    Nice video, I just did this today as part of my 8.8 swap on my '99. Only thing is I've read the relocation kit should go against the frame rails. So I put mine directly against the frame with my tank skid below the brackets. I also vaguely remember the company not recommending welding the brackets, but Idk if either really matters. Mine were really tight, so I used a floor jack with a piece of 2x4 and a mallet to seat it properly. I also ran into problems with the exhaust, I will probably just cut mine. Sad to hear they're out of business, that guy was great to deal with and had good products. Anyways, cheers from Alaska, let's keep these rigs on the road for as long as possible.

      I think you are probably right about putting these directly against the rail. I didn't think there would be that big of an issue since the thickness of my gas tank skid was very thin. I think HD had 2 kits. The weld and non weld kit, unfortunately I can't remember. He was pretty nice to deal with. I think I was one of the last kits he sold. It sucks that he closed down shop because this was a nice kit and the cost I think was justified for what you got. Keep the Jeep rubber side down and stay warm up there. Thanks for watching.

    Great video! I’m going to have to invest in these. They look really heavy duty. Thanks for the video!

    Nice vid, Mark. Great explanation. So, I guess you're staying with the leafs on the new axles?? If so, curious if you explored the idea of coils in the rear and why you made the choice?
    Keep it going!!👍🏻👊🏻🤘🏻

      Thanks Clint, the Amazon guy didn't see the camera when I was filming. I wanted to try a masking transition right there, but I need to practice some more before I put it in a video.
      As for leafs. I am currently looking to run leafs on tons, but that could change. I have been exploring going full 4 link in the rear, but I have to see if I want to build it myself, or go with a kit. My plans include being full 4 link in the rear next winter for sure. So I might run the leafs one more year, but who knows. Depends on money and time.

      @@FMJeeping Nah, little stuff like that (deliveries) makes the vids more REAL to the average viewer who's wrenching in his own driveway. (I think so, anyway)
      Full 4 link gonna be awesome!! I'd like to do that, but on a JL it requires fuel tank relocation and several other mods. Not something I'm probably gonna do while still making payments, LMAO!
      Thanks for the update. Look forward to seeing your build!👍🏻👊🏻

    Watch out for cracks in the bucket, these do add some added stress to the buckets. I ended up welding these to Rusty's HD Hangers.

    Try jacking up the axle a bit before prying off the shocks and the axle won't come crashing down.

    I'm doing this on my 92. I tried to do one side at a time but it was a real pain. Disconnected the shocks and took the rear driveshaft off and still couldn't get the axle low enough to install the shackle to the bracket. Did you have to drop both rear shackle bolts at the same time ?

    • @FMJeeping
      @FMJeeping  3 роки тому

      Yes. That will help alot. You will need a lot of free play in the rear to work. The more movement in the axle the easier it will be to move the parts into position.

      Ive heard that. The owner (or who I think was the owner) didn't mention anything about closing up shop when we were speaking. Sad because these brackets were pretty good. If you are looking for an alternative. Check out ironmanfab4x4 or Taboo Customs. They both have some nice looking solutions.

    Man it’d be so nice just to have a garage. I’m getting ready to lift our 2-door XJ, have the lift and tires but live in an apartment with no garage lol. It’s normal for people to be shooting sparks and stuff onto the sidewalk right?

    • @FMJeeping
      @FMJeeping  3 роки тому +1

      Lol. The garage is rapidly getting smaller with the Jeep getting bigger. As for the sparks. It provides entertainment for people watching. Let them fly.

      @@FMJeeping lol, with my luck one of those people would start recording as a dog or kid walked by. Could get out of hand real quick lol. Someone will probably see me out at a local parts store with my tools all around me. I need to cut off the lower control arm brackets for long arms.👍

      @@DustySteel I don't miss doing that job. It was long. Check out BleepinJeep Colts how to on those. The way he did it was cleaner and seemed to be less cutting. I wish I had done it the way he did before I welded on stiffeners

      @@FMJeeping I’ve definitely watched every video out there probably five times or more trying to piece everything together in my head. I’ve also been soaking everything in PB Blaster for months now until just recently I switched to Seafoam Deep Creep. The rear upper shock bolts I’ve even been spraying through the triangle hole to maybe get the bolts from the top down. I’m excited to put the lift on but also not at all lol. Luckily for the front I’m upgrading to OTK steering as well so that should make putting the coil springs on a lot easier.

      Unfortunately I think that is true. Shortly after putting the video out, I had trouble reaching the company. I haven't been able to reach them since I originally spoke to them to order the kit.
