Hey Rumin, I used your guide a long while ago to attempt a 10 star run, but did very poorly! I attempted and messed it up 3 times, and i took a long long break from silent hill. Recently i heard about how silent hill 4 is turning 20 on the 17th and i decided that i'd finally 100% the game to show my love for it, which included me doing the 10 star run that i dreaded so much. I booted it up yesterday to do a practice run and i actually did it first try! And today i finished it on one weapon mode and got another 10 star run!! I'm very proud because i've never been the guy to do game challenges, and i couldn't have done it without you. Thank you so much for your engaging and interesting videos, it wouldn't have been nearly as fun without them.

Hey Rumin, out of curiosity, does quitting out then "Continuing" alter your ranking in the game? Would love your input! You're a god at this game, bro!
It does alter your rank. 3 continues will make you lose your 10 star rank. You can't use any continues at all for a 10.2 star rank, continuing once will get you a 10.1 star rank, and 2 continues will get you 10.0 stars.

For example, I get 10 stars in this normal, if by chance I play again in the same file and I don't get 10 stars again, will I still have access to One Weapon/All Weapon or will I only have 10 stars in the previous run?
Yes, and that's a huge step-up in this game. In the previous games you'd need to deliberately save over a different file or else your results and rewards would be degraded, but in SH4 you permanently keep One-Weapon and All-Weapon modes once they're unlocked.

QUICK QUESTION! I have SH4 on PC from GOG, 100%’d the game, am playing again on All Weapons Mode, finally gave Eileen the sub machine gun, got to Building World and noticed Eileen hasn’t become possessed from shooting the Sub Machine Gun tons, in fact there’re no signs of her have taken any damage?! Is this a feature on All Weapons Mode that Eileen can’t because possessed?! I’ll continue the game and see if that changes but I find it really interesting because I’ve never heard about this
Idk what the deal is with that then, but I can confirm that Eileen does, in fact, take damage on All Weapons mode. So if she's straight up invincible, then it's probably a glitch.
Thanks to you I recovered 10.2 ranking with all weapon mode last night. I got it in 1:35 hours. Pc version. Eileen death. Now I am gonna delete the game, I think achieved all . Something interesting When we play I'm one weapon mode, colour of save file will be purple, when playing in all weapon mode it will be mild blue. Ganing 10.2 start, will colour the ending you got in harsh blue Am I right rumin?
Did you realize that parallel means "does not intersect"? If two lines or line segments are intersecting, they cannot be parallel. Two sets of parallel lines can intersect but if you only have 2 intersecting lines, that cannot be parallel. If you want to call X something different, I suggest intersecting perpendicular lines...or maybe 4 right angles having a party? Intersecting parallel lines would be the square. Incidentally the square could also be 4 right angles having a party too.
Rumin, I was wondering, is there a full list of all peephole interactions (both front door and for Eilieen's room?) I'm trying to witness them all but it almost seems randomised. Furthermore, do you have any tips for getting the Walter portrait to appear? I also haven't had him call me on the phone either.
The phone and portrait hauntings are super rare. You just have to keep going through the hole until you get them. You can only have 3 hauntings at a time, so you need to clear them or wait for them to go away for others to spawn. Also make sure you are not playing the PC version, as that version is borked and missing a lot of hauntings. There is a video on UA-cam with every haunting, it's called "Silent Hill 4 The Room - Complete Hauntings Guide [1080p HD]".
Pardon if this has been answered elsewhere, but does bumping into Eileen contribute to her possession in any way? If so, does it inflict less damage than say, an enemy attack would do?

You almost get killed in exactly 1:00:00 !! Also, after of doing this, you play again to see if you maybe get the channeling stone? because you know, blue escape name = blue item (channeling stone) for UFO ending, i think there is in the "unused items" when someone look in the archives of the game
I have a feeling the blue ending name was originally intended for the channeling stone, but due to time restraints it wasn't put in the game. The blue escape name is literally all you get for doing this lol.
Experiment. You may have better luck with the spade or pickaxe of despair. The guns are alright on him, but you'll need to switch to a melee weapon to kill him eventually. You could start with Richard's revolver if you think that'll make the start easier. Personally, I think melee is always better since guns will take up space for health drinks and melee is always faster anyway.
i have one question if i beat hard regularly like a normal playthrough can i still get the submachine gun for Eileen or do i have to beat it under two hours to get it.
Anything above 9 stars will unlock the submachine gun. Just don't save too much, kill over 120 enemies, play on hard, and try to get all the memos and you should easily get over 9 stars even if you take over 2 hours.
Hey rumin what about monsters that Henry step on, or thin monsters that will be killed when Henry just contact to them, I know it makes Henry damage his health, but will be it count as killed in the game statics?
I remember a while back someone did Big Boss runs of the MGS games where they edited cutscenes in with the BB rank gameplay. Has anyone done anything like that for Silent Hill? Typically they would just be average walkthroughs.
I thought about doing "all cutscenes" 10 star runs of Silent Hill 1 through 3, but unfortunately Silent Hill 4 would be basically impossible to 10 Star with cutscenes due to cutscenes adding to in-game time.
Google "PCSX2 widescreen hacks" and you should find a big list of PS2 games along with their corresponding widescreen hack. Find the game you want and download the patch, there are some good tutorials on UA-cam for it. To make Silent Hill 4 look exactly how it does in the video, go into the game brightness setting and turn brightness to 3 and contrast to 7. I never really liked the default settings lol.
I'm fairly certain that if you get less than 10.2 on a subsequent playthrough, your save won't have the blue text anymore. So it's best to not save over your file with blue text.
PC version sucks. No analog control, washed out colors, missing hauntings, messed up monster AI. Some of these issues can be fixed with tinkering and modding, but the PS2 version is ultimately the best and most pure version, and has none of the issues of the Xbox or PC versions.

Or shadow boy haunting. And yes. I have some problems with control, unlike previous silent hill games. Here it's hard to control Henry and running. And something else. I was so unhappy by graphic. When Henry woke up in his room, I see the fan that attach to seil rotate with low texture. U thought that was a problem with my pc because I saw videos in UA-cam that graphic is high. But now u told me the pc version sucks. Thanks.

That doesn't work. To keep her as curse free as possible you need to keep her with you and only leave her alone when necessary.
Quick question. Unlike the previous 3, can I go for the 10.2 stars in new game? Do I need all endings unlocked before attempting this?
You can do this on your first playthrough, no NG+ or unlockables needed :)
Center area of forest should be safe for Eileen
There are no safe areas for Eileen in this game. Center of forest is arguably one of the worst enemy-free places in the game to leave her.

I'm going to try this in All-weapons mode. The benefit of essentially limitless health and ammo should be enough of an advantage.

They count as kills if Henry makes contact, but not if Eileen makes contact.

Are you sure looking at the map doesn’t count in-game time? I read somewhere that pausing the game does count.
The map doesn't count towards time in this game. It does in SH1, 2, 3, and I think the PS2 version of Origins, but not in SH4.
Just wondering are you on the pc version? If so do you have a widescreen fix?
This is the PS2 version being played on an emulator, PCSX2, with a widescreen hack.

Can you get blue text for all endings or can only one ending be highlighted in blue at a time?
Only one ending at a time. So if you get blue text for Escape then get blue for Mother on the next playthrough, only Mother will be in blue.
