i don't understand why this album gets so much hate.. it's the most "metallica-like" they've sounded since and justice for all, and i love it! death magnetic and hardwired to self-destruct are both genious albums from these guys!
Epiphica I couldn't agree more. They're great albums and anyone who doesn't appreciate them are just the type of people who could never be pleased by anything.
Yeah, people who don't like these albums are the fanboys who can never be pleased by anything, unless they release an album just like Kill Em' All again, of course.

why are so many people saying that metallica have not played thrash since justice? this is the most thrashy song i've heard for a really long time! \m/
Listen to the The Judas Kiss and My Apocalypse. My apocalypse is the thrasiest song on this album and it is one of the best songs ever written by metallica. The same goes to All Nightmare Long.
Like a siren in your head that always threatens to repeat Like a blind man that is strapped into the speeding driver’s seat Like a face that learns to speak When all it knew was how to bite Like a misery that keeps you focused though you've gone astray Like an endless nightmare that you must awaken from each day Like conviction A premonition Not worthy of, so you deny…you deny You blind your eyes and try to force it all into place You stitch them up, see not your fall from grace You blind your eyes, you hide and feel it passing you by You open just in time to say goodbye Almost like your life Almost like your endless fight Curse the day is long Realize you don't belong Disconnect somehow Never stop the bleeding now Almost like your fight And there it went Almost like your life Like a wound that keeps on bleeding to remind you not to think Like a raging river drowning when you only need a drink Like a poison that you swallow but you want the world to die Like release from a prison that you didn't know we're in Like a fight to live the past you prayed to leave way back then Like a general without a mission Until the war will start again…start again You blind your eyes and try to force it all into place You stitch them up, see not your fall from grace You blind your eyes, you hide and feel it passing you by You open just in time to say goodbye Almost like your life Almost like your endless fight Curse the day is long Realize you don't belong Disconnect somehow Never stop the bleeding now Almost like your fight And there it went Almost like your life Like a touch from hell to feel how hot That it can get if you get caught Like a strike from heaven turns that key And brings you straight down to your knees Like a touch from hell to feel how hot That it can get if you get caught Like a strike from heaven to reprieve That brings you straight down to your knees Almost like your life Almost like your endless fight Curse the day is long Realize you don't belong Disconnect somehow Never stop the bleeding now Almost like your fight And there it went Almost like your life That was just your life
The intro is ominous and foreboding, then suddenly turns hectic. It reminds me of an animalistic struggle to survive, and keep the heart (from the beginning) beating in spite of death's relentless pursuit.
Some view it as a re-hash, some view it as a return to form. Some view St. anger as underproduced and lazy, some see it as gritty and capturing the rawness of a garage band Some people view Lulu as a complete and under nonsensical piece of trash, some people take way too many damn mushrooms and PCP...
Death Magnetic is definitely the rebirth of Metallica and one of their most successful items, even if there are some things said about it being "over-produced." I have an extreme attachment to it myself, and I'm linked to it in many ways. I've always been into Metallica and have listened to it ever since I was a young child, a lot of songs seem to fit with me and help me manage some of my anger about my problems, their music *also,* unlike *anything* nowadays, actually has meaning, and this exact album links up to a very special day for my family: My birthday. This was the music my Dad played in the car the day I came home. And, surprisingly enough, my favorite Metallica songs are in this album, and this being one of them. Even after they split up, which may be a LONG time from now, I will always go back here no matter how old I am, no matter of how society thinks, or if this becomes "Low Tier" music. (Which is just being illogical)
I remember hearing this album in 2008 on Z98's channel. They had "Z98 Underground" for new songs and they had "Dee Snyder's Hair Metal Hour" and Dee Snyder played this as a 'new type of song that the rest of the metal world will accept as normal'
Literally the only complaint I have about the original album, as released in '08, is the compression, and even then, I can just buy the iTunes version. Other than that, solid 10/10 album.
Haters amaze me - ''Metallica have not played thrash since '...And Justice for All.'' Like bruh, have you not heard 'Death Magnetic' yet or you just like to talk shit for no reason? In my honest opinion, 'Death Magnetic' is a return to form album - Lars plays the drums like in his prime years, James and Kirk smash their guitars and Rob just delivers on bass, doing his job. Overall, a SOLID ALBUM by Metallica. 9/10
My, life flash before my eyes, and death bed song..as a guitarist and drummer I can actually tell the different type of style, but don't judge or give a shit, sounds good enough for me, fuck everyone's keyboard cowboy opinion. If u don't like it, go back to the older stuff or the newer stuff. Fuckn long as it's metal in ur own ears!!
Just almost, almost their original sounds. Definitely had some ...And Justice For All vibes going on. The riff kind of, but not too strongly, rings like Kill' em All, almost. But it's still so good. Fucking love this band.

Flameosaurus correction, Yea-Yeah*
Let us define "clear as day" by "All windows visually vibrate with every beat".
Yup and it's disturbing
Been ages since I heard anything that loud lmao
Ok
James' vocals are great on this. I still value this album despite it being "over-produced". It still rocks.
Overproduced? Recording an album at Sound City is pretty much the opposite of overproduced.
Overcompressed is what I think was meant.
Check out the unmastered version of this album.

Best album out of this, hardwired and 72 seasons.
In my opinion, their most underrated album.

Listen to the The Judas Kiss and My Apocalypse. My apocalypse is the thrasiest song on this album and it is one of the best songs ever written by metallica. The same goes to All Nightmare Long.
I think it's an amazing record, so many great riffs, lyrics and lars has some good creativity on the drums aswell
Yes :D
The entire album is a masterpiece!
Justice was thrashier than the black album anyway
They dont really listen to it, they just like to talk shit.
Metallica is old enough to be your grandpa but still rocks. ;)
Combustible Bunny lol I was about to say "this band is younger than my dad"
Bryan Warde they are all like 54 53 and 52 the youngest being Robert
Then why didnt he say "The guys are old enough to be your grandpas" instead of Metallica
The talent has always been astounding. On their demo record right out of high school they sounded like they had been playing for 20 years.
Because Kirk, James, Lars and Roberto are Metallica.
This album was Metallica's rebirth
It really was! I don't understand how some people see this as otherwise...
+megaman15ish They never died.
*cough* Load *cough* ReLoad *cough* St.Anger
Gowasu God Tuber Load was pretty good overall
Shallex people find it hard to take you seriously when their first five albums exist
They say Death Magnetic is a bad album and My Apocalypse is the worst song....man,go to sleep, you need to think it 2 times,it's great this.
James is the greatest rapper while playing guitar
This album is a hybrid of their current sound with the And Justice For All....... Guitar and Vocals
Death Magnetic is such an amazing freakin' album. Load and Death Magnatic are their most underrated records by far.
Exactly! You are a smart person!
Load sucks but this is awesome 🤘
right U r my fav metallica song all time is "Ronnie"

A premonition
Not worthy of, so you deny…you deny
You blind your eyes and try to force it all into place
You stitch them up, see not your fall from grace
You blind your eyes, you hide and feel it passing you by
You open just in time to say goodbye
Almost like your life
Almost like your endless fight
Curse the day is long
Realize you don't belong
Disconnect somehow
Never stop the bleeding now
Almost like your fight
And there it went
Almost like your life
Like a wound that keeps on bleeding to remind you not to think
Like a raging river drowning when you only need a drink
Like a poison that you swallow but you want the world to die
Like release from a prison that you didn't know we're in
Like a fight to live the past you prayed to leave way back then
Like a general without a mission
Until the war will start again…start again
You blind your eyes and try to force it all into place
You stitch them up, see not your fall from grace
You blind your eyes, you hide and feel it passing you by
You open just in time to say goodbye
Almost like your life
Almost like your endless fight
Curse the day is long
Realize you don't belong
Disconnect somehow
Never stop the bleeding now
Almost like your fight
And there it went
Almost like your life
Like a touch from hell to feel how hot
That it can get if you get caught
Like a strike from heaven turns that key
And brings you straight down to your knees
Like a touch from hell to feel how hot
That it can get if you get caught
Like a strike from heaven to reprieve
That brings you straight down to your knees
Almost like your life
Almost like your endless fight
Curse the day is long
Realize you don't belong
Disconnect somehow
Never stop the bleeding now
Almost like your fight
And there it went
Almost like your life
That was just your life

I would like a zumba class with Metallica's songs 😂
Some people despise this album. I absolutely fucking love it. It’s the one I keep coming back to time and time again.
Best Death Magnetic track no doubt! Gotta love The Judas kiss too.
The intro is ominous and foreboding, then suddenly turns hectic. It reminds me of an animalistic struggle to survive, and keep the heart (from the beginning) beating in spite of death's relentless pursuit.
Extremely underrated!
extremely boring word
1:29 sounds a little bit like blackened
Rock Music Sounds a lot like Jump In The Fire
Its like lepper messiah riff before the solo
The same notes from the bridge of blackened but faster
Speed Metal total
my first Metallica song. I love it
Listen to the "Kill em' all" album :) my favorite
+Myth Plays I'm sorry but St. Anger is terrible, and I think Death Magnetic isn't as bad at people say it is
Some view it as a re-hash, some view it as a return to form.
Some view St. anger as underproduced and lazy, some see it as gritty and capturing the rawness of a garage band
Some people view Lulu as a complete and under nonsensical piece of trash, some people take way too many damn mushrooms and PCP...
+Myth Plays load and reload and St anger are my top 3 bad albums lol
Load and ReLoad definitely aren't bad, they just weren't really Metallica albums.
Metallica 4 Life
That was just your Metallica life
For some reason this song gives me vibes from wherever I may roam, enter sandman, sad but true, ... And justice for all, and through the never.
Through the Never riff is very similar to this.
