I'm 67 & from Russia. I fame the the politic russion tsar. But when 50 years ago i heard Beatles, RS, CCR&rock-n-roll, i heard music of The Lìberty! I don't understand the lyrics, but the music have very big power and i understand - it's my music and my way to The Liberty from darkness this time...
Reed is dying, literally, but I have seen Reed since the old VU. Never saw Lou happier and the band more charged. The Czech Republic and its love for Lou go back to the '60s. Havel the poet/president and freedom fighter said the music was an inspiration for the young people and Prague Spring. Later Lou was honored. It must have been special for him to play this gig. This band loves Lou and is playing their butt off. I love the little Sly medley at the end.
Totally agree, every live show you go to you hope you see a band giving it everything like these guys are. Such infectious energy. I love seeing everyone smiling as they're playing.
y'know, i think you're right-ish.... i was just following some stuff of my late buddy michael fonfara, and this popped up, so i let it run.... and yeah, it's......ebullient.... his early 80s band were all toronto guys, that. i knew to one extent or another, as a roadie i guess.... so i was kinda over-focussed on that period, nice to see this growth in him..... i'm sure michael would agree, were he here....
oh, ps, i've seen michael more than once when he was terminal..... and we hung out...... and talked about the old days..... and he had a lot of ......... love..... for lou
Must have been a huge honour for the younger musicians to play a classic tune with Lou a fantastic songwriter and legend, great live musicianship taking the song away and feeling that infectious riff, if I’d have been on stage playing my guitar with Lou to this I would have played my heart out.
Only Lou would do this: classic American Punk rock before anyone knew what punk was! And doing it on the 4th of July in a foreign country- the ultimate Punk F-you statement! LOVE IT!
@@bishlap Lou Reed Live 75 is actually from 1973 and is the rest of the Rock and Roll Animal concert. They should put both records together as a single album.
@@haybill3000 Really? I have both albums and even bought LR Live on cd last yr. I honestly thought they were 2 different recordings bc LR Live sounds better to me - does that make sense? Toujours surprenant , excellente version. Lou Reed restera comme un des plus grand si ce n'est le plus grand.Depuis plus de 40ans je le découvre encore et je vibre toujours autant. I love to much your music.
I remember the first time I went to NYC and turned onto Lexington, this immediately jumped into my head. It wore on my buddy’s nerves I sang it so much (and poorly).
I love Lou Reeds music. He is a rare performer that IMO is meant to perform live. Most performers make a live albums and it is not as good as the studio version.....not Reed, he is always at his best live. Such a great band he always seems to be able to put together with all the different sounds...and none of his songs sound alike as with so many musicians.
Boy, Lou looks rough in this video. Maybe that's when his liver started to fail? The band is nice and tight. They look like they really enjoying playing for Lou. I don't know if this were his regular people? RIP Lou!!
Tony Thunder Smith on drums. And Rob Wasserman on bass. Others are the late band he toured with for the very last two years. But hard core fans can correct me.

I saw the Velvet Underground in the 60's and Rock And Roll Animal in the 70's, and while watching this clip I couldn't help wondering if this clip was recorded before or after Lou had passed...!!!
Not Luberts best rendition of the song. My favorite part is 4:15 into the tape. The reason why if I am ever lucky enough to perform in Europe the Czech republic will be one of those stops!
I think you would have to combine "Rock and Roll Animal" with "Lou Reed Live". Same concert, different songs. In think the guitars are swapped left-right between each album.
I remember waiting for the man. It's hard to listen to this song. It gives me chills. Hep C and diabetes is no fun it's what killed Lou I've had Hep C 40 years and Diabetes 16 years I figure I'm doomed

Pure pedal to the rockin' metal.
Lou the Legendary! He was so good, and this seems like an epic version of this song! Thanks for sharing! Love it!

Yes. I am not sure about that. Garage rock was a form of punk. It was also known as 60s punk. So it existed. But didn't have a name yet.
What a smoking band 🔥🔥🔥
Bowie,Iggy and Lou. Fearless Genius. The perfect trifecta.
I will always miss the live Lou Reed live version of the late liou Reed version to be realeast, always suspenseful, and classic and sexy

Great version of waiting for my man, Lou makes this song sounds almost better than the velvet underground in 1967.
Bowie & him do it better imo.
Lou he is the man saw him live Christchurch Concert Hall in early seventies someone went to stage gave him some thing so good
What a band!!!
hypnotic, mesmerizing, sublime, and the best version
Solo Lou podía interpretar así. Perfecto 👌
Absolutely eternal! The Man lives forever!
This is more Lou Reed than Lou Reed. What a performance. You know this song with David Bowie? Also a great performance. Enjoy.
For any one in their sixties. This music will just get better
The cooperation with the young musicians is great! Very best version this, I think

A much better song than the earlier ones by Lou Reed which I listened to today. It generates excitement.

Of course the band is tight
I'm sure they were thrilled to play with the master whenever they could

He sounds great when singing this with DAVID BOWIE .NO FLAT LADIES ON THAT ONE. ANYONE can listen it's all GOOD
Who is the backing band/performers? Awesome
❤😅😊
Who were the musicians please. Thanks for your answer

There is. I recorded it off tv, so I know the complete concert exists, but where to get a copy?

at breakneck speed
It must have been very hard for the band to play around Lou’s phrasing, he mixes it up regarding the lyrics.
It feels like each line takes a bit out of him. I assume this was performed not too far from the time of his death.
Hard driving rock and roll is no disputing about it Lou Reed rocks
you are right - near the end- HI IS WAITING FOR THE MAN NOW - JESUS THE MAN
What's his guitar?
Is this a different time signature? I mean it sounds real messy here in the intro.
and also the man, the man died the year after,
Amazing NY vibes..................red bull is out lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Masterpiece, 2 chords.
I saw the VU at Glasto yrs ago - Reed's changing of the phrasing of the songs was kind of a spoiler TBH but at least I saw them
hope it was a free concert
Phantastic! Thanks for this. Has the entire show been broadcasted on TV?
+Danle winsky It was broadcasted few weeks after his death on Czech National TV.
Lou needed the lyrics in front of him??
Never produced by the wrong person
I always thought he is waiting for a hustler ... :-) these are the beginning seventies pur ...
He's. Definitely. Not waiting for avon
