I visited Poland around 8 years ago. I took the trip with a best friend and his wife. They tend to visit the country every few years to see her family. My friend is Black American. I'm Asian American. This was before the KPop rise in popularity and Asians were more rare in Poland. We received stares nearly everywhere we went. The Polish staring weren't rude or mean, but stared hard. My friend told me not to be bothered because it's likely I was the first Asian these Polish folks saw in real life. I did have fun overall though. My friend's wife's Polish friends and relatives were very welcoming and fun.
About the climate - I understand your feeling, everyone relates to what he/she was used to in their country of origin, and temperature-wise Poland's certainly more extreme than the UK (colder winters, but warmer summers). Still, keep in mind that Poland has been affected heavily by climate warming. Recent winters have been EXTREMELY mild in the historical perspective of weather observations here. This also applies to the current winter! (so far). And, summers are becoming definitely hotter than in the past. Would you believe that until the late 20th century, A/C was almost inexistent in Poland's shops, offices and homes? It wasn't really necessary (heatwaves were too few and short).
@@inorb1 No, it was not. Until the late 20th century the average number of 30+ Celsius days - for example in Warsaw - was around 4-5 (four-five) in the whole year. Only. Now it's somewhere around 10, which means that still the big majority of all summer days are cooler than 30 degrees. The summer average maximum is somewhere around 25 degrees in Warsaw.
Post lockers are not for free in Poland however it's the cheapest way of shipping online shopping. Usually, the charge for goods purchased online from online stores is lower than when you want to send a package to a friend.
Hello. A small correction, winters in Poland are mild, and if there is frost, it is usually in single digits, -18 is only single days (or rather nights). Sometimes there is no snow at all and winter is more like autumn, for example today it was 9 degrees plus.
I think it probably depends where in Poland but yes they’re sometimes mild :) it was plus 8 today where I am, but we had about 3 days of minus 18, snow for quite a long time, and generally around minus 5 to minus 10 :)
03:45 LOL. The funniest thing is to hear from someone from Great Britain that Polish health care is at very low level. Dear author of this video. You're confusing concepts. Poland has a fairly high level of health care - the problem is its AVAILABILITY, not its quality. This means that there are long queues to see the specialists you mentioned, but the quality of services is several levels higher than in the UK. This is exactly the opinion of several of my friends who lived or still live in the UK. Treating pneumonia with paracetamol is apparently a specialty of your health service :D
Actually I’ve been treated in both countries and the NFZ quality is far lower than NHS quality. Poland has very high quality of healthcare but PRIVATE healthcare :) I know girls who have seen the SAME DOCTOR on the NFZ and Private and the difference in how they even communicate with the patient is insane!
@@pandabossanna My friends who lived or live in the UK have a completely opposite view. So either we are dealing with racism in the UK - people not native to the UK are treated completely differently by doctors, or you are lucky with the quality of the health service in the UK. And as for the treatment of doctors in Poland differently in the NFZ than in private...This is 100% right, but it is a more broad problem and concerns the quality of services in public institutions. Unfortunately, the current "democratic" authorities fought very hard against the previous government not to reform this system and we have classes such as doctors who cannot be touched and changed anything because immediately the entire EU is talking about an "attack on democracy"

Hmmm, the car wash is a strange one. Where I live in England every petrol station seems to have a car wash (where the rollers go over your car etc) and a jet wash where you can blast the car, soap it, rinse it off etc. Are they different to that in Poland?

This climate change is utter bs - summer in PL was always around 30 degrees

haha extreme at -18, you should try Canada, goes from 35 in the summer to -30 in winter
Oh yeah that’s madness! Not sure I’d survive haha
-30 maybe it was in 70s , not anymore
Today was 32 C in the shadow.

Yeah they’re stand alone ones, no rollers just a jet thingy and a card mashine :D

Some of the bigger Tescos in the UK have those types of car washes. There's one near me that's usually busy or closed. Wish there were more of them.
Ooo interesting!! I wish I had seen them when I was there ha

I also think there is much safer in Poland than the UK.
You should know, since you were living in stabbing capitol of the world ,London.
There's no perceived difference. It's like 0.0001% chance vs 0.0000001% chance that something happens to you.

Hahaha no all the cats I have now are from Poland, the UK ones have unfortunately passed away now!
Poland is a great place to start a business! The taxes are good and it's easy to get legalized.
How Long have you lived in London for?

Oh wow! You didn't have self service car washes in England?
Not that I saw! 😁 but one of the comments suggests maybe they do exist

@@pandabossanna Maybe if you lived in London the land value was too high to justify putting a car wash on it. Your new home looks lovely btw.
That is very true :) and thank you!!
Is Poland good for healthcare workers?? Specifically, Speech Therapists?
I’ve googled their pay but it seems extremley low.
I think the public healthcare workers are very underpaid but in private they pay well :) (relative to cost of living!)
Most of the time healthcare workers both work in public and private healthcare at the same time. I think it may be Polish Polish-specific thing.
How does the frugal mindset and not spending on unnecessary things square with the beauticians being solidly booked up all the time?
Priorities :) they see taking care of themselves as a priority, so it’s not seen as an unnecessary thing, if that makes sense!
