A great guitarist and a really nice guy. Mal taught me how to play a guitar in the mid 90s, after I had struggled with the instrument for years. His patience as I struggled to find notes, let alone feel and tone, gave me the confidence I needed and opened so many new doors for me. Thanks Mal! Good to see you getting some recognition!
I really love Mal's work on Broderick Smith's Big Combo album. I am really saddened to hear Mal has been ill. Great to hear he's back with us and hope to see him gigging in Perth soon.
Knock it off Mal, you are up there with the greats, it is a shame us Aussies don't support our home grown acts for $45 a ticket but will pay $250 to see a kardashian fart, my life time goal was to see you & Mick bash out the stars songs and man was I blessed at the Sydney Blues and Roots Festival , 3 day road trip to Sydney and back to Hervey Bay to see a Great band with one of the best sounds and to hear you play well worth it
Love your work Mal. Honestly the best show I have ever been to was when Mal and his mates did the Wizards of Oz tour. Mal, Kevin Borich, Phil Emanuel, Phil Manning I know I'm forgetting someone but anyhow it was the best night I've had and that includes all the big international bands and artists. Working at the old Burkinhead Tavern I got to see the Mal Eastick Band regularly makes me wonder now in old and decrepit where all those good jobs have gone where you can have the time of your life and get paid for it. Your right up the top in my eyes Mal.
I know exactly who he is. I remember Kerryn Tolhurst saying to me that Mal Eastick went along to see a Dingoes live gig in 2010 and Kerryn almost didn't recognized him after not seeing him many years. Kerryn said to me Mal is big or huge now. He was talking about how Mal had doubled in body size since he last saw him.
Good thing he dodn't get the screacher, Jimmy Barnes, for Stars.Stars lead singer was Mick Pealing- IMO a much better singer . He actually sings. Sadly, Andrew Durant passed from cancer, he wrote most of their songs. Adelaide was a breeding ground for great bands at that time. Stars were greeat and often played live outdoors of the Brighton Sorf life saving club . Boy were we lucky to see them live and free on Sunday evenings. If you check out The Andrew Durant Memorial Concert you'll see a young skinny Malcome carve it up on a Sraticaster ( given to him by Andrew) and a Music man 130 watt amp. Ubelievable You MUST check it out.
