. Thank youuuu.. 🤗🤗🤗
Greetings, I’m new here and to the business, can you tell me where you got the crates from.
Hi. Thanks for watching. I got the crates from a local department store that was selling them out 2 Christmas's before I used them. I've not seem them since
Where or how did you make your labeling for this? Please help!
I design all my labels in corel draw and these were printed on A4 sticker sheets and hand cut
Soy and Shea They are lovely labels and I am looking to custom print my labels and streamline the process so that everything goes together well and blends well without my having to spend so much money. I am just starting out and my soap is made for missions so I have to be careful with my cost and budgeting. Thank you for responding. Your soaps are lovely!
Why is it that someone with high blood pressure should not use bath salts?
The body readily absorbs the salt from the water and can affect blood pressure.
Wish we could smell these
One day we might get smell-a-vision 😆
Would tapioca powder work in place of Natrasorb?
Although Nayradorb is tapioca starch it is more refined. Tapioca starch can still feel wet so isn't the best alternative.
Please, Tapioca starch is the same as natrasorb right?
Natrasorb is tapioca starch but is further refined to make it light and fluffy. Tapioca starch doesn't hold the wet ingredients in the same way
Can we substitute natrasorb for arrowroot powder ? It's the only thing available in my country
Natrasorb is highly refined tapioca starch which can hold its weight in liquid without making wet clumps. When using tapioca or arrow root powders, it will form wet clumps which may eventually make the salts damp. If you are substituting. I would leave the mix to air before packaging.
@@SoyandShea oh ok will try airing it out before packaging thank you 🤞🏾
How do you know if the natrasorb is not to wet/dry? Is there a certain feel to it?
You kind of get used to it. If it's too wet, it holds together in wet balls and looks almost dough like. If you have too much and it's still dry, it will still be very "flyaway" and powder looking
Would you recommend a substitute for natrasorb. It’s not available in U.K.unless I purchase straight tapioca flour
Gracefruit sell it. They call it bathsorb. I googled Natrasorb UK and it was the first result. Normal tapioca starch will go clumpy
Soy and Shea thank you x
What is the first ingredient u use
Check out the description box for the for recipe. It's the natrasorb. Lots of information also in all previous comments about it
Hello, if I wanted to add a milk powder how should I calculate that in?
You can add as much milk powder as you like. There is no recommended usage rates for milk in bath - it's personal preference
Can yall make anything without weighing it? I weigh nothing. Yet my skin. Customers, friends, family are very happy.
I weigh to ensure my products are the same with each and every batch. I also know the exact % of each ingredient to write my labels accurately. However if your way works for you, you do what works best for you
"I hate floaties in the bath!" 😬 Interesting choice of words 💩
😆 that's just what I've always called them.
@@SoyandSheaso funny 😊

How do you keep the botanicals from discolouring water? my roses turn my bath water to a red or green :(
I've never had that issue. Are you using fresh or dried botanicals?
@@SoyandShea dried botanicals
@@camishabalfour4613 I've never had that problem with dried botanicals. I make sure mine are completely dry and I don't add too many either
Hi, thank you for your video! I am looking forward to make my own bath salt. I have a question. Just to get the math right. You say: 1% Fragrance or Essential Oil. If I am going to make 100 grams of bath salth, would that be 1 grams (mililiter) of essential oil?
Thank you for watching 🧡 yes 1% of 100 is 1. Just keep in mind 1g does not equal 1ml in all cases
@@SoyandShea Thank you for your reply
@@SoyandShea So I googled it some more and some essential oils are heavier than others. But 1%, does that mean 1ml or 1grams.
@@quincy120 it's all to do with the specific gravity or the density of the liquid. 1ml of water will equal 1ml but something like castor oil weighs more than water so 1g of castor oil will be less than 1ml. Same with EO. Some are heavier or lighter than others
@@SoyandShea Great thanks for explaning
when u say 91% and 7% does it mean 91g and 7 g?
Only if you're making a 100g batch.
Where would you get the bottles im in Australia and cant find them here
