You have to think of it like this, Katowice is not tourist city. When you go out in UK for the meal what do you find? Italian, Chinese, Indian, Thai, pizza, burger ect, not English food. It's the same in Poland, people don't want to eat what they eat at home every day, they also like to try new things. There are a lot of places that serve Polish food during the day but close early. In Krakow there are a lot of Polish restaurants because tourists want to try polish food. The Vietnamese restaurant looked great.

Dining out on a Regie they prefer to cook at home he
      Got very strong genes and

I am Polish. I have lived in Uk for over 18 years. During my stay there not a single time I saw restaurant saying traditional English/Welsh/Scottish food. These were called carveries, fish and chips etc :D Next time try bar mlaczny (milk bars - the name can be confusing). They serve home made style Polish food. All the best.

There are no exceptions, except directly imported English words read like in English (e.g. weekend). Keeping this in mind your pronouciation of Polish words would be very good (as now it is quite good).

Actually on the street with those many pubs and restaurants 16:25 you've missed "Browar Mariacki" which is a restaurant. You also may need to do a booking to find a spot but they serve polish food. Also if you turned left just after that there is "Fabryka Kotleta" ("Factory of Kotlet ;-)") which is an unexpensive polish food place. You can also look for places called "Bar Mleczny" (it translates to a "Milk Bar" it is a type of place where they serve a lot of "home" food - bigos, kotlet, pierogi, kluski etc). Where you were heading later on e.g. you got to "Cafe Zielnik" I saw they serve full meals (with traditional spin but not all traditional). Not sure why you did not go in. And for traditional food 270 meters further was "Zurownia" which is really traditional place ("Zur" is a soup you probably already know ;-)). As it comes to Wiejska Chata lady did not seem unpolite to be honest she was sad to say that that day they were fully booked. She said to be exact "dzisiaj nie mam nic wolnego już" answering to "jak długo?" which means "how long I need to wait". but she did it in polish unfortunately thinking you know polish well I guess. All the best!

Also Wiejska Chata is still worth visiting, some american guests have enjoyed it. For your wife there is a great place which you've passed called "Zloty Osiol" - Gold Donkey. They serve vegetarian and vegan food which you wouldn't notice it's vegetarian. It's very filling. They have some oriental decoration but serve interesting food which is polish inspired quite often.

One rule in Poland with you maybe don’t know. When you try to get in to restaurants or any buildings, any. you should let people get out first before you get in, you should do it gently and even open the doors for them to help them to get out. I’m not sure if this has any sense. Ask someone to explain you maybe. But if that was me, I’m polish , propably most times I will be let women and old people go first anyway even if I will be the person who is going out. It depends of situation. If you have chance is very nice to help women an old people in Poland we are very respectful for the women’s and old people🙂✌️

Unfortunately you can't even compare any Polish city with a huge western city, like London for example, where even in boroughs outside of Greater London you have much more restaurants, one after another. Not mentioning restaurants in central London, where there is just so much of them, so much to choose from. Then again we do not have such eating out culture like in the UK. Yes, it has been gradually changing here for the past 10-20 years but still many people do eat at home, either due to the cost of eating out or just our culture, if you just look at the past.
I worked at Nando's @ Ealing Common for couple of years, and many people used to come for either lunch or in the evening, few times a week. Some used to come to eat every weekend, and there was one particular guy, who visited us EVERY single day for lunch, ordering the same dish. It was really nice, as you got to know those customers more, and it was great to see them coming back again.
In Katowice you need to know where you want to go. In London you just go out and then decide for the food you want when you're at the place :)
I've eaten oriental food here in Poland in different places, but it doesn't taste anything close to what I've eaten for years in London, and Soho was the best place to try out a Chinese cuisine.

I find you as a black British man living in and visiting other countries, such as Czechia and Poland and the related topics. But, it's hard to watch and listen for 48 minutes about not finding an eastern European restaurant that is open on New Years Eve. This issue and topic could have been explained in a much shorter time. Please remember your audience have busy lives.

Andre, the fact that there are no Polish restaurants is a service of multi-culturalism and the government's policy towards Polish employers and restaurateurs. This will be the case throughout Europe

Yes the woman in the first restaurant wasn't the nicest, I hope she wasn't racist because that would be so terrible if she said no more space but there was space, maybe she had a bad day, maybe she had many problems in her life but yea she could be little bit nicer . Unfortunately in Poland I had many bad experiences with Polish people and I am Polish and I always try to be nice to people . I'm glad that most, most people in poland are nice to you .
