    This is the very first quilt I wanted to make when I started quilting 3 years ago. I’ve made about twenty quilts and have stumbled back to the Atomic Star again. Get on your mark. Get set. Go…❤️❤️ Thank you for this tutorial ❤️

    I've always been confused by paper piecing and was not subscribed to your channel when you did this video. When I searched youtube for a tutorial, this came up. Since I've enjoyed your other videos I watched it. I don't know what it was about your explanation, but it clicked for me. Thank you! I also ordered the add a quarter ruler. Should have gotten that a decade ago.

    This is brilliant! Some time ago I decided that I simply MUST do this pattern, but was a bit daunted since I've never paper pieced before. There are other tutorials out there, but this is by far the best - as just a how-to on paper piecing in general, and specifically on this pattern. As someone who is a bit spatially challenged, your mirror analogy was the thing that made it really click. It was slow, but I managed to make my first half and to do it right! I was as delighted as a little kid. It's still a bit early, but since I don't mind doing fiddly stuff, I have a feeling paper piecing and I are going to be good friends in days to come. :) Thank you SO much for the lesson!

    This was very clear, you did a great tutorial. I especially liked that you filmed the entire stitching process (instead of doing the first two, then skipping the rest) and the entire paper removal, which was difficult, but doable. The seam ripper was a good tip!

    I'm so glad to see you have made a tutorial of this pattern. I just bought the pattern on a Black Friday/Cyber Monday online sale, but am a bit of a novice with paper piecing. I LOVE the retro feel of these 'Atomic star' diamonds Violet Craft has designed ... she is an awesome artist. Thanks Christen !! ~Diana K.
    p.s. when I trim the final trim of each paper pieced "unit", I always add about 1/16" larger... just because paper+fabric tends to shift, and I'd rather have a slightly-larger than 1/4" seam. I would also wait to pull off the paper AFTER assembling the block. And maybe even spray starch it before ripping off the paper. Ask me how I know! :-)

    I have watched this video numerous times to make the starburst. This is the only video I have found on how to make the paper pieced starbursts. I honestly don’t know how I could have made this without your video. I have never done paper piecing before and I’m going to assume that this is not like regular English paper piecing. I have several comments about this pattern. I think this is an advanced level quilt. I did see one video that talked about preparing to make the quilt but wasn’t a tutorial. I’m glad that I followed her advice to starch all the fabric. Each and every piece is on the bias. I thought that after I finally got the starbursts done, I was going to breeze through. No way! When making the starbursts, I’ve never picked out so much in my life and I seemed to continue that theme throughout. I think that this pattern is very vague. She expects you to know how to do it all. Very little information. Even going to her website didn’t help. It was all general and not specific to this pattern. I tried to be so careful with the background fabric, but was short 3/4 of a yard. Thank good for the internet so I could find just enough fabric to finish. This quilt required precision and I’m supposed to make a template out of a shape on a piece of paper? I was at the point that if she had actually rulers specifically for this pattern, I would have bought them. This was by far the most challenging quilt I have ever made. I just finished the quilt top and now I need to put it together and quilt it. I’ll add a picture when it’s done. I love how it has turned out so far, but I really wanted to thank you for your video. There is no way I’d ever have figured out how to make this without this video.

    Thank you for the tutorial as there were no instructions on how to make the stars. Am I doing something wrong because there is a lot of bulk at the center of the star. Is there a way to reduce it?

    • @ISeeStarsQuilting
      @ISeeStarsQuilting  2 роки тому +1

      I did find thee was a lot of bulk. I made sure to trim my seams and I ended up using a really lofty batting so it was thick enough to absorb the difference in thickness.

    Do you remove the paper prior to sewing the star blocks together? I am having difficulty in getting the top and bottom of the star to align. I have not yet removed the paper

    • @ISeeStarsQuilting
      @ISeeStarsQuilting  4 роки тому

      I would try it both ways and see what works for you... I believe I ended up ripping out all the paper AFTER I finished the quilt top.
      Keeping the paper it gets kind of thick, but it can help keep those seams even and help keep them from stretching just a little bit while you're sewing the other pieces in. Good luck! Let me know how it works out!

    I really feel like this video could be more clear if you showed yourself sewing the stitches along the way (showing the sewing machine) So it was more clear which line you were sewing or perhaps using a darker thread. I personally felt this was hard to follow. I just purchased this quilt and it's not my first paper piecing but for whatever reason the stars were very hard for me. I love that you've done this video but for me it could have been more detailed visually. But thank you for sharing!

Thanks again for the video it was helpful, I just think a contrasting thread might help drive the explanation home a bit more!! Keep up the great work!
