sorry i think the bass knob should be all the way up, you allow more adjustment and headroom with the negative 10db tone so with also 50% extra on the bass control it will be clipping.
THANK YOU.. THANK YOU.. You explained it clearly and easy in detail.. I've been looking for a full detailed video.. most vidz dnt put it like you did... thank you.. Finally..
Great video awesome job I just did the same method showed in this video and I was very surprised my pioneer deck didn’t even clip 40hz 0dB volume all the up everything on radio set flat or at 0 then I set my amp gain to 40hz -10db
@@nolimitroy1983 yes I did some adjustments to eq and the crossovers but I re adjusted my radio because I noticed if I put my crossovers on radio won’t clip at full volume but if I leave crossovers on flat radio clips at 32 out of 40
If you said everything flat on the EQ and and set your amp up that way so if you boost anything on the EQ it's going to get a distorted signal then and people don't ride around with that EQ on flat
When setting gain to 40hz-5db for the subs only should you set the do you set the 1k @ 40hz-0db or match to -5db ? Door speakers are on a factory amp subs are separate amp.
I have a Kenwood dmx7709s, I use the wired android auto, i used the dd1 through a RCA from the head unit from my phone using android auto, it didn't pick up any signal on Android auto, but on Bluetooth mode from the head unit it did, i tuned it to the Bluetooth mode and when using android auto my bass doesn't hit as well as it does in Bluetooth mode, should I tune from Android auto
My radio has a cd player but I play my music off bluetooth. Would you recommend tuning it with the cd test tones or should I tune it by bluetooth test tone? I don't know if it would make a difference. Thank you
Tune it to the cd they provide. its a true 40 htz test tone Bluetooth apple car play and android auto uses power to provide the signal so it's not always a true 40 htz
One of those dd1’s would most likely hurt a lot of peoples feelings because from experience, most of the time when you back your subs down to a clean level you’ll end up wanting more and turning it back up.
Lol this happened to me.. When using one of these, do you know if I could get a more powerful amp to achieve that loudness again but with a clean signal? Trying to figure out how to get the loudness back but safely..
SMD recommend you set the EQ and levels to flat when settings gains. Some people argue that you can still introduce distortion after you set the EQ. It's not a perfect science, so I'd recommend following SMD's instructions, start flat, set gains, and go from there. You can always recheck for distortion after you mess with the EQ.
@@ProvoBeastAudio I was just thinking if you set it up the way that you listen to it would know distortion and then set the amp games that you won't have any distort
I max everything out and then set gains. Let’s say you put it at 0 and go +1 you sending a clip signal. So I just max the level for the speakers and subs and then set the eq with the smiley face. Then set the gain. A lot of ppl say set everything flat and then go onto changing the eq and you gonna clip

I already have 1st amp setup, and later on install a 2nd amp for two amp, do you have to reset 1st amp again with dd-1?

Let’s say you don’t have a bass knob and you have the subwoofer level at 0. Do you leave it there or adjust accordingly with different songs?
When using smd when setting do you set sub level on 0 in head unit before adjusting gain on amp?

What db level would work best for pandora radio? I have a 10 inch sub with 600w rms and no matter what I tune at it doesnt hit as well as it could
Look in your head unit for source level, then find Pandora and set level on +1
Maybe my DD-1+ works differently, I've always plugged the RCA from the radio into the DD-1+ without the leads.
You certainly can if you are only measuring the head unit's distortion level. We will have a video of that coming out shortly as well.
@@ProvoBeastAudio i saw that it saved you time to do the amp at the same time the way you used the probes.

Quick question on the radio setup do you set everything flat on the radio or do you set the equalizer up to your listening preference

what is the best Gain setting
With rockfoord Punch P3D4-12 600 RMS @2ohm
Impossible to say as it will 100% vary based on the type of signal source it is getting.
@@ProvoBeastAudio I am not understand
How do you hook up the switch for a amp it's not a power switch it turns the amp up an down
If you hook up the remote wire correctly, the amplifier will turn on and off properly with the radio without the need of a manual switch.
So do you turn the frequency button back down after your gains are set or what
Yes, you set your low pass filter once you set your gains.
@@ProvoBeastAudio thank you so much

What do you set lpf to and hpf to wheh doing this? 🤔
If setting it for a sub, lpf all the way up. For mids and highs, high pass all the way down. Or if it has a full range feature, just set to full range.
