the shelves bracket its just smart
What size are your U-bolts that stabilize your intake pipes? Also how do you screw in your plugs that cover up the holes for your re-bar?
Thanks man, the answer to my question in your pizza pan pizza video. Thank you!
Man this is the best one I've seen yet, hope you don't mind me copying your moves, lol but you knocked it out of the park... Great job man.
dude...you did an amazing job..id be proud!!!!! im making one!!!!!!!
Thank you so much for the kind words! Post pics of yours when you are done!
This is probably the coolest uds I've seen so far, I've been watching a lot of videos for ideas to make one and I really like yours. The access door and adjustable racks are great ideas. Great project!
Thank you very much for the comment! I truly appreciate it! Truth be told I should have paid more attention to where I put the access door because now one of the tracks for the racks runs right down the middle of the door! LOL!!! Oh well... it still works!
Lol im actually really glad you said that because that is something I would do too. I'll make sure to look out for that. love your vids man very informational and well explained. I appreciate the content!
@@ZlopyZecondz thank you very much! I haven’t been able to make video in a while because life has gotten in the way. But I’m getting back to a point where I should be able to start putting videos out again
That's understandable, some things in life take priority and it's not easy. Specially working in the medical field and things going the way they are, much respect to you and thank you for what you do. Lookin forward to upcoming videos man!
Say brother how did you drill, install and secured the rib hanger bars?
For the rib hanging bars I left them removable. I drilled two holes on each side of the opening with a step bit and I have plugs in them when I am not using the bars. Actually, one of the plugs is a cable connector so I can run my probe into the smoker without coming between the lid and top lip of the smoker. For the bars I just got a two pieces of rebar, sanded them and painted them with high heat black spray paint.
Outstanding brother I just installed the rib hangers and they look amazing and super functional. I'm thinking do you think I can get away without putting in a exhaust stack and just use the (4) 3/4 rib hanger holes as my exhaust.
@@themeatstall9001 Yeah that could probably work. You could just put a plug in a hole or two to help control the heat, depending how high you want the temp. If it doesn't work you can always add the smoke stack.
@@thebbqnurse4010 Thanks brother. I'm going to do that. I really think this will work and like you said. If it doesn't work install an exhaust stack. I'm putting the video out on the UDS. Check it out brother
@@thebbqnurse4010 The video is out check it out and let me know what you think.
Great build brother
Thank you man!
Awesome video! Thanks! Did you just use spraypaint?
Hey thanks for the compliment! Yes, I used high heat spray paint to paint all of the parts.
You'll get a better burn for removing that liner if you drill your intake holes first.
Yeah I didn’t think about that. I was just excited to get started. The next one I build I will definitely drill the intake holes first then burn it out.
I just noticed you didn't prep or blast those closet brackets, you can install them as is?
I did end up getting the paint off of the brackets. I just mounted them in the video just to show what they look like.
awesome video. I am looking to build a smoker the same way. would you mind sending me the specific locations of those closet brackets, and how long those intake pipes are? thanks! Great build!
Hey thanks for the comment! I got the track shelving brackets at my local Lowe’s store. You can get them at most DIY stores. As for the pipes I believe they are 1”x24”. You can use whatever length works for you.
are those thermometers accurate? I thought about just putting a mount for my ink bird
Yeah they are surprisingly pretty accurate!
what size are your U bolts? once again, great video
I’ll be honest with you; I don’t really remember what size the U bolts are
I'm in the process of building one myself, from scratch... Can I paint the inside with " high temp " spray paint (2000 degree) ?
If you are going to paint the inside I would definitely suggest seasoning it when you are done to try and get rid of the new paint smell and fumes. I haven’t seen anyone paint the inside of the drum, but I’m sure there are “professionally” built drum smokers that come painted inside and out.
@@thebbqnurse4010 thank you very much
Hello, can you tell me where you got the brackets used on the inside of the smoker? How do you know which does not have zinc as I read this can be very harmful. Also new subscriber to your channel thanks for the great video!
Hello Armando! Thank you for the comment. I got the track shelf brackets at my local Lowe's. You can get them at any DIY store. As for the zinc content I can't say for sure if they do or do not contain zinc. I personally wasn't looking at that when I bought them. However, my guess is that these are made out of cheap steel. I hope this helps you out!
I have been toying with making a drum style smoker using a water system pressure tank the internal bladder has failed in.
That would be interesting! I would love to see that when it’s done!
How you remove the top ??
The barrels had removable lids. They were only attached with a removable ring around the top.
Thank you
Does it matter how tall the vent tubes are. I've seen some little bitty and some hella long🤣
Yeah I’ve seen a lot of variations. If you use shorter pipes, the easier it’s going to draw air in. I used 12” on mine and it draws air just fine.
The longer the air intake is the larger diameter you need.
Why cut a door on it?
So I can access the coals and put more wood on if I need to, or add more coals if the others are almost out.
@@thebbqnurse4010 My basket will burn for over 10hrs..Only a Brisket needs longer then that to cook..
@@viddy228 Sounds like you have a good cooker then!
Demonstrate how it is done, Dude, and dont just go BLAH -BLAH-BLAH. If your are for the BLAH-BLAH-BLAH- Go get your wife to do the BLAH-BLAH-BLAH.
Not really sure what you are saying bro. The whole video is me explaining what I am doing. I didn't film myself drilling because I'm pretty sure you all know how to use a drill.
Awesome build brother
