This song is basically about a car crash. When I first heard the words: "crushing metal, ripping skin tossing body, mannequin spilling blood, bleeding gas mangled flesh, snapping spine dripping bloody valentine shattered face, spitting glass" I was amazed on how fucking metal those lyrics were. I think those are one of the most metal lyrics Metallica has ever written.
This is easily one of the best songs off of Death Magnetic, and from what I've seen it gets hated on a lot. Not sure why at all, this goes down as one of their greats for me.
My two favorite parts of this song are 0:00 and 5:02, because I know at the first one, I have started a song I'm going to enjoy, and the second one, I know I have enjoyed the song
Yes. I got a really nice splash of bass guitar in Suicide and Redemption, though. Although Jason's playing sucked, IMO. Sounded like a piano, especially in the ...And Justice for Jason versions of the album.
@@thefilmeffect6089 i think wherever i may roam is one of the worst songs on the black album honestly. aint no reason the thing got to be almost 7 minutes long. how many times jaymz gotta say wherever i may roam like stfu man
@bennettjohnson574 that's crazy I'm sorry you have bad taste. Wherever I May Roam is top 3 on the album so I'd love to hear your explanation on why it's bad.
Didn’t care for it for the first 7-8 years ,bec of its production, but its their 2nd or 3rd best closer, behind The Outlaw Torn, and Call Of Ktulu, sorry Dyers Eve and Damage Inc.

Damage inc had some metal lyrics
For this case i would rather use the term "thrashy" than "metal", they are indeed very metal, but also very tipical for thrash metal as well.
It's about Cliff's death. That's why it's titled My Apocalypse. That was a truly apocalyptic moment for the band and for James in particular.
HEY HE SAID THE ALBUM TITLE
+devilsrejecthbb1 haha yessir!!
+devilsrejecthbb1 In the song Whiplash they say ''We are Metallica'' near the end.
HeavyRaiden we’ll never stop we’ll never quit cause we’re METALLICA!
RYAN GEORGE???
@@tadslab1140 what?
this song ties with All Nightmare Long for my favorite Metallica song in the Death Magnetic album :)
Nutty31313 ok I'm guessing someone has a terrible nightmare (all nightmare long) and then the next day he is killed in a car accident (my apocalypse)
@@christianerickson3616 thats fucking dark

Horror and Halloween 101 Good song but not the best on album
I think this album is flawless
With proper mixing, it stands on par with ...AJFA. IMO. This album is a riff heaven.
Probably the poor production quality. James sounds like he's standing three feet from the mic for some reason.
i love how these songs just get on a roll and never lose momentum
My two favorite parts of this song are 0:00 and 5:02, because I know at the first one, I have started a song I'm going to enjoy, and the second one, I know I have enjoyed the song
UnholyOnesVevo same
Indeed. I too enjoyed that part of the song.
All rise to Mother Russia 🇷🇺 national anthem
This song describes a car crash, so it fits with the state of Russia today. :)
FUCKING UNDERRATED ALBUM.
I REMEMBER PEOPLE HATING ON IT. I DON'T KNOW IF PEOPLE'S OPINIONS HAVE CHANGED BUT DAAAMN
ARE YOU YELLING BECAUSE OF THE LOUD ASS DRUMS?!
@@zedus1238 WHAT? OH...YEAH...
This song is to all the crybabies who can't stand the fact that Metallica changed. Here's your fucking thrash metal. And what a beast of a song it is.
But...but...it has ... harmonies :)))
The moment you get past the part of the song that sounds like rap with no mistake:
"I am a motherfucking rap god!!" B)
+Big Boss It's like that everytime with That Was Just Your Life :D
Best way to end a great flawless record
I like DM, but its not flawless. Poor dynamics,
crackpotfox Yeah. I think (as usual for a Metallica album) the bass was a little too quiet.
Yes. I got a really nice splash of bass guitar in Suicide and Redemption, though. Although Jason's playing sucked, IMO. Sounded like a piano, especially in the ...And Justice for Jason versions of the album.
crackpotfox Jason doesn't play bass here lol, it's Robert
Silvano Schwetscher pretty much yes
That riff right before the solo is the best riff Metallica wrote since Justice IMO
Alexander Ramos lol that one too
Wherever I May Roam (main riff)

Challenge: don't head bang or move any part of your body whilst listening to this song
+Richard Wilks impossible
it's inevitable
+Richard Wilks can't do that! lol I'm a true headbanger
Richard Wilks I CANT DO IT!!!! *headbangs*
Well, I failed when it was at 0.01
i love every single song on this album
this reminds me of damage inc.
+Evil Grunt 98 And both songs ends their albums.
I hear what you mean
My two favorite Metallica songs
I like this song, but it’s not even close to damage inc.
The drum beatt
Kirk's riff at the middle gives me orgasm I swear, this song is so good !
OmggeTsoo -_-
what its true...
I just love how in sync the words and guitar are.
1:51 the best. Listen.
i love that part
orgasm
That riff is godly
@@sarthaksingh9765 Yes
Thats what I love so much about this song.

One of greatest Metallica's songs.
“Fear Thy Name As Hell Awakens!” Badass line.
That ending is awesome. Love this song
I AM THE TABLE.
I AM THE TABLE why do I see you everywhere Metallica related
Spit it Out? Slipknot reference?
+Nerd Invader 67 Yes, Slipknot are the first to ever say "Spit it Out"
04:23 what a fucking riff man
Your DM sounds better than my CD... Less noise and clipping... How did you do it?
Chills when James says Suffer forever.
3:04 that riff is so thrashy
For me personally, its not my favorite, but that solo at 2:25 is just godly
Thrash!
sounds like hardwired...NICE!
Pat s Agreed
Just a million times better than anything on hardwired.
@@Celatra not spit on the bone. That’s also an all time great Metallica song.
Anyone here "Total eclipse" as "Totally clips"?
Blake Elwine LOL
hooo hace mucho que no escuchaba esta canción :)
This song needs more recognition
love these solos!
This song makes me proud of my demons. METALLICA, YOU SAVED MY LIFE!!! 🤗🤟🖤
For me their best album together with Mop and Rtl.
0:10 the best Part
yeah you're right
Metallica, just make the next album full of songs like this one, PLEASE!!!
Spit Out The Bone
4:20 that chorus is The coolest Metallica moment since the ajfa. Maybe even one of the best ever. So heavy
Idc what anyone says this is literally a sequel to justice that people hate on for no reason
the song is a about a car crash ?
nop, it's about my apocalypse....DUUuuuhh!!
It seems to be.
Thrash!!
I'm Jesus and I'm having a real apocalypse while playing this
Song's about Cliff's death. That's why it's titled My Apocalypse. That was a truly apocalyptic moment for the band and for James in particular.
Arguably the best metallica album
Kirk's best solo on this album.
This song is riff SCHOOL!
I’m looking forward to the “total eclipse” tomorrow 🤘
Suffer unto ny apocalypse
Another hit song of metallica👌👍
1:50 - 1:56 idk but that guitar souded fucking sick
REALLY GOOD SONG
blahahaha
Anyone else notice how some of the songs on this album start similarly, like 3 notes, stop over and over again
1:23.

This song is great. The main riff sounds like Tornado of Souls.
@Tunahan Emre Arslan honestly sounds nothing like master of puppets
Most of the songs from this time sucked. This is one exception.
