We spent about 20 years in education, fighting for the best grades, learning hard and all the meaningless things that do not interest us and we have never needed in life. We forgot a lot of that. We are now in a situation where we are "experts" in terms of education and work experience, but we have never had a chance to have a well-paid job or start a private business, earn enough money to have our own home, cannot afford even though we want to have children, etc. In the end, we are homeless people who do not know if they will have enough money to pay rent, bills, food, medicine, etc., etc. These are people between the ages of 21 and 50 and a few. ???
when i wanted to go to university, the migrants were paying cash upfront and taking those seats. as the seats get taken the harder it is. so many didnt go
It's a rank, not a mark. You can call the top rank 99.95, 95, 500, 15, 42, whatever. It doesn't matter - you haven't changed a thing. It's simply a comparative rank (against other students). Law having an entry rank of 98,99,99.95 or whatever is an expression of course desirability (supply and demand), not difficulty. "School", to year 12 should be a "mark" against set standards (what competencies do you have after 13 years of schooling). From there, if you want to go to University in a particular course, you sit an aptitude entrance exam for that particular course. We have a LOT of highly educated people in this country that know nothing and have very little competency after two decades of publicly funded "education". Credentialism writ large.
If this anonymous testing did not exist my son would have failed. Why? The teachers hated him because he was not woke enough and he let them know it. Political bias by teachers has far too much influence on student success.
You are not alone. We have the same issues and more. The curriculum is sexist and racist. Some Kids are not stupid. They can see it’s BS. Home school if you can.
mmmm you wouldnt want to measure anything, it should be more about feels and emotions. This all bodes so well for the professionals of the future. You can see the effect of the early wave of them now in the Andrews "government" It will only get better.
My daughter is going through this right now. But I think this analysis is simplistic. Yes, students have to study hard to get a good ATAR. But in doing so, they learn a great deal. And that learning will come in handy later on -even if the ATAR rank doesn’t.
Funny how Sam points how in the future, automation and AI is on the rise but these fields arent exactly known for requiring human qualities. AI doesnt care about your feelings.
@@elizabethblackwell6242 both are wrong. More like: You name one good job that requires a degree and I’ll name 10 jobs that give not nearly the same income and would make you broke because you decided to be a ‘woke’ idiot and call the ATAR system pressuring.
@@elizabethblackwell6242 Looks like you can’t read buddy. But if you want at least a good paying job, you need some sort of tertiary education. Or else you’ll most likely be stuck flipping burgers for minimum wage or left for physical labour at an awful expense.
ATAR score means "who's the best bookworm". Unless you're going to be doing medicine, law, engineering or science, you DO NOT need to complete Year 12. Drop out in Year 10, school is worthless. You don't learn anything valuable at school, just how to obey.
Agree. Do not send your children to university unless you have specific profession in mind. The economy has been destroy by the socialist politician and many industries have disappeared with manufacture. It’s a banana republic. Even engineering and science job have gone. Quite ironic that this title is misspelled

Elizabeth Blackwell hint: *The
Aussie kids are indoctrinated, not taught. Change that equation and the ATAR score is immaterial....

A product of great parenting ... a future leader perhaps?

What does it matter what the Atar scores will be for these children? They have absolutely no future under Chairman Dan’s leadership

It's interesting how a number from NESA can determine if you can have a house or not

It should be "and I'll name you 500 that do not". We're now just over educating dummies.
