Another great video! I've watched some others and wanna congrat you for the precise and technical informations you are bringing up. Greetings from Brazil!
Beautiful cichlid, I bought a green terror today, and he ate just 1hr after putting him into my 120g tank :). I love him. He is only 2" long. I am looking to provide a good life for him
I had a green terror that lived for 5 years. He would eat about 7 gold fish a week. The cool part is that he would let me pet and hold him in the water. Switch to a community tank, but I'm looking to get another even though that means my other fig will soon be it's food
I just got my first fish a Green Terror (6cm) and Jack Dempsey (3cm) in my 20 gallon quarantine tank yesterday both eating Cichlid Gold baby size on day 1 also treated them to some Fluval bug bites. I cannot wait to watch the little guys or gals grow I think I will have to get an Oscar when I get my 5x2x2 display tank delivered in April but make sure Oscar added when JD and GT have put on some size as looks like Oscar growth rate is like on steroids.
in my 210 i have 3 oscars 1 GT and 1 JD they all have been growing since feb and are were areound the same size and the oscars have goten so much bigger then the other 2 but everyone is really getting along and i love them all
Just bought a young green terror male, I already have two other young male convicts, one male is the boss of the tank and isn't at all intimidated by the larger green terror! I know introducing females of the respective species to the tank will turn it into a battle field so I just plan to watch my males grow and display!
Lito Loco 4 Fish ....agreed dude....fantastic job as usual guys and really after years of doing this have found fish are like any animal and their temperament varies....we’ve had terrors that were baby dolls and little tetras that tank the tank....some with dogs and most people we know....a lot of it just how they get along as individuals and you guys are great at assessing your fish and sharing how to do it and that’s a big part is watching for changes in attitude and behaviors and if they can stay together cool and if they can’t then get more tanks hahahaha....👍
Love the video. I too have a green terror in with a jack dempsey and a red jewel cichlid all juveniles. Im thinking of adding a juvie salvini. Is this a good idea? How are yours doing altogether?
Thank you! Ours have done well together so far, but Salvini's can definitely get aggressive and try to assert its dominance. They are a great fish though. We'd just recommend a big tank, plenty of hiding spots, and maybe a back up tank/option if you go with one!
@@CichlidBros so I was finally able to get my hands on a roughly 3" salvini for my tank at my local fish store on friday. Got it home and acclimated, turned lights off and put him in. Saturday I woke up and started watching the tank... And there was continuous non stop chasing from my 2" jack dempsey for the rest of the day. The salvini was obviously petrified and constantly trying to hide so I had to take it back instead of watching him stress out and potentially die. It was a shame, but what do you think the chances would be if I got a slightly bigger one? Do you think this will persist?
kevin Hoang dang, sorry to hear! It’s definitely tough getting these personalities to work together. You may have more luck with a larger salvini. I’ve also seen chasing and sometimes that’s their way of establishing the hierarchy in the tank. They sometimes settle down, but yeah, I think you’d have better luck with a bigger Salvini. What size tank do you have?
Hello i just set up a 90 gallon tank. Do you think a green terror would get along with a bichir? It would just be them 2 in the tank. Or my other idea was a jack dempsy, raphael catfish, maybe a severum and or a green terror. Thoughts? Also great video bro!
Had to upgrade from 30 to 60 gal because Oscar double growth rate than green terror. Tank looks awesome the fish seem happy now. 2 Cichlids and 1 ple o perfect in our 60 gallon. Since upvrate the green terror grew 2 inches about 4 weeks.
I was told that Green Terrors can do fine in a 40 breeder tank their whole life by various online sources. I was planning on only keeping one is that good?
Goldfish Gaming hey there. I think one could be okay in a 40 for a year or two, but full grown adults can get very big (10-12 inches), so I’d recommend a 75 gallon or larger if possible
I have never personally kept a Green Terror or a group but I know it's always a country toss of you get a super aggressive one or not or who is dominant or not I've heard and seen a Jack Dempsy easily beat up a Green Terror. I am however on the fence about wanting to get a small group of Green Terrors for my tank and thin them out as they grow.
BigRobs Sichlids that’s definitely true! We’ve been lucky with the few we’ve kept thus far. For a group, I’d just start with a big tank to avoid any major fighting. Thanks for watching/commenting!
@@CichlidBros How would the green terror gold saum do with plants like Java fern, Java moss and floating plants like water lettuce in a 400 gallon tank?
Hey cichlid bros, love ur videos, I bought a 75 gallon tank and I want to have a electric blue acara, firemouth cichlid and a green terror but I don't know if it is a good idea plz respond
It would probably depend on the tank size, but overall, angels might get picked on by those others. I normally wouldn't recommend it, but I've seen it done
I had a few angel fish with a very similar group of fish and their streamers kept getting torn up by my jack dempsey and convict, so I wouldn't recommend putting them with faster more aggressive fish.
Cichlid Bros does it still do well with the green terror...I’m setting up a green terror tank and want to find some tank mates that aren’t aggressive. Really looking for some complimentary fish. Any ideas?
Gabriel Gibbons sure! if you have a sizable tank, tin foil barbs, silver dollars and Bala sharks are relatively peaceful tank mates that can hold their own. Giant danios work well for the first couple years, but a full grown green terror may go after them
@@CichlidBros I’m supposed to be moving end of the year early next year so that could work I have a month to research more though before the tank arrives thanks for the reply
Gorgeous fish! I just got a green terror myself. He's about 3.5" in a 160g with a similar sized oscar, red devil and bichir! I didn't realize they grew so slowly? Only 5" after 1 year? I hope mine grows faster because I need him to stay relatively the same size as his tank mates if I want them to live together successfully because I know Oscars and Red Devils will get pretty large in 1 year.
Thanks! In our experience, Oscars will outgrow them to a certain degree, but our Green Terror has put on size pretty consistently as well. We just posted another update and video on his growth rate over the past 13 months - about 1 inch to ~6 in that span
I have a green terror pair, but they havent eaten a single pellet after i put them into my tank. Initially i put them with my ember tetras (as i didnt have extra tank) they didnt attack the tetras, so i thought COOL! But later i realised they arent eating anything. Its been one month now, i am really worried now. Its a 100G tank and i have taken out the tetras as well. I have tried all kinda food from worms to pellets, no improvement. Can you help me?
Sunil Kumar hey there. First thing I would check is your parameters. If there’s ammonia/nitrite at all, that could be the cause. If that’s not it, then he may have some disease - I’ve seen that GTs are susceptible to internal parasites (worms). Does he have any other symptoms like being lethargic or white, stringy poop?
Hey Guys... great channel. New sub here! I was considering getting one for my 75. In that tank I have an adult JD and a young Red Devil. Still thinking!
Hey just want to say very good video I’m getting a 60 gallon tank and plan to stock it with 2 make green terrors and 2 black convicts.... do you think that will work out well if not what could I place with the green terror since that’s the fish I want the most , also I have a 20 gallon tank that is in a full algae bloom and I can’t seem to get rid of it any advice ? Thank you !
Noah Chapman thank you! I think one green terror and convicts could go well in a 60, but two male GTs would make it a little tight. They’ll be fine as juveniles but would need a bigger tank down the line. For algae, I’d consider keeping lights on for less time, and potentially adding snails or live plants 👌🏻
