Great tutorial! I have the pattern but haven't chosen fabrics yet. I really appreciate the time you put into figuring out sizes for the background FPP pieces and for sharing them.
I don't think I'd even attempt something like this before I saw your video. You've organized this so well that it makes it easy for the rest of us. Thanks so much! I can't wait to try it.
You saved my life! I bought the pattern and had no idea what I was getting myself into. Having never done a paper quilt pattern, you explained this fabulously and made this easier!! Thank You!
Thank you so much for sharing the sizes you used for the background. I really like the stars in this pattern. I think they make this quilt shine, literally❣️I really want to make this sometime in 2024. I can't wait to see the finished quilts that you and your friend are making.
Thanks for figuring out the precuts. I made McCommas Beauty when it first came out, and we just used long strips of fabrics rather than precuts. That’s not as economical, but it was how I was taught. I’m looking forward to trying my hand at this. I love paper piecing!
Thank you for your video! I can’t tell you how long I have had this pattern and did not attempt it because I really couldn’t make heads or tails about how to go about putting it together so again thank you so glad I found you❤️
i joined your website , i love this pattern by Annie and i love that you can instruct this PP project. thank you for your gracious devotion to help us learn. ❤
Thank you thank you. I’ve had this pattern for awhile now and just haven’t dared to do it without guidance. I’m subscribing and liking now. Can’t wait for your help with this pattern.
The other edge of the Add a Quarter ruler is a knife edge style (but not sharp). It is intended to use to fold over your paper so you don’t need to use the edge of the pattern. This looks like a fun (!) pattern. Thanks for sharing!
Your stars look amazing. Tutorial turned out great! Sill hate piece 4. But it’s getting easier. Love the Washi tape trick. I use sewline glue on piece 1. The lock stitch is also helpfu tip. I’m still slow but each time I do one I’m getting faster. ❤
your hard work really helped me, I did struggle with a few stars prior to finding your tutorial, thank you, I just finished the first half of the star and look forward to making the B half!
I've never seen anything like this. Yet alone paper piece. I've just found out about HST PAPERS about a month ago. I don't think this is a newbie pattern by I'm definitely going to put on my Bucket Quilt List!
I just finished this quilt. Did a queen size, but turning it into a king size. Had a rough time putting the quilt together. It done now I have to put a border on it. I would make again.
Thanks for the video. I've been thinking about doing this pattern and after seeing this video, I feel confident I can do this! Would you consider doing Skulliver from legit kits? Got the pattern, but want to do that with my scraps. Hope you do a halloween quilt along again!
What in the world????? How did I not know about this?? I really think I need to do this, this quilt is amazing! Thank you for bringing it to my attention.
Hi. Absolutely love your videos! Almost ready to put the Butterfly quilt together. I have the pattern for Atomic Starburst….looking forward to starting this one. When will the next video be up for this quilt? (No pressure) ❤
Super nice job of instruction. It is easy to underestimate the difficulty of just flipping the piece over and stitching the right line. I have a lot of "Tula" scrap because there is so much fussy cutting the prints but here the color is all that matters, and Tula color is great. The black background is beautiful. And it doesn't compete with the other color in the stars. This is a quilt that should use up scrap you can't bear to throw out, but can't fit in to a larger quilt. I must admit to the struggle with waste of fabric. Because it is so expensive. But it is waste until it is in a finished quilt. Does the pattern tell how much fabric is required for the background? I always underestimate the fabric amount for backgrounds. Where do you get the paper to print on? Can I get it at staples? I do know what newsprint is for artists. Would it be in an art supply? Thanks.
Thank you!! I have a link to the newsprint paper in the description below the video! Also, the pattern does tell you how much for all the background of the quilt, but it does not give precuts to the backgrounds in the starbursts. The pattern says to use the scraps from cutting the sashing, but I found that pretty hard to do. So, I figured out precuts for the Starburst backgrounds and provided them in the video! Thanks for watching!!
I usually do a stay stitch line (using a basting stitch that can be removed) between the seam line and the cutting line since there's so much bias. Do you find that the bias stretches?
I have the whole top together, but g and h has a part stick out that doesn’t look right. I’ve gone over it a ton. And don’t know what to do, too scared to try and square it up
I'll be putting the top together in the next week, I'll see what happens for me when I get to that point! On Point quilts can be a little mind bending sometimes.
My pattern doesn’t say to cut the Diamond background like you showed on the video. Also your edges look wider than my pattern shows. Are there 2 different patterns. Loved the video
Tutorial is great, very helpful and well done, but another hard part is sewing strips and then putting them together. No video I have found goes beyond the star.
Depending on your printer, there may be a different setting for newsprint which is thinner. However, though I have that setting, I've not noticed any issue from just using the default setting. I prefer newsprint for paper piecing.
I love paper piecing and I couldn't help but notice how you struggled with cutting. May I suggest that you get a new blade? You shouldn't have to press so hard... a new blade should make it easier.
Thank you! My mom gets on me all the time about my blades. I think I'm too frugal when it comes to blades, I do need to get better with that part of my sewing process.
Great tutorial! I have the pattern but haven't chosen fabrics yet. I really appreciate the time you put into figuring out sizes for the background FPP pieces and for sharing them.
Excellent video. Thanks for figuring out the background precut sizes....so very helpful!
Glad it was helpful!

I have a kit. Happy to see the videos.
Thank you so much! You saved me hours . First one I did before I found video took me over an hour for just section A.
Thanks for the tutorial. I had this pattern for a long time.
Lo entendí, al fin!!!! Gracias por el tutorial!!!! ❤
This is the best tutorial I have seen for this block. I wish I had found it 3 years ago when I was making these.
I'm looking forward to getting started. My background came in today!!! Yay🥰🥰🥰
Thank you! I have struggled so much getting this in my head.
Happy to help!
Thank you so much for making this tutorial. I bought the pattern, and this will be so helpful. I wondered how is this amazing star made. Now I know!
Glad it was helpful!

This tutorial is great. I have had this quilt pattern and fabric for a long time. This is just the encouragement I need to get started.
Wonderful!
What a fantastic quilt pattern. A hot hemmer is a great tool for folding over paper (and other stuff.)
Thank you so much, I want to make a quilt with these blocks, for a super bright quilt you could use Kaffe Fassett fabric. Again thank you 😊
Excellent tutorial. We can all sew, not everyone can teach. Thanx. 👍❤️
Just came across your video- thank you I have wanted to try this pattern

Thank you!

I just did my first Starburst block. It would have taken me a lot longer had you not figured out the precut sizes. Thank you so much!
AWESOME!! Glad I could help!

Awesome!
Thank you so much for your help on this! You are very good at the steps!
You're welcome!
Thanks so much, got my pattern coming. Excited to follow along.
Have fun!
@@CanaryQuilts Thanks for the tutorial.
Fabulous tutorial, thank you!
You are so welcome!
Great tutorial! I love the breakdown and tips! Super helpful!
Thank you it’s absolutely gorgeous

I just finished this quilt. Did a queen size, but turning it into a king size. Had a rough time putting the quilt together. It done now I have to put a border on it. I would make again.
Was it because it is on point that it was hard to put together?
Yes my first time doing on point. Just trust the process.
The on point is worrying me too, but I'm sure I can figure it out.
I have the pattern bit have not started it yet!
This video saved my quilt. I could not get past the A4 block. I have all my stars done now and am ready to move on with your video.
Awesome!

Thanks!! The next video will probably be up in the next week or two!
One suggestion...Violet Craft, the author of the pattern says to iron center seam open because of the bulk. I did that and it does lie flatter.

When are you showing the next video on diamonds, sashing and assembling
I'm hoping to have it out by the end of the week! :)
@@CanaryQuilts Thankyou 😊
I usually do a stay stitch line (using a basting stitch that can be removed) between the seam line and the cutting line since there's so much bias. Do you find that the bias stretches?
Not much stretching since I can keep them in place. I try not to work with them until I need to. The stay stitch is a great idea. 👍
What fabric did you use for the starburst stars
Joyful Joyful by Stacy Iest Hsu for Moda Fabrics! Thanks for asking.
Thanks
Can this be made another way other than paper piecing
That is how the pattern is set up, they don't give another option. After making it, paper piece is really the way to go.
How long are the 1" strips?
I think they were 8 or 9", measure that out first and see if it will work. Thanks for asking!
My pattern doesn’t say to cut the Diamond background like you showed on the video. Also your edges look wider than my pattern shows. Are there 2 different patterns. Loved the video
Someone commented that there is an older version of this pattern that is slightly different. I didn't know there was an older version!
Tutorial is great, very helpful and well done, but another hard part is sewing strips and then putting them together. No video I have found goes beyond the star.
I have a second video where I show how I put it together.
👍🙏🐾😂
sooo, youuse accuquilt or???
No, it’s not AccuQuilt. It’s foundation paper piecing!
Does the newsprint paper require a special setting on your printer? Thanks for video, I’m going to do this in Flower Power by Maurine McCormic
Nope!! Just like copy paper, your quilt will be beautiful!
@@CanaryQuilts ❤️
You will newsprint. Much cheaper than foundation paper and tears off very easily!!
Depending on your printer, there may be a different setting for newsprint which is thinner. However, though I have that setting, I've not noticed any issue from just using the default setting. I prefer newsprint for paper piecing.
You sent me 2 passwords and neither worked and it kept asking for the password. Very confusing.
Can you send me an email at canaryquilts@gmail.com and I can check on it?

ok, no you cut by hand
