ON SPEED in MOTOCROSS · I love how the motocross world is gonna end up saying that the average speed limit from MXGP in like the year 2000 was right all along 😂 Pretty much everyone hated it back then! The system was that the track would get measured weeks before the race and some former pro would lap it. If speed was too high, the course got slowed down with chicanes and wall jumps. ON MONEY and RACING · I want the Mitch Payton Solution to race bonuses (teams no longer give win bonuses and instead add to some global purse). This way you could allow a privateer (Justin Brayton in Daytona, for example) to access a $200k payday if he wins outright. Payton said that the money you put into the purse should depend on the space you occupy on the paddock. The more trucks you bring in, the more you pay. Can you do it all off a van? Then you won't need to throw in much but could still get the big payday.
In the 2022 Mx season at washougal Levi was out with a broken wrist. Still came to the races and there were signs in town saying “welcome home star racing yamaha rider Levi kitchen” my first time seeing a whole town (Albeit a small one) celebrating a motocross athlete. Levi did a parade lap by himself out there with his cast on before the races and everyone was standing up cheering him on as he took it safe around the track. Anyway, he had a pop up where he was preparing a signing. I was at the merch rig and looked over with my buddy and said. “Is that Levi kitchen?” Before there was any signs or announcements I went over there and asked if he was available for some conversations. Got a picture and had a good 5 minute talk with him about how his journey has been, his injury, and just learned that he was exactly like how he was in this podcast. Really well mannered and respectful guy. So awesome to really get to experience a racer as a person, and not just an athlete or a guy on a schedule rushing a signing. 10/10 stand up dude. Instantly became a fan. And just cool to see him reach a new level of success. He’s earned it, and he deserves it. Hell of a podcast as well Jase. Great conversations, topics, and just 2 genuine guys shootin the shit. Only thing missing is a couple beers. Thanks for this one boys🤘🏻
Negative lol there’s all kinds of drama in the fishing industry right now. A lot of it is the technology that’s come out in recent years. But I’d say there’s probably more drama in fishing than motocross
