The Dallas area is great for thrifting but I do drive 2 hours to get to those stores. My sourcing days I leave the house at 6:30am and come home at 10:30pm.

Hey Harry, I hate to hear it. Prices have been trending up in the states but their are still a lot of places with reasonable prices. It's a long shot but if you could import cheap enough or find a supply maybe you can capitalize on that issue your facing.
If you're buying vintage, I find yard and garage sales to be the best finds w the best margins. There's success at goodwill bins but you go through hell since there's plenty of others there doing the exact same thing, haha. I definitely learned some new labels to check into. I'm so deep in vintage that I'm no longer aware of what is popular now.

Where I live most of the people that go to the bins I do are either not resellers (way over 75% of them don't resell, they are just retired old people or people w/ time on their hands and they want stuff only for themselves or close family) or the resellers that are there are stupid or ignorant.....The idiots at the Goodwill bins I go to all crowd around the new rows of bins when they are coming out.....And I sit back like the bull on the hill, i'm gonna f*ck em all......They all blitz through the bins & then walk away....

Every time I go to the bins if I spend 2 hours there I leave w/ close to or over 500 bucks spent at 1.49 or 1.69 a pound (over 25 pounds total discount). I have 2 bins within an hour of my house and they are in different territories so they have different pricing structures and whatnot.....but the good thing is I am a property field adjuster so I am usually driving up and down the Florida coastline anyway so driving long distances to the bins is a non-expense for me, I am close by there all the time and being paid to drive there since I get 58.5 cents per mile reimbursed on my fee bills......

Hey Kevin, I've actually been waiting for this type of question. My next sourcing video I'll go into my thought process behind it. For now I'll give you a bit of insight on my business. I average a little more than $6 profit per sale. Some of those Ralph Lauren pieces bring in -$ if their is a flaw I miss all the way up to about $10+ if it sell for full asking price. In 2022, I sold $193k on eBay (including taxes) and I did not Net 6 figures. I may make a video explaining this because I see a lot of "6 figure reseller" that are hanging onto that top line number and not the Net. Great question, what is true about Ralph Lauren is it is a brand that a lot of people like and sells decently well on eBay you just have to acquire them at a low price, sell a ton of them, or hunt for their more rare pieces.
They don't. There's three types of sellers: Chaos Theory - buy vintage AND regular bulk sellers. Lots of new people do this but aren't very successful in the vintage realm in the beginning years. Bulk Sellers - buy higher brand labels and tons of them for smaller profit margin Vintage Sellers - much less sales, but more profit. This is usually for those that wanna spend time and effort into going all over and never buy just for a brand but for the years (80s and 90s are huge right now and 2023 will see an uptick in 00s fashion in a huge way). And these sellers have a niche typically - the tshirt guys (like me), women's dresses and high class fashion (not always about the label either), and then the rest like collared shirts (I buy these too as long as they are 90s or older), shoes and accessories like belts and hats (big seller for me).

I don't really see these Ralph Lauren things going for more than 10 to 15 dollars on eBay. After you buy it for five spend the money to go shop for it deal with all the fees on eBay then how are you making any money that's worth it? Buying vintage where you can sell a t-shirt for 50 or $100 makes sense but I don't get how people are making money off of these little polo shirts... 🤔
I usually sell Polo Ralph Lauren for $19-$25 including shipping. When I spend $5 I usually profit about $7. If you sell 10k items a year it’s $70k a year.
How many different thrift stores do you shop at? I have about 3 thrift stores in my area and I'm considering selling on Ebay myself but I wonder if having just 3 thrift stores nearby would give me enough inventory to eventually make a significant profit.
Hey Brandon great question, I go to 20-24 different stores. Some as far as 3 hours away. If you are trying to go full time a lot depends on your monthly bills. I bought our house 7 years ago so my rent is low and I didn’t need much. But I ended up quitting my 9-5 when I made $100 net profit per day as a part time reseller which in my business model is about $300 per day in sales.

Also, and this is no diss of you, everyone sees things in their own way.......At 1:48 in the video you passed on a vintage MTV t-shirt....Don't know if the print graphics on the back were clean and without cracking but the graphic on the front implies such......I saw you fly by tags which are botique and you focus on brands you know and like (or I am assuming that's why you pass on things you shouldn't)......I can get dozens of Polo's, no pilling, very little (unnoticable) wear and tear, no fading, no staining......quick in a matter of minutes at the bins....all for way less than 1.00 each.....A lot of them 80's and 90's vintage.....
I'm looking at it and I think this was a screen printed tag which I suppose could be newer vintage but I blew past it in the video because it is sped up. But I do not know a whole lot about vintage so I can not say for sure. Just looking at the front and screen printed tag I tend to think it is a newer shirt made to look old. No worries about pointing out things that I miss. I am not a master at this.

They are flooded. The White Abercrombie Polo had a stain I missed but sold in a week for a total of $12.99 including shipping. Paying $5.24 after tax. My total profit was $1.08 cents. However, that is not typical, most of these flooded brands sell for between $19 and $25 including shipping. Which makes a profit of $6.37 and $10.77 respectively. I did sell about $64k in Men's Polo's and Button-Down Shirts. Most of those sales were flooded brands. My average profit per sale is about $6.50 I am glad you pointed this out because many people have a different style to running their business. My methods may not work for everyone but it pays my bills. Thanks for the feedback.
Depends on your definition of good, but this was filmed over a year ago when thrifting was less competitive. If you're talking about the first store in this video I was right there when they opened and that always helps.
Only thing flooding is the money my bank account. 😂 But ya these items take a months to sell. It’s just the ones I bought 6-12 months ago are selling today.

If you're buying vintage, I find yard and garage sales to be the best finds w the best margins. There's success at goodwill bins but you go through hell since there's plenty of others there doing the exact same thing, haha.
I definitely learned some new labels to check into. I'm so deep in vintage that I'm no longer aware of what is popular now.

Where I live most of the people that go to the bins I do are either not resellers (way over 75% of them don't resell, they are just retired old people or people w/ time on their hands and they want stuff only for themselves or close family) or the resellers that are there are stupid or ignorant.....The idiots at the Goodwill bins I go to all crowd around the new rows of bins when they are coming out.....And I sit back like the bull on the hill, i'm gonna f*ck em all......They all blitz through the bins & then walk away....
(Cont)......Then, after the mob of idiots and retired old people leave the paniced desperate clusterf*ck mess I stroll over to the same bins.....and I get Ralph Lauren, Ann Taylor, White House Black Market, Anne Klein vintage, and on and on.......There are SO many resellers that are stupid and don't do their homework when it comes to what is worth what and what will sell fast......Just goes to show that there is SO much stuff that comes through the bins that is great reselling fodder.......
Every time I go to the bins if I spend 2 hours there I leave w/ close to or over 500 bucks spent at 1.49 or 1.69 a pound (over 25 pounds total discount). I have 2 bins within an hour of my house and they are in different territories so they have different pricing structures and whatnot.....but the good thing is I am a property field adjuster so I am usually driving up and down the Florida coastline anyway so driving long distances to the bins is a non-expense for me, I am close by there all the time and being paid to drive there since I get 58.5 cents per mile reimbursed on my fee bills......

Hey Kevin, I've actually been waiting for this type of question.
My next sourcing video I'll go into my thought process behind it. For now I'll give you a bit of insight on my business.
I average a little more than $6 profit per sale.
Some of those Ralph Lauren pieces bring in -$ if their is a flaw I miss all the way up to about $10+ if it sell for full asking price.
In 2022, I sold $193k on eBay (including taxes) and I did not Net 6 figures. I may make a video explaining this because I see a lot of "6 figure reseller" that are hanging onto that top line number and not the Net.
Great question, what is true about Ralph Lauren is it is a brand that a lot of people like and sells decently well on eBay you just have to acquire them at a low price, sell a ton of them, or hunt for their more rare pieces.
They don't. There's three types of sellers:
Chaos Theory - buy vintage AND regular bulk sellers. Lots of new people do this but aren't very successful in the vintage realm in the beginning years.
Bulk Sellers - buy higher brand labels and tons of them for smaller profit margin
Vintage Sellers - much less sales, but more profit. This is usually for those that wanna spend time and effort into going all over and never buy just for a brand but for the years (80s and 90s are huge right now and 2023 will see an uptick in 00s fashion in a huge way). And these sellers have a niche typically - the tshirt guys (like me), women's dresses and high class fashion (not always about the label either), and then the rest like collared shirts (I buy these too as long as they are 90s or older), shoes and accessories like belts and hats (big seller for me).

I don't really see these Ralph Lauren things going for more than 10 to 15 dollars on eBay. After you buy it for five spend the money to go shop for it deal with all the fees on eBay then how are you making any money that's worth it? Buying vintage where you can sell a t-shirt for 50 or $100 makes sense but I don't get how people are making money off of these little polo shirts... 🤔
I usually sell Polo Ralph Lauren for $19-$25 including shipping. When I spend $5 I usually profit about $7.
If you sell 10k items a year it’s $70k a year.

I go to 20-24 different stores. Some as far as 3 hours away.
If you are trying to go full time a lot depends on your monthly bills. I bought our house 7 years ago so my rent is low and I didn’t need much. But I ended up quitting my 9-5 when I made $100 net profit per day as a part time reseller which in my business model is about $300 per day in sales.

Also, and this is no diss of you, everyone sees things in their own way.......At 1:48 in the video you passed on a vintage MTV t-shirt....Don't know if the print graphics on the back were clean and without cracking but the graphic on the front implies such......I saw you fly by tags which are botique and you focus on brands you know and like (or I am assuming that's why you pass on things you shouldn't)......I can get dozens of Polo's, no pilling, very little (unnoticable) wear and tear, no fading, no staining......quick in a matter of minutes at the bins....all for way less than 1.00 each.....A lot of them 80's and 90's vintage.....
I'm looking at it and I think this was a screen printed tag which I suppose could be newer vintage but I blew past it in the video because it is sped up.
But I do not know a whole lot about vintage so I can not say for sure.
Just looking at the front and screen printed tag I tend to think it is a newer shirt made to look old.
No worries about pointing out things that I miss. I am not a master at this.

Most of the brands you purchased were not worth it. Abercrombie, Southerntide, Brooks brothers are flooded brands
They are flooded.
The White Abercrombie Polo had a stain I missed but sold in a week for a total of $12.99 including shipping. Paying $5.24 after tax.
My total profit was $1.08 cents.
However, that is not typical, most of these flooded brands sell for between $19 and $25 including shipping. Which makes a profit of $6.37 and $10.77 respectively.
I did sell about $64k in Men's Polo's and Button-Down Shirts.
Most of those sales were flooded brands.
My average profit per sale is about $6.50
I am glad you pointed this out because many people have a different style to running their business. My methods may not work for everyone but it pays my bills.
