@@mush1404 Mikio Fujioka, a guitarist with BABYMETAL's Kami Band, passed away January 5th, 2018. His death was a result of injuries from a fall from an observation platform. He was 36.
Mikio was a one of a kind guitar player. He played with all his heart and energy. He will always be remembered as one of the greatest of all time. Long live mikio and the legend of babymetal
yessssssssssssssss i don't see enough comments saying this, dude was an absolute legend, equal of Takayoshi in every way and a freaking teacher at the A1 guitar institute of japan... doesn't get much more prestigious than that imo! such an absolute tragedy and he will always be remembered, i'm soooooooooooo glad i got to see them a few years before he passed in Boston, MA at the house of blues, smaller venue but it was nuts people literally lined up for like 8 blocks i've never seen anything like it even for stuff like ozzfest where ozzy/lamb of god/hatebreed were playing, little kids, old old people, people that were for sure business dudes lol was soooo cool got my dad to come with me who had never really heard them before and he loved it, actually got into my first major pit at that show lol Mikio was freaking amazing man i'm soooo happy i managed to get some of that on video, i gotta fix that old ipod so i can upload the vids >.< RIP Mikio you absolute legend.
I laugh when people say to me Babymetal isn't real metal, I reply "You've forgotten a fundamental aspect of metal" "I don't give af what you think" 💥🤘🦊🤘💥

Many people think that listening to Babymetal is like a guilty pleasure, but it is not ... the metal genre has many branches and honestly these ladies earned their place in the world of metal with effort and dedication ... it is not a guilty pleasure They are one of the best bands in recent years, their shows look incredible and I hope that at some point (when the coronavirus ends) they will come to Argentina and we can enjoy their show ...... Aguante Babymetal 🤘🤘🤘
They were thrown to the wolves with their first ever UK live show and their international appeal could have tanked right there. But they powered through and instantly became a phenomenon. 10 years later I'm still a fan. Any band who has a song that can move me to tears is one that won't ever leave my playlist.
I stopped treating them like a guilty pleasure when they started touring with all the BIGGEST metal bands. Especially when Rob Zombie publicly defended them from haters
I was very late discovering this band. Its somewhat heartbreaking that I found them just as they are going on hiatus. Feels like I made a new friend, and then that friend has to go away. Its rare that a band has the ability to make you feel happy, energized and then...a little sad. In the same song. Live forever in my heart, BABYMETAL. Starlight.
@@autohmae They were still touring through the worst parts of cv19... cv19 is on the tail end and then they decide to hiatus? I don't think so. It's plausible they are waiting for it to die down, but there are a lot of countries like the UK that are already back to normalcy. Nobody really knows what the reason is. It's all just speculation. They might be working on a new album, they might just want a break, they might disband, who knows?
@@Nelekets I think you misunderstood how they work: release album -> do touring. The new album hasn't been released yet. They are currently releasing audio snippets to fan club members.
Thank you Mikio. You are missed but are amongst the stars, your irrepressible smile beaming them ever brighter. Goodbye Yui, thank you for the last 8 years - I have followed you from the beginning of Babymetal and will continue to keep an eye out for Yui Mizuno.

@@charly_tan The song is for Mikio, not for so-called fans throwing tantrums because the girls were wearing new outfits. Not saying you're one of them, but there were a lot of pathetic fans acting like children back in 2018.
My favorite thing about all of this new Japanese music I'm discovering lately is the fact that I'm realizing music really is about FEELING, and you don't even really need to know what they're saying to truly feel it.
i just found this song and i still cried even when i didn't know it was a tribute, now i know im crying even more this song is amazing still in tears now

@@dannyalan2132 I was doing some reading and though I agree it is a tribute to Mikio, I think it's also a tribute to Yui. They both loved stargazing, and both have left Babymetal. Definitely started tearing up after finding that out and listening to the song again and again. Happy but sad song.
@@CsunnyD2002 Ok thanks for telling me, I understand why she left then makes sense. It sucks though because i only recently started to listen to the band, then i here shes leaving. But if its because of health it makes a lot of sense.
I cried when Architects gave their farewells to Tom Searle and then played "Gone With The Wind" and I cried during this. Metal music is meant as a catalyst for the darkness in us so that we can be happier people in our everyday lives but metal can be sad too sometimes. And when it is it's like a punch in the gut. You feel it. Wherever we are we'll be with you, little Stargazer!
Flawless when a foreigner like you uses Nihongo as a non mother language,I guess. We fans are always on their side.Is that right? Let's Stay tune,Stay Rock with BABYMETAL from now on. My best wish to you.See you!
The rage of the riff in the verse and the sorrow of the chorus is palpable. This what it sounds like inside when someone you love dies. I wouldn't have expected this level of quality from a novelty pop act. I've always liked this group. But they've proven their cred with this song. Which is pretty radical. I can't just treat them like an amusing novelty group with a few bangin' riffs now. No more patronizing from me.
Rage on the riffs and sorrow in the chorus is the best description to how I felt when listening to this first time. Of course I already knew this was for Mikio
They may have started out as a novelty but that changed before they were 13 years old when the enormity of their talent surprised even their own management. They have a solid portfolio of brilliant songs now and the professionalism and depth that comes with 10 years experience of massive live performances....And they're only 20 years old. Plenty more to come I hope.
@@hiddenguitardog As a new fan I didn't know any background information about the band and this song but I felt the emotion at a deeper level. When I read the background information it all fell into place.
Su's voice, Moa's chorus, that star in the sky at the end of the video... Yui... Mikio... this song makes me cry every time i hear it. It have a little essence of the old Babymetal combined with the natural mature of the girls. Love it.
Dreday87 VayneMud For all that represents, Yui's leaving, Mikio's dead, the old Babymetal that i never seen in live's shows... yes, this song makes my eyes drop tears.
What an amazing song. Always brings me a tear to my eyes at the very least. Esp the 2:50 part. The rage of the riffs and drums and the sadness of the vocals convey what the band feels so perfectly. This is genre defining class music.
Saddened by the news about Yui leaving Babymetal, I hope she does well in her future and also hoping the best to Babymetal and their new era. Things change and changes are never easy but hoping the best to everyone involved. It was a great 8 years with Babymetal and Yui thank you ❤️
Thank you BABYMETAL for sharing this with the world. RIP Mikio, your spirit is soaring with the stars. And Yui, so sad to hear you have departed the group, I will always love your smile and presence. And last but not least, Thank you Su-Metal and Moa-Metal, for carrying on and recording more outstanding music. And one last shout out to the Kami-Band! You are the glue that holds BABYMETALS music together. Well done!!!
ItzDraco thought it was just me that felt that way. I just started listening to this group about 6 months and it's the only heavy metal band I'll listen to. I'm not much a big fan of Metal or Heavy Metal but the way it's sang into the beat is what brings me back listening to these tracks. "Give Me Chocolate" was the very first song that I've heard from them and believe me I've put that song on repeat about more than 20 times while I was driving. Now I got "Catch Me if You Can" on repeat as well lol
What really impresses me about babymetal is how educated and talented the musicians are with metal: this song has a lot of djent elements with double pedals while other songs sound like old school metal with solos, and others like metalcore with filthy breakdowns and blast beats. Even the screamer has really good lows. I mostly listen to deathcore and metalcore, and that’s why the music blends in so well with the Japanese pop because the metal parts are way above average.
I f'ing love this song. The chorus is so powerful and so moving. Perfectly matched by the adrenaline-pumping metal beat in the background. Mikio Fujioka's passing and Yui's retirement makes this song even more touching and... melancholic in a way. Who knew becoming a Babymetal fan would be such an emotional rollercoaster? This song represent life to me. Tragedy is always around the corner, but even so we must find the strength to move on, while never forgetting the loved ones we've lost on the way. Rest well Mikio-san, and thank you for everything.

I feel very sorry that my decision will disturb the other members and some many fans who have supported BABYMETAL. I am further terribly sorry to sadden the fans who have supported BABYMETAL. I had the strong desire to appear on stage again but my physical condition is not at its best even now, and further I feel that I would like to pursue my dream, one that I have had from a long time ago, of going on my own as Mizuno Yui. It is these factors that led to my decision. I am thankful for the numerous and precious experiences I was able to have being a part of BABYMETAL. I always felt day to day that I was truly blessed. I am disappointed of myself for not knowing the story behind Mikio until today. Even more when I have been a BABYMETAL fan long ago. This explains the mood behind this song.
And the title “starlight” because Mikio fell off a platform while watching the stars that caused the fatal injuries, a beautiful message and a very good goodbye in my opinion.

i second this comment! well said i for myself couldn't find the right words, cause I'm here, listening to this song and licking the way too deep wound the information about Yui left behind..
The first time I saw Yui-chan was in Singapore in November 2013. At that time, I had no idea how much that moment would change my life forever. It was only a few seconds long, but that was the most important few seconds of my life. I remember walking up to the meet & greet table. Seeing these three girls so much shorter than me, staring up into my eyes and smiling at me. Waving to them and them waving back. Mumbling off a few words of greeting which they reciprocated. They were incredibly radiant and seemed so happy to see me. I felt so warm inside even though I didn’t know why. My heart just melted. And because of that magical day, I went on to experience so many other incredible, unforgettable moments. From meeting her again in December that year, to seeing them with the kami band for the first time in the 2015 Europe tour, to getting the sweetest smile from Yui during Meta Taro as I imitated her outstretched fist in Chicago 2016, to her beaming at the whole front row waving the pink SG towels in Seattle, to being right in front of her at the APMAs watching her playing the guitar with Mikio, and of course, at Chula Vista in 2017 wishing her a happy birthday and getting a bow of gratitude in return. And many, many other joyful days that I will always remember. But then Kansas City happened. The hurt, the confusion, the betrayal, the tears. I already knew deep in my heart back then that it was over. Nonetheless, I still could delude myself; that as long as there wasn’t an official statement from Amuse, Yui could still return to Babymetal somewhere someday. But today’s announcement was the final nail in the coffin to all of our hopes. It feels like something inside of me has died forever, that my gaping emotional void just got so much bigger, that my heart has shattered into a million pieces. But enough of that. I didn’t write this to post about how sad I am. Instead, this is a celebration of the past few years, a homage to Yui-chan thanking her for inspiring me and changing my life for the better. Five years ago, I thought that following a band around the world was something that only super rich people do, or something some super extroverted and crazy person does. If someone had told me that I would be seeing a group 46 times in 35+ cities across 3 continents, I would have thought that impossible. I hate going out. I hate meeting new people. I hate travelling. I have minor social anxiety. The thought of being in a busy street, on a crowded bus sickened me and is still unpleasant to this day. So really, I’m the last person who would be likely to go on such an adventure. How wrong I was. It really doesn’t take anything at all. All it requires is passion for the group you love. I’m glad I had the courage to step out of my comfort zone and go on this unforgettable journey. More than just the girls or the band, I will also miss the many incredible people I met. We live in a disgusting society where people are just using each other for their own gain. But not in the Babymetal community. I started off going to shows alone, far from home and not knowing a single person. But the care of the fellow Babymetal fans blew me away. There were fans letting me sleep in their hotel rooms when I had none, treating me to meals, giving me and other fans free VIP tickets, driving me between cities for shows, and many other big and small acts of help. I have never experienced such kindness before, much less from people that were sometimes complete strangers. People who don’t understand will laugh at us, call us creepy, say that we’re wasting our money and time. But I don’t give a fuck. Only those who I shared these previous memories with can understand how much it means to me. I’m going to be honest. I’m dead certain that I would have killed myself at some point these past few years without Babymetal. Those who have never experienced depression will never get it. It’s really not something that can be explained easily. It’s not a matter of “Why are you sad when other people have it so much worse than you?” or “Huh? But you are always smiling and seem okay, why do you feel like this?”. The feeling that Babymetal gave me was priceless. They gave me this precious something that made me feel whole, made me feel complete, gave me something to look forward to and made me believe that life was something worth fighting for. That there’s still some good left in this existence. They were the light in my dark world. Babymetal literally saved my life. Babymetal will always hold a special place in my heart. I may have other groups that I would travel to see, but nothing will even come close to what Babymetal meant to me. I will always hate their management, but I don’t hold a single thing against Yui or Moa or Su. They sacrificed the best years of their youth to bring happiness to us. Despite what has happened in the end, I don’t regret any of it; not the five figures I’ve spent on this group, not all the shit I’ve gotten from my parents for this, not the sleepless nights freezing my ass of the streets of London, Los Angeles, Chicago and so many other cities. Rather, I’m immensely thankful for everything. No amount of career success or money will ever enable me to experience what I had these past five years again. I feel incredibly privileged to have had the opportunity to see the greatest group in the world so many times. I will always treasure the memories of these past few years. I don’t want to send Yui-chan off with tears, but with a big smile, just like she has always done for me when I’m at barrier. Thank you for all the happiness you’ve given me. I wish you happiness in life too. Goodbye, Yui-chan. I love you so much.
"I’m going to be honest. I’m dead certain that I would have killed myself at some point these past few years without Babymetal. Those who have never experienced depression will never get it." I completely understand how you feel. I adore Babymetal but Nightwish is the band which saw me through some of life's toughest times.

Hi @Shawn That's quite a missive. Sounds like Babymetal made a REAL and positive difference to your life. That's the power of great music. Don't say goodbye to Yui-chan, just yet. Yui has, literally, millions of people praying for her. We've all watched her grow up. We all want her to be well, and we're all saddened by her departure from BM. It must've been a seriously tough decision for her, but, personally, I'm thankful just to hear from her (and that she's doing what's best for herself; looking to the future). I'm sharing that big smile. Yui remains focused on good health so she may return as an artist (on her own terms ). -I'm betting, when she is fully recharged, she'll not be able to resist finding a bit of time for a little more Babymetal activity, too; ) and Su-metal, Mo-metal and Kami Band continue the BM quest. Best wishes.

Really love this song! It's sad that Yui decided to quit the band, but as a babymetal fan, I will keep supporting Su and Moa in this new journey without Yui. As for Yui, I really hope she gets well and hope the best for her life. I will always love and support the three of you.
Nothing lasts forever, and we must enjoy every second while it lasts. Babymetal will not be the same without her, but i guess the band can work well as a duo. They can explore new stuff, they can make Moa a "lead" singer with Su instead of just background vocals. I mean, music is in constant changing, and they are too. And i believe that Yui's absence for all this time gave her time to think of she really wants for her life. We, as babymetal fans, must support them in this sad moment, cause I believe that all of this is being harder to them than for any of us. Black Babymetal is the only thing that's really over. I'll support all of them, in whatever they are doing, related to babymetal or not.
Ever since I heard the first song of BABYMETAL, I knew from that day that this band will prosper and reach out to as many people in the world. After knowing that this song is a tribute, it brought me to tears. Without BABYMETAL, noone will ever be the same. RIP Mikio, you will never be forgotten. We are thankful and proud that you took this ride with the band for many years. And now you have found your way riding to the stars. Good luck Yui. BABYMETAL is never the same without you. You have brought nothing but happiness to the world. We all love you. Even though its unfortunate you left the band, life goes on. We will always support you and the band wherever and whenever. Big Love to "YuiMetal" and "Ko-Gami". You will always remain in our hearts.

They were thrown to the wolves with their first ever UK live show and their international appeal could have tanked right there. But they powered through and instantly became a phenomenon. 10 years later I'm still a fan. Any band who has a song that can move me to tears is one that won't ever leave my playlist.
Nothing to be guilty about.. babymetal is amazing
Starlight.
There's a lot more Japanese bands for you to listen.
Why are they on hiatus?
@@hayatzor6249 only live hiatus because of corona situation in the world
@@autohmae They were still touring through the worst parts of cv19... cv19 is on the tail end and then they decide to hiatus? I don't think so. It's plausible they are waiting for it to die down, but there are a lot of countries like the UK that are already back to normalcy.
Nobody really knows what the reason is. It's all just speculation. They might be working on a new album, they might just want a break, they might disband, who knows?

The rage of the riff in the verse and the sorrow of the chorus is palpable. This what it sounds like inside when someone you love dies.
I wouldn't have expected this level of quality from a novelty pop act. I've always liked this group. But they've proven their cred with this song. Which is pretty radical. I can't just treat them like an amusing novelty group with a few bangin' riffs now. No more patronizing from me.
>>This what it sounds like inside when someone you love dies.

Do you know Mildrage, Story of Hope or Dazzle Vision?

YUI MESSAGE TO THE ONE.
A message to my fans,
I am truly sorry for the inconvenience I have caused so many people due to being absent for an extended period of time.
I have mulled over this over and over again but, I have decided to leave BABYMETAL at this time.
The live shows where we all smiled together and became as One were truly happy and enjoyable times.
I will do my utmost best to be able to again one day meet all of you as Mizuno Yui.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the last 8-years.

BABYMETAL fans around the world..let’s all please do our absolute best and continue to support SU-METAL & MOAMETAL and the Kami Band..they need us now more than ever we must stick together and show out true dedication to BABYMETAL but most importantly guys we need to always and forever and truly support YUIMETAL we must respect her decision and wish her the best in whatever she desires i am truly devastated that she has left but I understand why..forever we are the one and I am honored to be part of the best fan base in the world..I love all of my fellow Babymetal fans...on another note I absolutely love this song so much it’s very heavy and djenty (I think I spelled that right lol) and it will forever be a tribute to Mikio Fujioka & Yui Mizuno 🖤
i second this comment! well said
i for myself couldn't find the right words, cause I'm here, listening to this song and licking the way too deep wound the information about Yui left behind..
agreed, tune is Meshuggahy
Totally agreed
HAI !!!!
Meh the haven't showcased the roles of Moa and Yui in a while. So this has become all about SuMetal. So really you mean just support Su
Rest in peace, Mikio.
Good luck on your own ventures, Yui.
Starlight.
ユイメタル今までお疲れ様でした、またどこかで会えることを信じています
Headbanging while crying to this..

metalGALAXYのアルバムは凄く奥の深い素晴らしいアルバムでどの曲も素晴らしいと思う。
Thats some good stuff, thank you.
Wow, i admire you brother. I can feel youre deeply love for them. May the god bless you

I completely understand how you feel. I adore Babymetal but Nightwish is the band which saw me through some of life's toughest times.
SAYING THIS WAS BEAUTIFUL IS A GROSS UNDERSTATEMENT...I FELT YOU 300%..S/O TO YOU MAN AND I WISH YOU THE BEST ON YOUR JOURNEY..AND TO BABYMETAL FOREVER ..THROUGH THE SUNSHINE AND THE RAIN.
Hi @Shawn
That's quite a missive.
Goodbye and thanks for everything Yui ❤❤ And thanks Mikio for all those epic moments 👼

Lyrics:
Toki wo koete tokihanate, far away
Hashiri tsuzuke haruka kanata run away
(This time we're taking our bout to the North)
(The wind blows, the wind blows)
Fly higher in the sky (Like a star gazer)
Fly higher in the night (Like a star gazer)
Starlight, Starlight, hikari terasu sono saki e
Starlight, Starlight
Sagashi motome, kakenukete get away
Kioku no kakera deja-vu meja-vu fade away
(This time we're taking our bout to the North)
(Dreaming now, dreaming now)
Fly higher in the night (Like a star gazer)
Fly higher in the sky (Like a star gazer)
Starlight, Starlight, hikari hanatsu ano basho e
Starlight, Starlight
(Wherever we are, we'll be with you)
(We'll never forget shining starlight)
(Wherever you are, live in my heart)
(We'll never forget shooting star)
(Wherever we are, we'll be with you)
(We'll never forget shining starlight)
(Wherever you are, live in my heart)
(We'll never forget shining star)
Fly higher in the sky
Fly higher in the night
Fly higher in the sky
Starlight shining in the night
helpful. thank you.
Seems like a song for Yui-chan. :x
Alexandre Díaz and for Mikio in heaven...
thank you
I thought the whole song was in Japanese except "shining starlight" lol very helpful thank you
Really love this song! It's sad that Yui decided to quit the band, but as a babymetal fan, I will keep supporting Su and Moa in this new journey without Yui. As for Yui, I really hope she gets well and hope the best for her life. I will always love and support the three of you.
You're one of the good ones. I see a lot of people saying they're not going to support the band anymore cuz yui is gone.
Rest in Peace "Ko-Gami" Mikio Fujioka.
