- Boris Herrmann has had a tough time onboard Malizia - Seaexplorer, having to slow down to do repairs. After the adrenaline rush and too much lack of sleep, he feels tired as he sails past Ilha do Corvo, the smallest island in the Azores archipelago, in 4th position on Day 7 of the Retour à La Base solo race.

Hi Boris, for someone being as tired as you are you're looking pretty alive. I very much hope this will continue until you'll be running into the wind zone ahead. Malizia seems to do a great job again, meaning you got apparently over the technical problem which can be seen from traces on your hand. One's for sure: You and Malizia are an outstanding team! Keep flying -,and all the best.
Two of the best reasons for sleepless nights are (new born) Kids (like here at home now) or a job like yours where you in free decision throw yourself in nature on a rocket boat and sail around. Enjoy Boris! You rock! p.s.: lack of sleep is torture though, I agree! we do 3h shifts here now on land without the see and the waves - too bad!

I've just read the comments and much to my regret nothing to add. Maybe: with Team Malizia you can see what a so called "growth mindset" is - in contrast to a "fixed" one. Resilience, overcoming challenges, perseverance. The whole team is a role model... or should be for a lot of people. Especially Will and Rosie are so inspiring. Hope a lot of young people see the MAlizia videos. Thanks for to the whole team for taking us along and for being so authentic. Great!

Hi Boris, there are handy wipes from Bostik specifically formulated for cleaning your hands from resin, silicone, sikaflex that are incredible. They come in a plastic tube and I successfully use them for cleaning my hands, leftovers from the repaired area.

Hi Boris, da Du 3 Sprachen sprichst ich nur 2 schreibe ich in Deutsch, Sika Fleks an den Händen kenne ich. Teufelszeug - tauch nach der Verarbeitung überall auf. Habe gelesen als Mlizianer wie es Dir ergangen ist letzte Nacht incl. abgerissenen Hydrogen. Da braucht es "variable Antriebsffügel" wie beim Turbolader oder eben bei viel Wind, auf Windgenerator umstellen. Macht mal dazu ein Brainstorming im Tech Team. Schön zu sehen, dass Du trotzdem Kleider nur äßerlich cool bist - mental geht irgend etwas eben ein Stück weit Boris fehlt!! Das darf nicht sein. So genug und komm gut durch das harte Wetter die Nacht!

Less stress as you are not sinking but slowly sailing. The delay forced new routing. Can't change the cards. Quiet period to rest, refuel and recharge as best as you can. Preparing for any late charge opportunities.
Alles Gute für den Rest des Rennens. Hoffe Du findest bald ein wenig Erholung. Die Azoren kann ich nur empfehlen. Hatte schon das Vergnügen Flores zu besuchen. Es lohnt die abenteuerliche Anreise per Flugzeug. Aber Du kannst ja auch hinsegeln. Auf Pico hätte ich eine zwei Restaurant/ Bar-Empfehlungen für ein kühles Bier und sehr leckeres Essen. Aber bitte nicht jetzt gleich beidrehen! Erst noch auf zum final push, push, push.
