Listen to the studio version WITH the lyrics. This is the most profound song ever that just gets deeper and more relevant each and every year that you age.
Knowing a little about David Gilmour's personal life, the lyrics of some of his compositions such as "On the turning away" are much better understood and then you realize that it is not verbiage but that he wrote it with his heart. Among many other actions, In 2003 he sold his house in Little Venice and donated the proceeds of £3.6 million to the Crisis Foundation to help finance a housing project for the homeless. In 2019 he auctioned off 120 guitars, including the famous Black Strat and a selection of Fender Broadcasters, Esquires, Telecasters and Stratocasters for charity. Other charities Gilmour has supported include Oxfam, the European Union Association for Mental Health and Illness, Greenpeace, Amnesty International, The Lung Foundation, Nordoff-Robbins, Teenage Cancer Trust and PETA. What else can be said about this man? He is a guitar god and an incredible human being. It is comforting that there are still people who care about the well-being of others. Sir David Gilmour you have my full respect and admiration forever!
Love your reactions to Pink Floyd! Try SORROW from the same Pulse concert. My favorite live performance of ALL-TIME. I personally think it edges out Comfortably Numb by a hair. Dave's guitar gets me every time. It feels to me that he plays the guitar like a lead singer sings. His instrument is the voice/vocals, singing the verses of the song, while the incredible band members play behind him. More than any other song, SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND (studio/album), gives me this exact feel. There are at least 4 solos where I swear that guitar is softly crying/wailing painfully. I just can't express how their music makes me feel. Even at 58. Keep going, love it ❤
In my opinion Pink Floyd is one of the bands that started "Classic Rock." I remember 1969 and 1970 like it was yesterday. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath are all in the begining days. 60 years later and you can still hear their music daily on the radio. 60 years!!!
My first ex-wife was born in 1973, the same year Dark Side of the Moon came out, so she was a bit younger than me. I introduced her to Pink Floyd in 1996. The first time she heard "Time", she freaked a bit because she a "thing" about loud bells. She did fall in love with them almost as much as I do. They used the bells in the intro because it is a concept album, and they were experimenting more or less with sound effects, the same way as "Money" and "Wish You Were Here", as several others.
If I had to classify them, I'd call their style transcendent. They started as a psychedelic surrealist rock band, groundbreaking, and cutting edge, and never lost their surrealist flavor, even when they matured.
Like some have said, Pink Floyd is usually classified as progressive rock, although they really are their own category (like a lot of bands in the progressive rock genre). Even though there were some synchronization problems with the video, what a great song from a great concert! It wouldn't hurt to look into some of their long-form compositions like "Echos" (studio version, imho, is the best start, but many prefer the Live at Pompeii version) or "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" (which is none parts, but broken into two groups on the album Wish You Were Here: parts 1-5, then parts 6-9). From Pulse, some of their most recent songs like "High Hopes" and "Keep Talking" are great also. Thank you, again, for reacting to Pink Floyd!
Dogs by Pink Floyd may very well be their masterpiece. It's incredibly immersive and leaves Reactors with an impact. A lyric video would really help the experience too. I think it's the tightest and most cohesive track they ever worked on, and seems like the peak of their musical skill.
Another timeless classic by PF! I refer to David Gilmour as Mr Perfection, seems he always performs perfectly. You really enjoyed this one! Thanks for sharing 🎉❤
Great reaction! I might be repeating what others have told you but, Time is from the album Dark Side of the Moon. You really need to listen to the album in whole because it all ties together.
I've been listening to them for over forty years and I'm by no means an expert on the band but I've come to the conclusion Floyd are pretty much their own genre.
The song is a reflection of our life span. It starts out with youth wasting time because they have so much of it that a day or two has little importance. At the end, "old age", being home again, sitting by the fire. Finally, "death". "...far away across the field, the tolling of the iron bell, (church) calls the faithful to their knees (praying) to hear the softly spoken magic spell." (funeral sermon). Truly a masterpiece written by a younger man with incredible foresight! (Roger Waters)
I got to see them on this 94 tour in Washington DC. I’ve seen tons and tons of concerts from all genres, but Pink Floyd on this tour. What is the best concert I’ve ever seen. I was 19, wow so long ago
You should take a look at the guys "back in the day" check out Pink Floyd "Echoes" (Part1) Live at Pompeii 1972 No Audience, No Lights, No Pyrotechnics and a Dave Gilmour with No Shirt, Gods playing for Gods
Pink Floyd is Psychedelic Rock, Artrock, Progressive Rock. I think that they doesn´t fit in any normal music genre, they are unique. Please react to "Shine on you crazy Diamond" Part I-V and Part VI-IX from the "Wish you were here" Album. I Think that seize you to your very deep Core, Inna! Greetings from Germany
Thanks for your reaction, Inna. You bring me old memories today. I had tickets for this Pulse show, back in 1994, I'll remember it all my life. Have a nice day. For your last question, difficult to classify Pink Floyd, they changed often as time passed, psychedelic, progressive rock, and so on. If you want another suggestion, try Another brick in the wall, part 2, but watch the official video--powerful message.
I would like to see you react to echo's from live at Pompeii. I think it's time for you to see them from way back in the day when they were still young men
I've been trying to figure out what genre of music pink floyd is for a long time. Classical rock sounds good to me! they are my favorite music. As always love your reactions
Pink Floyd made a lot of great music and I can fully understand (and agree) placing them in your top 3 bands. However, there is still a lot to listen to and not only lots and lots more fantastic Pink Floyd songs but so many other awesome songs and albums by great bands. This journey you are on is one that will never end, at least that has been my experience from the moment I started listening to music and it has been a delightful journey so far. The genre in which to position Pink Floyd would be "Progressive Rock" a genre in which bands experiment with different sources of sounds, more complex cords and changes in rhythm. Quite a number of Prog Rock bands made "concept albums", albums with a continuous story line music and lyrics wise. Definitely worth listening to those.
There are only 2 of the original members of the group on stage. (Technically only one member of the original band - Rick Wright on keyboards). David Gilmour - singer and guitarist joined the band after the original singer, Syd Barret, had a mental breakdown in the late '60s. To be absolutely mesmerized, you need to watch them perform Echoes, live in Pompeii, 1972 I believe. There are 2 parts to the song. It is truly a magical experience!! Love your channel! Love your accent!! Love your smile! And I love having you join our family of classic rockers!! ✌🏼❤ from the USA 🇺🇸
Everyone’s telling you to listen to the album versions and full albums. I get their points, but do what you want, it’s your channel! You’re enjoying this Pulse concert and it’s quite amazing, so just keep going if you want to. So many more great videos from this show: Sorrow, High Hopes, Breathe, Us and Them, Great Gig in the Sky, Shine on you Crazy Diamond, Run Like Hell.
The older you get, the more relevant are the lyrics. Ok I just subscribed to your channel after listening to your 3 Pink Floyd reactions. Pink Floyd is my favorite band ever! You also need to go down the Tool rabbit hole, amazing band with complex music and changing time signatures with deep complicated lyrics. A good start to Tool is Schism. Pink Floyd will always be my favorite band of all time and you have to react to the entire Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon album, it is the album that made them very famous and spent 736 consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200 Chart and as of March 2023, Dark Side of the Moon has spent a total of 972 weeks on the Billboard 200 charts.
You asked an excellent question "How did they write this in their 20's?" You and I are the same age. Back then, the Dark Side of the Moon was a powerful statement ... not an album. It affected me then and it still does. All along my life's journey, subsequent generations discovered it. Now with UA-cam, I can see it happening again. It is truly a timeless, genrationless work.
Love your reactions to Floyd.pleased you have discovered this iconic and unique band. Keep enjoying the journey. Can I recommend listening to some of their albums - Dark Side of the Moon The Wall Wish you were here.
Hello Inna!!! Your reactions are really good!! I would like to see you react soon to one of the best songs from another fantastic Pink Floyd concert called Delicate Sound of Thunder 1987, the song -----> On The Turning Away! You will love! A big hug from Brazil, Marcos! 😊🔰🔰👏👏👏
I agree. To me, that live album had a better version of "Time" and " Comfortably Numb ", as well as all the great songs from "Momentary Lapse Of Reason", especially "Sorrow".
@@patrickranquist9391 my friend, I've lost count of how many times I've watched these Pink Floyd concerts. The discography is fantastic!!! I never get tired of watching and listening to the songs of this myth called Pink Floyd!! 😁👏👏👏👏👏
Yes Pink Floyd is Classic Rock, who are also considered Progressive rock. They Fused "blues music", "psychedelic music",Jazz music" ,and "Rock and Roll and at times orchestra" all in one over lapping each other in their albums. By the time they did the album "Dark Side of The Moon" they have perfected their sound. Pink Floyd was meant to be heard in studio versions. They created incredible sounds no other bands have. Many sounds can't be replicated live. It is funny because they are also one of the best bands to see live, with lazer and light shows being incredible. I am Biased because they are my favorite band going on 45 years of listening to them. All New "Pink Floydians" or new fans should always do studio versions first. Their best song by far is "Shine on you crazy diamond". Please do studio version. Many young reactors on UA-cam want to take short cuts and go straight to live versions. They miss out on great lyrics and sounds not replicated live. I hate when people do the live versions especially with the best rock song of all time,"Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin. I think it is a sin. You don't get the mood of that song live, like you get mood of song in studio version. Please do not take shortcuts with Pink Floyd. The studio version was meant to be heard the way they engineered it, no other band put music together like Floyd in the studio. They Fused "blues music", "psychedelic music"Jazz and rock and roll" all in one. That is why many of the songs and albums sound different. But the same is always true with all of Pink Floyd albums. No band puts you on a journey listening to their music, no drugs needed no mater what album you listen to. Being that, they also put on the best concerts. No band ever came close to the visual affects in their concerts like Pink Floyd, even till this day. Maybe old "Genesis" concerts gave them a run for the money. So please enjoy live versions after as well, especially the song "Echoes" live at Pompeii in the 70's. Right now, Inna Pink Floyd is in your top 3, They will soon be your number #1 band, like many have fallen. I did 45 years ago. I still love all other classic rock bands like 'The Beatles", 'The Rolling Stones" Led Zeppelin", "Black Sabbath" and "Rush". All these bands I mentioned were also great at fusing different types of music together well.
Hi Inna so glad you enjoyed another PF song from this amazing band, apart from the audio and video being out of sync on the song another enjoyable reaction, also from the Pulse concert you should check out Us and Them, Breathe and Brain Damage, and if you want to get away from Pulse concert but stick with PF you should listen to Pigs (Three different ones) from the album Animals, Welcome to the Machine and Have a Cigar both from Wish You Were Here album, and Marooned from The Division Bell album the is also a instrumental which I think you would appreciate.
As far musical classification is concerned, the general consensus is that they are a progressive rock group. This type of music typically has complex cord and timing changes. Furthermore, the song structures tend to be more like a classical movement than traditional verse course verse type. That is probably why you guessed classical because you sensed it as you listened. One of my favorite songs is Money. I cannot think of a good live version off the top of my head. I know that one is out there. It is more of an upbeat lively type of song. Great guitar and saxophone solos.
There is no classifying or categorizing Pink Floyd. Some people will say they are like this band or that band but they can't be pigeon-holed by a comparison with other bands. Although they are most closely identified with Prog Rock, in reality, Pink Floyd is Pink Floyd. They are a genre unto themselves. They sound like no one else. At least that's my opinion. I'm glad you are digging Pink Floyd. Keep it going. :)
Imma - I watched your Comfortably Numb reaction and saw how you got pulled in. That song was the 2nd song of the encore and the 22nd song of the concert. "Run Like Hell" followed Numb and was the concert closer. I strongly recommend giving it a watch. Also, please note thar "Time" and "Great Gig in the Sky" go together. GGITS is about dying which happens when you run out of time! The final lyrics of Time are people on their knees in a church (ie: a funeral). Keep enjoying life and making your world fun!
Happy belated 4/20+😁😎 Absolutely watch the entire movie. The Wall. I had a great uncle who ultimately lived 112 years. When I was in High School he told me that living a long time was like taking one day away for every year you live. Now that I'm 62 it makes perfect sense. (non-sequitur)
I heard someone recently say Psychedelic Funk and that is what I always would say, but really, they do SO many things SO well, that it is hard to "classify" them.
React to "Money" -- So great. :) Incidentally, I have loved to watch you falling in love with Pink Floyd. They are in my top 3 for sure, and -- really -- I think they sit at the top of those 3. Regardless of where people rank them, the music is profound, tight, and powerful. It is special.
Hi Inna! You didn't fully understand the lyrics of this song due to your young age. But consider it a blessing and make the most of your life. It would be wise to listen to the advice of someone twice as old as you are. I recall listening to this song when I was younger, and I can see how different the lyrics now sound to me.
You should look up just how incredibly they made this song and the lyrics. So amazing. I was born in 64' so I grew up with this amazing group of artists. Perhaps in the future, you do a reaction on their incredible song...Mother. Even Pigs on the Wing part 1&2. Us and Them and on and on lol it's endless magnificent music. 👍💯🇨🇦
Can you react to pink floyd echoes in Pompei, the bad thing is a 10 minutes song, the good thing is they have a 25 minute song in live like a récord version, so pompei is more short than other XD
Pink Floyed is considered psychedelic space rock and blues based progressive rock genre. A large portion of their music is political and social based but not all. The song is about wasting valuable time and some day you wish you could have back.
Technically Pink Floyd is progressive rock, but in reality they know no category. They are literally their own genre. Check out "Us and Them" by them next, studio version.
HI,so glad that you have had THE PINK FLOYD EXPERIENCE. iN A NUTSHELL , IF YOUR LISTENING AND not ransacked with emotion's ,your not in the the head space.I am 58 yrs old and have been a FLOYDIAN SINCE THE 70'S,and i still get emotionally tearful when i listen to PINK FLOYD's DARK SIDE OF THE MOON ,WISH YOU WERE HERE AND ESPECIALLY THE WALL.Remarkably after you process your emotion's , it feel's like you released a good cry and very theraputic.I CAN TELL YOU ARE A MUSICAL EMPATH AND APPRECIATE GREAT MUSIC. CHECK OUT E. L. O. AND MOODY BLUES. Your doing great, thanks for the show. R R Reply
I love your reactions .. having said that I can barely hear you speak and the song is even quieter .. is there a way you could make it louder .. thank you in advance
Oh and the official Classification for the music of Pink Floyd is.... Pink Floyd 😂 Although back in the day it was called Psychodelic Rock, or Space Rock😉
I agree, they are awesome live, one of the best live bands, but they are masters at laying down tracks in the studio and it's hard to reproduce that live, although they come pretty close.
Please listen to studio version of "Time" it is a lot better because you here the incredible lyrics, and the extra sounds you don't get in live music. Pink Floyd was is meant to be heard by full sides of the albums at a time. All their songs lead into each other. You must do "Great Gig in the Sky" it is song after "Time". They allways play those together because "Time" leads into "Great Gig in the Sky". You should go back and listen to "Time" again studio version and don't stop let it play into next song. Pick Floyd was by far the best band to see live, but because they have different sound effects, and Lyrics are incredible. People should listen to the studio versions before Live versions. That is almost true to all of their songs. And Yes they have different styles in the music but each side of an album takes you on a journey, like no other band does.
The more you listen to Pink Floyd the more you appreciate them, when you see their live performances you envy those who were there, they put on shows like no other band. They are my favorite. Not sure what the issue is with your reaction video but the audio level is very low, so you have to turn the volume up and the sound is a bit distorted, both the video and your own microphone, and the audio is not in synch with the music video, a bit of technical issue for you? As you get older the lyrics become more meaningful. Maybe react to the studio Lyric Video version and pay more attention to the lyrics. There is sorrow and lament in this song, in youth you think you're immortal, and are bored and carefree and wasteful of your time, then suddenly years go by and you wonder what happened, 'time is relative' not in the physics sense, but as a 10 year old a year seems forever, when you're 30 it seems to pass more quickly as you try to get things done, when your 60 it seems that months are like days used to be and suddenly seasons pass, it's time for another holiday you felt you just celebrated.
It is too bad for sure, but he does have a few miles on him. Did you see him and Nick do the new song, a collab with a lead singer for a Ukrainian band BOOMBOX, Andrej something I think. It's called HEY HEY, RISE UP, a tribute song regarding the war. Beautiful. If you havent seen it, check it out.
Listen to the studio version WITH the lyrics. This is the most profound song ever that just gets deeper and more relevant each and every year that you age.
Yes, so many of the songs from the Pulse concert are amazing, but Time is one where the studio version is just so perfect that i prefer it
А я больше люблю это исполнение.
100% agree with you.
Yes,, that is so so true, especially when you hit the 70s of your life... It's like listening to the story of your life..
This can’t be overstated this song is a warning from god.
Nice to know a young lady like you with a broad European cultural orientation appreciates Pink Floyd so much as many do in the USA .
Knowing a little about David Gilmour's personal life, the lyrics of some of his compositions such as "On the turning away" are much better understood and then you realize that it is not verbiage but that he wrote it with his heart.

Great reaction, right on the button!
Loved your reaction! Are you familiar with Jeff Buckley’s music?
Generally, Pink Floyd's music is considered Progressive Rock. Their early work was often called Psychedelic Rock.

also listen to this song right from the album dark side of the moon
Imma - I watched your Comfortably Numb reaction and saw how you got pulled in. That song was the 2nd song of the encore and the 22nd song of the concert. "Run Like Hell" followed Numb and was the concert closer. I strongly recommend giving it a watch.
Also, please note thar "Time" and "Great Gig in the Sky" go together. GGITS is about dying which happens when you run out of time! The final lyrics of Time are people on their knees in a church (ie: a funeral). Keep enjoying life and making your world fun!
Happy belated 4/20+😁😎
Absolutely watch the entire movie.
The chain Fleetwood mac..live version. Mirage tour....awesome...you have to listen...
Ciao Ima, beautiful song.
I recommend you "High hopes" from Pulse. Masterpiece.
High Hopes is great, the Pulse concert version.
React to "Money" -- So great.
:)
Incidentally, I have loved to watch you falling in love with Pink Floyd. They are in my top 3 for sure, and -- really -- I think they sit at the top of those 3. Regardless of where people rank them, the music is profound, tight, and powerful. It is special.
Once you listen to the Wall in its entirety and Animals they will be top two if not #1 for sure.
Hi Inna! You didn't fully understand the lyrics of this song due to your young age. But consider it a blessing and make the most of your life. It would be wise to listen to the advice of someone twice as old as you are. I recall listening to this song when I was younger, and I can see how different the lyrics now sound to me.
Great reaction. And you are absolutely beautiful.
My only complaint is your output volume level is too low, but absolutely love you Inna.
❤ 👏 👏 👏
Next reaction Great gig in the sky studio version though
I imagine that you are using a "Virtual Audio Cable", since the sound of the music is slightly offset from the image of the video.
classic progressive rock
Listen to these songs from pulse tour Money, One of these days, Run like hell, US and Them.
great reaction , you should react to " another brick in the wall " from the same pulse concert
I will soon react to the whole concert 😊
Listen to Sorrow from pulse concert
Can you react to pink floyd echoes in Pompei, the bad thing is a 10 minutes song, the good thing is they have a 25 minute song in live like a récord version, so pompei is more short than other XD
Any time you reacts Pink Floyd, I'm wiht You. I follow you, dear. ❤
Pink Floyed is considered psychedelic space rock and blues based progressive rock genre. A large portion of their music is political and social based but not all. The song is about wasting valuable time and some day you wish you could have back.
Now sure how many times people have to be told to react to the studio being as that’s how bands intend people to hear it… then listen to live.
If you want another change of pace with floyd, try run like hell same concert
It's classic rock but it's progressive, psychadelic rock. Pink Floyd basically invented the genre which is why nobody else sounds like them.
Shit, I was rocking this LIVE back in 70s1

I love your reactions .. having said that I can barely hear you speak and the song is even quieter .. is there a way you could make it louder .. thank you in advance
What part of Italy are you from, im Abruzzi, from Vasto!!!!
Caio, Quanda Bella!!!!
Turn up the volume please
Try "Dogs of War" live. It's got a fantastic saxophone solo.
Oh and the official Classification for the music of Pink Floyd is....
Pink Floyd 😂
Although back in the day it was called Psychodelic Rock, or Space Rock😉
Try 'Money" from the same concert.
Wie gut ware es, wenn Sie auf Lorena Mackenits, Caravanserai, konzertversion in der Halmbra, regieren würden.
If you like lyrics in a song you should listen to the track Eclipse from the Dark Side of the Moon album by Pink Floyd
studio version >>
pink floyd is fantastic live but their studio recordings are really really hard to top. i personally prefer studio from floyd most of the time
I agree, they are awesome live, one of the best live bands, but they are masters at laying down tracks in the studio and it's hard to reproduce that live, although they come pretty close.
Inna please review two songs from David Gilmour: Rattle That Lock, Faces of Stone. Have a good weekend, greetings from Turkey.
Pink Floyd are what we call a psychadelic space rock band, witch is part of the Progressive rock (simply Prog for many).
Yep, just an intimate get-together of 20,000 or so … 😇
Hello Inna !!! React "Mercyful Fate - Satan's Fall", please ?
Thank you very much for letting me know! I’ll do studio versions soon 😊
This is acid
you want the live not remastered
Run like hell the bet pick you up !,,
The more you listen to Pink Floyd the more you appreciate them, when you see their live performances you envy those who were there, they put on shows like no other band.
React to Linkin Park
The Delicate Sound Of Thunder live version is better.
It sucks David Gilmour is going to sit on his hands the rest of his days and just fade away.
I'm sorry but, while these live versions are good, the studio versions are far superior in all but a very few songs. Still, thanks for sharing.
Needs to be much louder.
