It would be nice if you could show the various popular bell patterns in a lesson with the proper counting. Thank you
That is definitely in the plans!!! Thanks for the input!
@@APercussionLife can't wait for that one.
Love the sound of that Black Mamba! Classic.
The musical section at the end is giving me life!
I ordered the 7 3/4. The interval between the high and low tone plus the smooth attack on the low and crisp high. Sooo good
The smile when you play La Gorda!
And you surprise me yet again. Everything I'm looking into, there you are with a video explaining everything 👍🏼
I bought the third Meinl cowbell and just got it today. It’s louder than I thought in a good way. Need to put those muffs on still. Great videos man, Thanks again!
I’m new to playing Latin percussion and starting with cowbell, and this is without question the best cowbell video out there! ❤❤❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙌🏼
Cowbell and the bongos are the most beautiful of Latin Percussion
I think while I like large bell, especially the open tone a whole lot, the smaller one seemed more appropriate for the song. There isn't a lot of low end in that part and the low bell seemed out of place, where the frequencies of the high one blended better. I don't think I liked the black coated one at all.
que gran sonido consigues Eric!!! mágicamente en sincronía diría que me conquista el alma esa bella campana "gorda"..uuhfff sueeeena increible!!!! gracias por esta tremenda entrega.
I loved the first bell in the mix it was so fitting. The big fat one was cool too. Man bells are sic!!
don't like the small bell but the black mamba and gorda are fantastic! Loved how it sound in context with the song, thanks!!
Rock the bells 🔔 very helpful video like always my bro.thanks
Amazing video man! Thanks! I loved the demo too
Thanx, great explanation/tutorial on these bells
I like the large bell the best. Coming from the perspective of a blind percussionist, I know what it is like testing multiple bells for their sound qualities.
Dayummmmm Eric. Kiubo compadre. Lol I love going back to this video, the low bell just sounds so good.
Boy that big ol’ fat bell sounds great. Sweet highs at the base of the bell. And a lovely gonk on the open mouth. Quite a nice choked warm sound. Love it.
Love it!!!
Eric !! Definitely ,the black mamba ,sound the best. Happy thanksgiving, saludos.
Only you could make a video about musical cowbells sound fun, awesome, interesting and educational.
The first cow bell reminded me of the intro to Wars song Low Rider.
drumming dog haha sooo true!
The beater is the Meinl COW3BK, that's the synthetic one.
Totally!! The big grey one is awesome.. Be nice to have some bell patterns on weekday work outs. Thanks for sharing as always bro
Cool!...very cool!!!
In that demo the best sounding bell was the Black one. It was perfect for that mix.
Meinl has some great cymbals too. Perhaps you can take some Byzance thin crashes, splashes, and chinas... oh yeah, Meinl has a cymbal series specially for percussionist called "Candela", which has many variations to choose and of course they can be hit by our pure hands instead of drum sticks.
Thumbnail 14:24 I made that same exact smile hearing that big bell lol😆
Hahaha yeaaa who wouldn’t haha
Hey, Eric. I have been following your bongo, tumba and cencerro demos. Da' Bomb! I bought the smaller one for my wife and she chose it out of the middle bell. I am going to reorder for el gordo tomorrow. You do great work man. The best to you and familia.
Hi Eric. Good vid as always! The last bell (fat wide one) is the best sound.......only just! The black one second. Don't you just love it!
Beautiful. thank you.U da man.
Low bell is a beast!!
Yessss!!!
oye E... double sided tape works pretty good for mufflin' a campana. i know you're on the team so u get hooked up with their stuff and actually those mufflers look better than LP's mufflers but i just thought i would mention the trick of double sided tape I've used.. keep doin ya thang monina..
All nice cowbells. Nice playing too!
Eric, hands down "La Gorda" is best suited for the montuno you were playing on. The black one is not bad, the small one I think it will be best suited for something like boogaloo. Anyway really nice work Bro! Oh the Gorda looks like a bell I have made by JCR in NYC. Oh and make sure you get your son ready for playing los bongoses! :D
Yea man I love “La Gorda” hahaha
I feel a little outside and forgotten. I’m not a day 1 and not a new subscriber. I’m stuck in the middle :(
Patrick Castillo From the First day you subscribed.... you’re considered a Day 1 to me! Thanks for the support and Love Pat!
All the three sound good but I like La Mamba Negra
Estas seguro que "la gorda" es el modelo STB785 ?. La marca Meinl tiene otro modelo mas gordo STB815, me suena más a este último. Por otro lado el palo es de resina o de madera? . Gracias por tus videos.
Gracias, elijo la tercera
Thank you, Erik; I was unsure what type of cowbell I was going to buy. After I saw your video I am definitely convinced. I love that big one "Fat", but you know, playing salsa for couple hours you'll need some muscles. I go for the mid one! Thank you, Brother, and God Bless you!!!
Hi, what about a campana tutorial video?
I have a few Meinl Cowbells and I don't like the one use muff pads they give. It's better to stuff them with polyfill so can be tune to loudness and stop the ringing. They are all good anyway. Trying to figure out the best ine for Cha Cha on Timbale. I already have a cocktail drum set 4-bell Meinl cluster on a Z-bar. Will end up with too many if I don't get the right Salsa/Mambo bell. This was a helpful video.
Me gusta La Gorda! Great vid Eric
You couldn’t fake which one you liked the most. I had the same face when you started playing the big one :) Great video! I love cowbells too. My first instrument too. I have one from LP but I want more, different models I definitely want the big one now.
I saw a long interesting interview and it came up that someone took parts from airplanes and made cowbells and a famous manufacturer copycated it. I don’t know if it’s true, that’s what I heard.
Yessss!!! And man that’s interesting!
I love the “black mamba” bell sound on this demo track. A nice crisp bass tone ^^
Yeaaa has a nice dry approach!
I hear a warble in the black mamba open tone. Am I hearing things? The other two sound best to me.
Hey Eric, great video thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us... I really enjoyed the first and third (La Gorda! Lol) cowbells, could you tell the product number and dimensions on the bell so I can look into them... Thank you once again bro, God Bless...
Congratulations are you're playing a good bell/campana;I thought that only me plaids with that swing, as well I had other tricks.
Take care.
Cheers!
I like your channel Eric and your tutorials, really amazing. I subscribe recently and I would like if you could prepare a video teaching how to play cowbell in salsa rhythm (in 3-2 and 2-3 clave), techniques and tips as always. Thanks and congratulation.....y que siga la salsa!!!
La gorda sounds great! But that stick seems too lite need something a little heavier!!!!
Which bell would you say I'm most comparable to the LP E-S9? I keep cracking them. 🤦🏾♂️
For me the small bell was a bit too high for the tune, and could have been un-muted, but I'm sure it sounded different in the room. The neck sounds on the black bell (which I preferred) and large bell were really nice! A combination of those would have suited me :D
Best bell on its own was the large bell, but do Meinl make any even lower bells, for any really meaty cha-chas or Yambus?
Nice analysis!!!!! And I think they do... I’m gonna check on that... I’m a huge fan of very low bells
Can someone list the model number of those cowbells.
La gorda man. The mid one too. Good sound for the price. Tx.
Hand Bell Mambo pattern/variations tutorial???????
Nick de Béky coming soon!!!
The small one is perfect for cumbia, but terrible for salsa. The black mamba sounds way too muted, like it’s filled with socks and it wouldn’t work well in a live setting unless it’s super low volume. The gorda is nice. I think it may fall a bit short (in terms of volume) in live setting too, but it has a much rounder tone that makes it appealing than the other two. I’ve recently become a CP (Colombian Percussion) convert. Their cowbells are my baseline point of comparison because they are that good.
I agree! And Trust man!!! My main bell is a CP!!! That bell is just tooo fire!!!
I like the low bell the best. It’s too bad Cali passed on. He made the best bells as well as the best conga heads and other percussion instruments.
Mas campana lol the nickel brushed is the best sabor
Enseñanos ha tocar la campana porfa
Do they have a mounted version of la gorda?
The large bell sound great to me the best 😅
Seria perfecto estos videos en español
Eric where do you get the backing track you use?
what is La Gorda model number?
ERIC!!!!! GUESS WHAT?!!?!!!!!?!? I GOT A FEVER AND THE ONLY PRESCRIPTION IS MORE COWBELL!!!!!!!!!!! YOU GOT THE MEDICINE FOR ME BRO????!!!!!!?!!???!!?!?
David McAninch HAHAHAHAHAHA FAVORITE SNL SKIT EVERRRR
I ended up buying the 3rd bell you play on this video “La gorda” it has a beautiful sound. I think that’s why you needed up playing it twice :) Would you know if there’s a mounting version of this bell. I’d love to have that sound for a double bell pattern. I’ve searched but haven’t been able to find the same sound this bell produces.
El 3 era me gusta que medida es para comprarlo please.
Gracias! Lo puse en la descripción para que lo puedes ver.
Want those cowbells man awesome! Plus I have meinl mini bongos & due to small hands for a young lady I can play them with ease & use them to accent with my LP Giovanni galaxy bongos & congas & LP Aspire congas. As mentioned on one of your videos that mienl mini bongos beat the LP ones so team mienl on that one! Want to hear your son play more on the mini bongos & mini conga I saw him play now that would be worth seeing & a treasure for you to have & remember your son as a young boy!
Which one would be the best for salsa sound
I am a little late on this but I have been spoiled with J.C.R. bells
Que modelo es la 3ra o la Gorda como tu lo dices..si me pudieras decir por favor
How can I get the muff
LMAO. Black MamBa 😂 ReMamba the Mambo? ^5 My neighbor heard the bells...Heard him say..."yah got rings on ur fingers"...now.."yah got bells on ur toes" gave him S
haKa sign with my foot
\000/ hang loose👍
By any chance have you or anyone here played the LP ES-15? I was wondering what you'd recommend between the Big Meinl and the ES-15
Does meinl already include mufflers with their bells? Or do they have to be ordered separately
@@samuelluchsinger2502 they are included
now best campana is a JCR bell(low pitch for me cuz im old school). Pete Lugo is making a hell of a campana too and Uli percussion too. but there ain't a better bell in history than the old cuban bells with rivets on the side instead of welding. LOW and DRY as hell. best sound in the world. those are all the ones i stick to. then u can go even farther back to the JOPA bells and the old BLUM'S bells....
The black one.
Como se llaman las gomitas que le ínstalas dentro de la campana?
Cual es mejor meinl o LP tu humilde opinión ?
Muy seca la negra sin la sordina...pa que estilo se pudiera usar ese tono ,?
Pienso más para el Rock.
9:54 Do you put them right at the edge? Does it make a difference where?
All definitely go with the wood beater. The black mamba & the gorda are it!!
The other is only good for cha cha single stroke.
Still not enough Cowbells!!
I love that beat @6:11 what is it called?
Se podrá en español este vídeo jajajaja
Black Momba
I missssss JCR.
bongosabroso I still have the one I got from Cali 15yrs ago! It’s one of his High bells he use to do! Still sounds beautiful!
@@APercussionLife I got 3 JCR cowbells. Got my first one in the early 70's from him.
The guy that made them with Cali makes cowbells now.
Where do you get the muffs?
hello world Anybody know what happen to Giovanni hidalgo and sorry for this question
Unfortunately, Giovanni had to have 2 (I believe) fingers amputated due to complications from Diabetes. I saw a video of him playing just recently. He appears to have been through great stress due to the loss of his fingers, which is expected for someone who has devoted his entire life to mastering the drum. And we hope and pray that he comes through like the mighty drum warrior that he is, after his terrible ordeal. He seemed to be in good spirits. God Bless him.
thank you for you reply
Soooooo...you really want to know how I feel?
As a bongo player, the bell has to be $$$$.
Although I was a LP endorser, I ALWAYS use JCR bells. Since his passing, they are verrrry hard to find and if found verrrrry expensive. Osiris bells are also well made. The BLACK MAMBA sound great. Dry sound. That medium pitch but deep at the same time.
La Gorda is NICE. It has a nice ring to it. That one should sound nice in a FULL salsa band. The key thing is that the bell BLENDS with the timbal bell. If not....it's gonna sound like Santa Clause...Santa Clause....the bells have to sound like one bell, with a drive. I currently use Pescao from PR and an Osiris bell. Always open to new companies. But I am a HUGE CRITIC on bells. If they don't blend...pa la basura...break them in and hope the do well for u bro....
bongosabroso completely agree! I’ve been using a CP medium bell... de Columbia... that thing has been my go to!!!
how can one get just a muffling stikcky thing?
Abraham Rosales just look for little foam tape patches
Sinseramente El sonido de esas campanas nada que ver 👎👎
Por me the JCR are the best.
Nothing personal Eric, but you speak too much, so you need to go right to the point. Thanks
fantastico no comer cerdo ni comidas processo grasso ni cosas mal . limpio todo en tu cuerpo con sal y aqua y tequila y tocar mas libre nadar en el mar .
