Circle hooks solve the problem when live baiting. Single hook presents the bait more naturally and if you lift and don’t strike it will 99% of the time be in the corner of the mouth. You then get the option of returning the fish if you want.
@@TH-mq6gr yeah I know but they just wouldn't work on this occasion the hook point kept getting buried in the head of the mackerel when the bass took it was frustrating as when we swapped to a treble boom hooked. I agree it's not the best cstch and release method tight lines bro and thanks for the advice maybe I should have used a bigger circle?
I've caught hundreds of bass throughout my life but your disrespect for this beautiful fish merely gives fuel to the anti angling brigade. You should take more care not to deep hook your fish, e.g. never leaving your gear unattended, then you wouldnt have to dispatch it so brutally and unnecessarily. Please take more care, you're an envoy for all anglers when you go onto a public platform. Best wishes.
@@nicholasmoore6716 cheers mate for the comment I see your point of view. I do keep bass for the table as I did in this video so i wouldn't say it was an unnecessary dispatch. The spike may look brutal mate and I did get it wrong in this occasion however once you spike their brain they are gone instantly better than leaving to suffocate or bashing on the head in my opinion. Look up ikejime it's a Japanese method of dispatch I would say that fishing a live mackerel fishing for big bass is probably not going to be the best catch and release method but that is what it is eh... Cheers and all the best 🍺👍
@@CornishFishingTales-dc4rw Thank you for your kind reply. Im a pensioner now and have fished since I was five years old. I enjoyed your video, the first I have ever seen showing livebaiting for bass, and I have no issue with killing a fish for the table, all I would suggest is don't show the dispatch itself, the eco loons are massing and there are many who would ban our sport. Have a good summer and I look forward to watching more of your content.
@@nicholasmoore6716 thank you too for your comment mate I value all opinions and feedback on my videos. And yes I think I will not show the dispatch in my vids anymore for me it's just part of the sport but as you say they are massing I hope you have a great summer too mate if you can call the westher st the mo summer that is 😂👍👍
A video on how not to live bait for bass. Made with right intentions but not a very good educational video for people wanting to learn the trade. Lessons for both the UA-camr and audience that this can be done much better.
@@CornishFishingTales-dc4rw. I’ll start by looking at your video and see how it can be improved upon. Lots of insightful comments from experienced fishermen, so your video may end up having a positive impact by showing what you did wrong

Try bridal rigging the mackerel on a size 6/0 Cox and Rawle circle
