that America still has the capacity to take a fleet to China Yes, whether it has the capacity to break through Chinese defenses is another thing besides that America has difficulties in recruiting troops as well as increasing its fleet and reforming esides Many parts for military equipment come from China, including rare earths that China has a monopoly on refinement., the response from countries like Russia and Iran could lead to World War 3, but from what I've heard there are crazy people in America who would lead to that if they had that power
That was a really interesting video. New way to view the US - not a country but an Empire. Indeed. England is the country with a Prime Minister. Great Britain with the Monarchy was the Empire. The US doesn't have that split. I'd love to support so many channels, podcasts, online magazines, but not possible. I have chosen 1, and regrettably can do no more.
@@alicehamers7996 No worries about supporting the channel. Watching and liking does a lot to help more people see the content and that is a big help also.

That’s right. US was happy to go over to China when China was poor. To show China who’s the big brother in the world and the cowboy way. China was more “communist“ back then and it was not an issue.
Brian Berletic of the New Atlas has always said China's military is a defensive one, as they are station in around their home turf. Meanwhile, America's military is an aggressive and expansionist one...for the obvious reasons.
The two cultures are very different. The US/West is expansionist. China/Asia much less so. More "Leave us alone, let us work on our own prosperity" while Western countries don't want to "grow their own garden" they want to raid the gardens around them.
So true, the US broke any international when it suites them. Others must follow the International law but we dont need to cos we make those laws for our benefit. @@JonH2040
It's not just Americans who don't understand that their country is actually an empire. Here in Europe most citizens don't understand either that we are currently vassal states of the USA empire. Ignorance of not just their so-called "enemy" China, but also ignorance of the self is what will make this western empire crumble down.
Maybe its because America bailed out both Europe and Asia twice in the last century and then decided to impose some order on the world by keeping the seas open to free trade. America also Marshall planned Europe back to self-sufficiency and fostered the growth of Japan Korea, Singapore and Taiwan. Smug entitled, infighting, socialist ungrateful Europe can fend for itself now, Trump or no Trump. Suggest you arm yourselves up because Vlad has his sights on all the property in Europe that Russia has ever occupied. And you weak-kneed fluidly gendered socialists are on your own in the future.
I feel so smart now that someone speaks my thoughts. This is exactly what's on my mind! Im from the Philippines! 🇵🇭 What's the outlook of the amricans towards china is the same for the majority of the filipinos. Man, they dont know what they're saying and just basis their opinions on what media says to them.
Sadly, Filipinos don’t have any sovereignties as you are totally dependent on the US, now even Japan for your national security - a former invader of your land and till now the Japanese government has not yet recognized what they have done to the people in the East Asian region. It says a lot about Filipinos’ mentality, they don’t care whoever invaded them before, as long as they think that they can get the benefits from them now. Filipinos are generous towards the former invaders and calling them allies, which is also absurd. Chinese have never invaded the Philippines in history for once, and Chinese are also offering opportunities to help your country to grow but you don’t want to. However, Filipinos are so naive and brainwashed to embrace the former invaders, the west, the US and Japan, it’s ridiculous.
Wow, my comment just got erased here, is that “freedom of speech”? In short, the Philippines doesn’t have any sovereignties and you are depending on former invaders of your country. China has never invaded the Philippines in history. However, if the Filipinos insists on helping the US in all sorts of matters, conflicts are inevitable.

For some people who are confused about the Chinese military, one of the key words: Unit 731. This is only part of the reasons, and if you know more about the Chinese history in the last century, you’ll know much better about why Chinese must be more defensive.
China needs to educate its young citizens about 731 so they can stop chasing foreign brands and foreign holidays. If the young ones keep supporting foreign forces then there will be repeat of 731.
There are those that claim China broke its promise not to militarize its islands in the SCS. These people omit to mention the US also broke its promise to phase out arm sales to Taiwan.
I just visited Unit 731 in Harbin couple of weeks back. Sad to know human can be so evil yet I am sure many Americans are not even aware that the USA has pardon those war criminals in exchange of the research data. They are probably doing the same in their medical research labs stationed all over the world now.
Since the colonial era, Western countries have always played the role of political propaganda of fighting against each other. If you are observant, you can notice the pattern. We in Indonesia have learned quite a lot, but sometimes there are certainly parties who fall for Western propaganda to be hostile to China, from the Chinese colonial era in Indonesia has several times become victims of violence or been used as tools .
Thank you Miguel for a great video. Most Americans may not necessarily "hate" China, but they definitely have a negative impression of / attitude towards China given the non-stop bombardment of anti-China propaganda, e.g. genocide in Xinjiang, from the media, politicians, think tanks, etc. It serves to divert the anger of the American people away from the failures of the ruling elites in the US, and the military industrial complex can always use a good boogeyman ! Tensions between the 2 countries will continue, if not grow, in the next 5-10 years, but it's unlikely that there will be a hot war between the US and China. More likely, the US will try to use Taiwan to goad China into a proxy war, hoping that it will destroy or at least delay its economic development. The reason is that the US is already no match for China in a regional war in the Western Pacific, and no US government or it people can accept the consequences of an all out nuclear war with China. The only winner in the latter scenario may be Russia and India (assuming they don't get involved). The real worry is whether China will take the bait of a US proxy war over Taiwan. By all accounts, China is still committed to a long term, non- military path to eventual re-unificatuon with Taiwan. If and when the day comes, it will probably draw comparisons with the re-unification of Germany. The US President may even be given assurances from the Chinese President that China will not expand militarily eastward, like what Gorbachev was promised. But I genuinely believe that the US will not disintegrate like the Soviet Union (unless it tears itself apart in a civil war). The UK is still doing relatively well long after the British Empire is gone. The US is a continent size country, well endowed in natural resources, and has a highly educated population. It will remain a global great power in the foreseeable future, and its people will fare better if their government focus more on improving their welfare and livelihood, rather than trying to police the world.
After the last few years it surprises me anyone believes the American Propagnda complex. If the local news says it will be a sunny day. I always bring my umbrella 😢
It's so sad the U+S is being ruled by a whole bunch of selfish, corrupted, war-mongering and ignorant politicians who are deciding the policies and the future of UMerica.
China have no intention of replacing United States as the dominant position around world from the beginning, all the achievements china made from last two or three decades was due to the tireless efforts each one of Chinese citizens put in their work to make it happened. someone couldn't image how hard Chinese people work each and every day if he/she had never been China. Chinese parents are always willing to offer the best education opportunity for their kids even far beyond their own financial capability, and there is a fact that Chinese are reluctant to admit, but it is true, is that the achievement and progress as a whole country looks seemingly so great because you are from a very low start point. as an average citizen, I do wish more and more Americans have a chance to visit China personally and see what China really are, it maybe the best way for them to destigmatize the negative impression of China.

Great video, Trip. When I say my videos are not about politics, what I really mean is I haven't studied politics so any point I make isn't because of what I know about politics. Of course I know some of the stuff I talk about is directly related to politics but I didn't do research to get my information. For example, I didn't know a single thing that you said in your video! Because I haven't taken the time to do the research like you have and learn the history between the US and China. Most of the stuff I say is just my opinion and from my experience.
Hey Ben, I understand. I often talk about my experiences and opinions also. I think a good video makes people think deeper and obviously your video inspired me to make this video. So, keep making honest and interesting videos about your time in China, because I think that helps balance some of the negative news.
Yes, ben coleman your opinion and your experience. so, what you say has no video beyond what you think based on you. I'd rather study and make up my mind based on experts who have spent their entire careers studying the issues you mention in passing. Or what you have been paid to say.
@@TripBitten Americans like to say they helped to build other countries. No. Countries are built by themself. If Americans can help build other countries, ask them to build African countries. Let's what they can do. They only destroy and think how to make more advanced weapons.
Interesting take on the recent history between these two countries and the ignorance, not just of the US, but the west in general on how life here in China actually is.
Most comments i can hear the criticism is about democracy vs dictator, always about A vs B, ?? VS ?? Good VS bad, in fact the mainstream media always bring to a point to divide the world. It is really too simple and naive thinking about the two. Democracy is a progress only but how about the outcome? Many people expect to vote for people who can give them better outcomes such as live out of poverty, better roads, better health care, cheaper energy, cheaper water fee, cheaper food price and the fact is China seems doing better and the West are not seems doing too good in some outcomes. Many people didn't vote to go to war with the Russia'/Middle east/South East Asia/N. Koreas/unlimited fundings to Ukraine/unlimited support to Israel etc. The politicians who claimed they are elected but many of them always having a dictatorship character, over power to do propagandas as well. What i mean is everything has a good or bad, but not just too simple to determined which is the best and force others to follow the others.
@@MR-pr8tp Yes, and that is the Chinese tradition and culture, which also applies to how Korea, Japan, Vietnam and Singapore actually work. They're effectively single party states masquerading as pseudo-democracies, except Vietnam which is just as Communist as China.

Hey a little story time. Basically, this bully doesn't like it when other students are getting better grades than him, so he goes around, stealing, tearing, smearing, burning other people's homeworks, projects, stationeries, etcetc, altering the test papers, beating up the other students, just so this bully gets a C- while the others who could potentially score a B+ to A+ get an F instead.. But if you're a lapdog of this bully, he leaves you alone, sometimes pretend to be nice to you, but sometimes forces you to do things you don't wanna do, but have to, or elseeeee.......**dramatic echoes** You might ask, then why isn't the teacher doing anything about it, well you see, the teacher is the bully's mother. And the school principle is the bully's father. In fact, his entire family runs the school. Initially there were 2 - 3 students who were standing up against the bully, so he starts targeting them, by lying about them, making false accusations about them, and do all sorts of bad and nasty things to them. The other students knew the bully is NASTY, but are just too scared to confront him. But now, more and more are standing up against the bully, to the point, the bully and the school knows that it's only a matter of time when everyone is sick and tired of the bully and the establishment. What will the bully, the family and the school do the students who will be standing up against them ? I guess we can only wait and see. **Cliffhanger Ending** Hope you like my story.
The USA is not a democracy. Looking at how big money is involved in the Elections, and how power / wealth is highly concentrated in a small group of people, Plutocracy is a more fitting description of the US government.
This episode is rather spot on. Hate may be exaggerated partly because most Americans don't care much about foreign policies, majority truly believe America is exceptional including the so called the elites. If you can't beat them, why not demonize them?
Excellent !! and I might add, thought provoking for those who are sitting on the fence... I have heard more than one viewpoint on this matter, and many draw the similar conclusions - From my perspective, none of this is encouraging. but needs to be said non-the-less. - people need to become politically aware that issues such as Human rights and territorial water disputes are all fabricated or boosted tools to sway western public opinion to give sanction and support to justify a military action . And we don't have to look far back in time to get examples of this.
Interesting video. The thing is, the US really isn't a democracy, it is an oligarchy with a capitalist economy (capitalism is not democratic by nature, btw). Certain classes do have a lot of wealth, but increasingly most workers are being left out (hence the increasing tension in the US). The two party dance between the two established US parties doesn't change much. In fact, most Americans are too propagandized to understand communism, including the Soviets in the USSR, gave people a lot of democratic rights. And democracy can be viewed in very different ways. The Soviets were locally elected councils and gave people rights under the single party system in where you really couldn't fire your neighbor just because he/she made a mistake. You had free health care as a guarantee. You had free education and mobility to retrain as a Soviet citizen. In the planned economy, you had a job at the end of your education or end of a given job, never having to search for work the way Americans and westerners do, with fear of homelessness around the corner. The communists in the USSR and eastern bloc essentially abolished inflation, meaning a business owner couldn't steal your wages back by just up-charging you whatever they wanted. These are all considered freedoms and democracy despite it being one party in charge politically. Its a different way to view democracy and democratic rights. In the Soviet Union you could challenge your boss at work and still have a job, and this is considered a cornerstone of communist and Soviet democracy and rights. But Americans (and westerners in general, but especially the US) brains' kind of "short out" when you try to express this different way of thinking. The US has a two party system. China has a one party system today. That's honestly, if you think about it, not so very different. The differences between Democrats and Republicans are minimal. Democrats might give Americans a larger stipend to purchase a private health plan, the Republicans might give slightly less, but the end result is mostly the same. It doesn't really matter, and I see people argue to the death over these two capitalist parties. LOL As an American expat myself, I find it humorous, although I only made it to Canada and not China like you. But even from Canada I can now look from the outside and view the US differently from how I grew up with. Americans don't understand the level of propaganda in the capitalist system is more sophisticated and more complete than anything the eastern blocs ever did. This is why Americans can be so misinformed on these topics. P.S. China is not my strong suit, I don't know how its economic system fully functions, but isn't it fair to say its a mixed economy with a socialist economy still functioning at the core? For example, China is a leading EV manufacturer. Most electric car producers in China received massive state funding and financing to start up and operate. All the core industries that are key, like steel for example, are publicly owned enterprises still to this day in 2024. So, China actually is still fairly socialist. But yes it joined the WTO and has capitalist enterprises within. But, this is something that may blow Americans' minds, Chinese exports with regards to GDP to the US is only about 5-6%. China does not rely on the US for its wealth, it has built its own power. It is not a powerful nation because it sells things to the US. Americans think American purchasing is what keeps China afloat, and this is FACTUALLY UNTRUE! LOL If you look up any reliable source on economics, the entire Chinese GDP exports to the US today is well under 10% in any given year. While that's a strong relationship, the Chinese economy is not dependent nor is it reliant on the US. In contrast, the US is more reliant on Chinese imports in order to afford a standard of living that could be found acceptable. This is something not well understood by Americans, I find. Basically the Chinese don't need the Americans as much as Americans need the Chinese to afford a better standard of living.
Your video has enhanced my understanding why Americans hate China. While I still believe there are other factors come into play. I have heard your view from Chinese media but it's the first time I hear about it from an English-speaking channel. I am in agreement with you. The U.S. does not need to use this tactic. They should continue to improve themselves to maintain its number1 position in the world.
That's the problem, you see. That ship has sailed. The US is no longer in a position to compete. Its infrastructure is in shambles, it doesn't produce enough engineers and technical talent without Chinese immigrants, it still can't develop hypersonics, it is behind on green energy tech, 1/3 of the Navy is not combat ready, its shipbuilding capacity is less than 5% of China and its planes have reliability issues thanks to the hollowing out of its manufacturing capacity by the capitalist elites. In every area of competition, you read that the US is either struggling to maintain its lead or is already behind. But that's not China's fault. It is the fault of the US plutocracy that has failed to invest in its own country and people. They're busy fighting wars or arming countries in other parts of the world to destabilize the region.
America used to talk about fair play. Now they say America First. The U.S. Navy led the Chinese Navy to return islands occupied by Japan to China, and recognized the South China Sea and Taiwan as belonging to China. Now they deny everything. The United States, which once had a colony in Shanghai, also took Nudi from the Canton area to build the American railroad. China's famous ancient palace, the Old Summer Palace, was destroyed by the United States. I don't see how the US has the right to hate China. Given China's potential and strength, it should be lucky that it didn't retaliate against the US. China did not fear the United States during the Korean War and will not fear the United States in the future. The eagle tried to annoy the dragon, which I thought was foolish.
I’m not Chinese but Asian American, and I am proud of China and US. No country is perfect. America and the West should respect and value other nations even if they don’t share American values.
But how else are the American leaders going to get elected if they cannot find someone for their people to be both fearful of and hate at the same time?

Excellent. You never went deep into this topic before. A key point you made is Americans don’t understand America being an empire which means it is the bad guy. First they don’t or they can’t understand the magnitude of mind control by the government and the corporations. Like Bernie Sanders wrote in his book It’s OK To Be Angry About Capitalism, 8 companies control 90% of what Americans watch, read, and hear. Obviously the same group own much of publishers of children books and textbooks, people grow up watching to the same cartoons and listening to the same songs, and attend schools funded and chaired by designated people. Can they fathom their beloved country with George Washington, Lincoln, Snow White and Indiana Jones to be the bad guy? That may sound as unreal as god doesn’t exist. However, how can a country be a bad guy? Again per Sanders, “0.1% own 90% of the wealth, 60+% live paycheck to paycheck, no limit campaign financing, America is the best democracy money can buy.” -a description many Americans would agree. Therefore the country is not the bad guy but some people are. Who are they? Who are the emperors? Well that question is the holy grail because they are almost always hidden under top secret. For instance, who own how many shares of the 20 trillion BlackRock, Vanguard and State Street funds which are notoriously monies of owners of the corporations and investments of military industrial complex. Or, who owned the patents to the nukes introduced to the taxpayers in 1945? How many billions on nukes were made thru all these years, by who? Many people are confused that the military industrial complex is just military and weapon manufacturers but it’s not. At the start of WW2 the US had only 150,000 soldiers in the army and no advanced weapons. There were the bankers and oilmen along with their industrial friends before there were big military. Then again even 0.1% is 335,000 people. Of course most are good guys but there only require a handful of Godfathers to control the complex. Some scholars say Exxon Mobile owns the State Department and The White House is run by Goldman Sachs. General and advisors take positions at weapon manufacturers before and after. And they run global networks with “allies”. Ironically, while most Americans don’t understand America, those who do are also Americans. Thousands of so called leftist books have been written thru the years like Chomsky, Charlmer Johnson, john Perkins, Stephen Kinzer, Nomi Prins… They are hard enough for Americans and even fewer outside would read and understand. They can only cause some hiccups to the empire and allowed, I supposed. Otherwise they can become Assange and Snowden too.
Excellent overall analysis. I especially like your point towards the end - in the US, the govt is controlled by business. In China, the govt is controlled by the Party. Business in the US can't stand that. I disagree a bit, though, about your comments re: Cuba and Venezuela. Both of those countries, especially Cuba, have been subject to punishing US sanctions and a lot of political vitriol for decades.
Many Americans knows what's going on, few willing to spreak up, people simply are afraid being labeled as a traitor if they do. It's part of their papaganda tactics.
@@linus631 yes, because countries like China are so supportive of citizens who go on social media and criticize their government. LOL, you guys take the cake! Not only the US empire itself. But, I think they are vastly two different cultures and societies. Throughout the thousand years of history, Chinese is very much a feudal society and the culture from it. The current communist system is really what it came from from the continued past. Xi JinPing is a perfect example of a feudalism character. The American or the European is very much a liberal society and culture where foundementally different ideology clashes with the Chinese. Chinese doesn’t know how to fit in the Democratic ideology. They dont know how to exercise and capitalize the democratic value for their benefits and 'own' the value as we witnesed in New York City here and across the US. Instead, they are staying on the sideline and being told to go back to China. Even those born in the US for generations yet still in the Chinese feudal value and families. Those from mainland Chinese in the US are even vastly different from those Oversea Chinese, where they are actively participating in the Democratic value such as in Southeast Asia, who are culturally much forward-looking and confident.
In the 80s when US and China were in a "good" relationship, the first lady Nancy Reagan led a massive panda salvage campaign. They raised millions of dollars in US and donated it to China to save pandas. They said the pandas were dying because the bamboo were dying. The truth is that there was never a panda or bamboo crisis at all. Stark contrast to the balloon crisis happened last year.
Bamboo flowers take about 10 years to renew, which is cyclical. In the 1980s, about 200 wild giant pandas died because of lack of food because of bamboo flowering in Sichuan.
Thanks for your excellent analysis! Anything that threatens US hegemony is 'hated' and squashed, by any means necessary! What a sad state of affairs and US foreign policy!
"The Chinese are thoroughly good workers. That is why the laborers here hate them." --Rev. George Pentecost, New York Times, 1911. Pentecost knew it wasn't about "cheap" labor. Americans have always had a problem with the Chinese, whether here or abroad, because they have a stronger work ethic and are more productive, on average. That is what led to the Chinese Exclusion Act. Even now, Americans think they are being outcompeted by "cheap" labor in China when, in fact, wages in India and Vietnam are a fraction of China's average wages. It's about good, often better, labor. Which benefits every American watching this UA-cam video: You are using a laptop or phone likely made in China, and most definitely with Chinese components.
why do you think they shipped over a load of Chinese to built their railroad, despite viewing the Chinese as lower class. They worked cheap and put in more sweat per dollar than American locals.
Not just more sweat per dollar; more sweat, period. The Central Pacific Railroad tried time and again to hire white laborers, but few would sign on for such "backbreaking, hazardous work," according to the Chinese Railroad Workers Project at Stanford University. "Central Pacific Railroad director Charles Crocker recommended hiring Chinese workers after a job ad resulted in only a few hundred responses from white laborers...White workers, whom the company wanted, did not sign on in numbers anything close to what was needed." The work was too hard. It involved drilling through solid rock in the Sierras and Rockies. Hundreds died in explosions, landslides, blizzards, and from disease. Nonetheless, the Chinese set records for completing track segments right up to the end. Mark Twain himself praised the Chinese: "A disorderly Chinaman is rare, and a lazy one does not exist. Where white men often complain of want of work, a Chinaman has no such complaint: he always manages to find something to do."@@jjsamuelgunn1136

The pianist is obviously a racist and Ben see no wrong with that. So I have to unsubscribe him.
Ben is probably just scared. Ben lives in England, just like the pianist. The pianist has millions of subs that can be weaponized to attack swarm Bens channel, like with mass downvote or mass report. And racists can in theory be very violent also in real life. So hes probably just scared to offend the pianist. Thats the power of ppl with millions of subs.
This pianist knows that they are Chinese and they are in public, so this pianist is making things worse, even though this woman probably doesn't know that the pianist is live streaming and wants them not to be recorded by the pianist's camera (removing the Chinese reporter part). This pianist knows that the UK people will support him and bring up the CCP issue which this reporter has nothing to do with. You know this pianist also needs viewers, just look at his channel now it has lots of views and he is bringing up the CCP issue again to increase his and his channel's reputation
Calling them CCP stooges just because they are Chinese is no different from calling all Arabs religious extremists. Utter racism. You see the double standards the brit has. It's OK to act aggressively against a chinese lady with a chinese flag. Imagine if an American woman in Shanghai waving the US flag has the flag slapped by a Chinese passerby. The Chinese would be accused of misogyny and anti America.
Violence has to stop imidiatly. If we want to save the planet from disaster, we should make friends and treat each other like we want to be treated ourselves.
Unfortunately, it is easier to hate than to love, to have violence because it is more exciting than love making (especially for those who have never experienced true love). For 2,000 years, Jesus has been teaching peace and love but where has that got us in this world today? Conflicts, wars and war games galore.
Strictly speaking, the United States not only contained the Soviet Union, but also contained the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, and the European Union.
Brilliant analysis. America as an empire always tries to beat down No. 2 power, particularly when the no2 power represents a different race and a different governance model. The world particularly the global south now sees a real alternative to the Western liberal model being more effective in developing the economy and solving some real social problems.

A good government must have integrity ( no lies ), good governance , prudence ( no excess) and strategic pragmatism in policy execution. US do not have sufficient politicians that have qualities. That's why US is in bad shape economically.
Exactly. Unfortunately, we live a nation where mega corporations/oligarchs call the shots. They control news media outlets and they buy out our politicians and rewrite the laws to benefit themselves and wealthy shareholders.

@@ZweiZwolf Okay, but that doesn't have anything to do with what I said. A country doesn't stop being a "country" simply because it acts like an empire. A country would simply be a "body politic" which occupies a "autonomous territorial unit ". The modern US is a "country", the British Empire was a "country", the Japanese Empire was a "country", etc. It doesn't stop being a country simply because of the way it acts towards other countries.
The vast majority of powerfully capitalized businesses in the US are related to the MIC, except for fossil energy and aviation corporations. Hence, the incentive for these businesses to co-opt the media to promote military conflict all over the world is great. Hence, US is incessantly involved in wars all over the World, except in North America because of its geography of only having 2 neighbours that have shared borders with. But Canada is too sparsely populated and whilst Mexico is too militarily weak to pose as a potential rival in the foreseeable future.
Don't forget the American Medical Mafia. They have tight control of their captive customers and government. Healthcare industry is a wing of the chemical cartel.
Btw, even though the Chinese economic model can seem very capitalistic, but it is actually quite different from the US/Western Capitalism. China terms it as a ''Socialist Market Economy''. Capital, capitalists and their activities are regulated to make sure they serve the interest of the majority population, such as providing employments and economic developments. Most importantly, helping to work towards China's 5, 10 year developmental goals.
A Workers State can use market economics as a tool. Soviet Union's New Economic Policy is a perfect example. The important question is which class rules.
I think, the USA population would have benefited greatly if their capitalists were made to serve the interest of the majority and not just their own greed.
In a 1986 episode of “60 Minutes,” the first major interview Deng granted to a Western broadcaster, Wallace asked: “To get rich is glorious. That declaration by Chinese leaders to their people surprises many in the capitalist world. What does that have to do with communism?” Deng’s reply: “To get rich is no sin. However, what we mean by getting rich is different from what you mean. Wealth in a socialist society belongs to the people.” Although Deng didn’t actually say “to get rich is glorious,” Wallace believes that the Chinese leader acknowledged ownership of the words by not challenging the question. “He certainly never said, ‘No, no, I never said that,’ ” Wallace says. In the interview, Deng emphasized that wealth in a socialist society meant “prosperity for the entire people” and must not lead to a situation in which “the rich get richer while the poor get poorer.”
Deng Xiaoping on ''Socialist Market Economy''. ''To uphold socialism we must eliminate poverty. Poverty is not socialism.'' -- Excerpt from a talk with the Japanese delegation on June 30, 1984
@@Faye_Liu I did not watch that 1986 Wallace - Deng interview. This was new to me hearing Deng point. Let's be real our country is a sort loser from Vietnam war to anything that we didn't win. Instead of compete in global market head on we goes to Africa and South America and tell them we help only if we can put military base . While china negotiate a win-win situation. Now chinese manufacturers is in South America and Mexico and they help with built the infrastructure. We didn't do any of that except crying about. These politicians didn't do their job of built our infrastructure but spent billions to isreal for the last 75yrs. What did we get from Isreal. They don't even produce anything. So when biden or trump want make America great again then fix our infrastructure. Our country is 246 yrs old and it look like 3rd world while china is over 1000 yrs and it look like 25th century. This just show what government care more about their citizens and its not ours. Look at Arlington and see how many war we started senseless sacrifice for nothing.
Very interesting video! My initial thought is I wonder how much propaganda the Chinese government feeds their citizens- by the Chinese government.-the American in me! I agree that Americans believe their own media and yes the USA is controlled by corporations and bribe our politicians. I feel most Americans are very ignorant and most do not value education, therefore, not open minded, unaware that our country is not who we say we are. I have lived-in Europe and well aware of the US belief that they are the best country in the world. And we are not. You are also correct in that our current situation, politically is the initial phase of our failing as a democracy. Our two party system is our demise. As a senior, I will not outlive these changes that I feel are forthcoming and will be a totally different government. Americans are brainwashed that no other government is better, not understanding it just works differently but ALL have their pros and cons. Love your UA-cam. Good discussion.
No empire last forever - the USA will be the same as what history have shown. What happened to the Roman, Mongol, British or N@zi empires for example ? None prevailed when they overextended themselves. China isn't like any of the empires above - they just keep to their own boundaries within the region for longer than any expansionist imperial or colonial pirates. 😊✌️
I am rather surprised with your candidness in this topic. Kudos to you for speaking the truth. Good Americans like yourself and many others should keep your ill-informed countrymen know the truth.
Very insightful! You are a rare and astute American, more perceptive and professional than the majority of China experts in the United States. I look forward to seeing more of your content.
Totally agree with this video. I have never been to China but after watching so many Chinese shows, I recognize that China is more capitalist yet it seems to care more about its people. The US has always valued things over people every where they exist. The media instills so much fear of anything considered un American without truly educating the people, that fear is usually the winner. There is a bright spot in all of this though, more young people are traveling the world and using UA-cam to share their experiences, so more people are being exposed to other points of views than just the media. Also,America will be too busy for the next10 years trying to regain and maintain order in its own borders that it really won’t be able to attack anyone else.
The Chinese Empire lasts for thousands of years. Ruler/ governing body changes. But the empire is still exist today and is reclaiming it’s #1 position.
Well done video! Indeed, a lot of US actions in the past are not actually democratic behavior, and it is somewhat similar to various past times in Europe. As for "nor getting ads", you may now be on the target list too.
Hi Miguel, What's your occupation or background? This is really an outstanding video about the US Empire, and I totally agree with you that the next 5-10 years will be very volatile and dangerous for our planet. According to the RAND Corporation, if the US wants to win a conflict with China, it has a narrow window of opportunity to achieve this (2015 to 2025). Time is fast running out and I believe if the US sticks to a conventional war, it's already too late! China has the advantage of fighting in its home turf whereas the US will have to send its aircraft carriers and other military assets from thousands of miles away where they can be intercepted and destroyed by hypersonic and anti-ship ballistic missiles. The only way the US can win now is if they go nuclear as they have far more nuclear weapons than China. America may be able to use nuclear weapons to annihilate China but they themselves will be devastated at the same time. So really, no one wins!
I think wars need to be defined more by objectives versus "win or lose." If the objective is to disrupt China's economy and manufacturing by any means necessary, than the US doesn't have to have a land invasion. Cyberwarfare, blockades, and missile attacks can achieve that objective more cost affectively than troops. With the US warships and bases all around China, I still feel the US has the upper hand for now. A strong defense can't stop all attacks on manufacturing and shipbuilding locations, not to mention blockades of oil or other resources that China needs to run their country currently and in war times. If you can blockade and attack for a few months, China would mostly be destroyed, in my opinion, but I could be very wrong on that front. I also think like you said, the window is closing for that to be effective, that is why I was say 5-10 years max for that strategy to still be possible, with each year the US waits, it becomes more costly and less effective. China has been thinking about this for years and been coming up with ways to avoid this issue by trying to avoid the Malacca Strait. They have built pipelines and other infrastructure to help with this problem, but it is still a major issue.
@@TripBitten I believe if US try to block China's commercial ships, it not only violates the UN mandate but equivalent to declaration of war with PRC. PRC has many means to hit US around the world including hitting US carrier groups with DF-17, DF-27, hitting Guam with DF-26. And if escalate, hitting US Mainland (think of Contenental Divide - Supervolcano) with DF-41A and JL-3 from Type 096. Yeah, PRC is not afraid of going MAD if US decides to. PRC has already prepared it even back in 1960's, 70's when Soviet was trying to threaten Mainland China with nuclear weapons. China built hundreds miles of deep underground tunnels and even cities under several huge mountain ridges - called "Underground Great Wall". I am pretty sure they have been revamped and greatly extended in the last 10 years given China tremendous industrial and construction powers these days.
@bill-ty1cd Very true. I think even though Mr. Bitten has been living in China for over 10-12 years, he still doesn't have a full knowledge about China's capability and resolve and still think more from a typical American point of view. There is a reason that after 2,000 years, Chinese especially Han people still the master of this land called China not Xiongnu/Huns (1A.D.), not Mongols (12A.D.) and not Manchu (19A.D.). Most Americans never thought about that their own Mainland could be attacked and destroyed. Remember China is a near-peer to US not another 3rd world country. Not to mention there is also Russia. So does American want to go MAD?
I personally believe that the United States has not declined and remains a vibrant country, especially when compared to other developed nations. However, China's rapid development is indeed remarkable, and it may be attributed to the support of many U.S. allies, even those seemingly opposing China but providing assistance in reality. From a different perspective, if you were one of these smaller countries, how would you maximize your interests? Creating options is crucial; having only the U.S. as a choice leaves you monopolized and unable to negotiate. Once there's another power that can rival the U.S., these smaller nations can maximize their own interests. On the military front, China holds a time advantage, causing the U.S. to feel anxious. The military gap between China and the U.S. is rapidly narrowing. As time passes, the U.S. will need to invest more resources around China to contain it. However, this could lead to a decline in U.S. influence in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, explaining recent conflicts. If the U.S. loses control in these regions, the impact on the U.S. dollar could be severe. Once the dollar's advantage is lost, the U.S. may struggle to maintain its superior position globally, potentially resulting in the collapse of its strategies in the Asia-Pacific region and even the entire U.S. The idea of an aging empire confined to North America with a small economic scale may not be acceptable, and the U.S. might face critical decisions in such a scenario. China aims for each region to have a leading country, sharing benefits equally, whereas the United States seeks to monopolize everything. The U.S. approach is evidently unsustainable; changing this zero-sum game to a mutually beneficial development is the key to sustainability.
10:59 I think calling Socialist Market Economy "very capitalist" may be misleading to some people. though it's true that since the 70s china has moved away from a planned economy, there are many distinctions between SME and a western style capitalist economy, from the role of the government in the economy to the legal framework of ownership. great analysis of the US empire and love your contents.
The Chinese Socialist Government regulates the market so that big monopolies can't just completely take over & rule over everything like they do in the USA. Massive Cooperations are able to Lobby the Government meaning they are the ones who actually set the policies in the USA that serves their interests. This isn't the case in China, so the USA is a far more corrupt country that is always manipulating the system so they wealthy gets wealthier.
If you take a look at many European countries, you will see something similar to China in the way their governments butt in into pure "western stile capitalist economy".
It was very interesting. Could you do some similar analysis about the USA's attitude to India, Russia, and BRICS on the whole? (As of recently I noticed that previously mostly positive coverage of India in western media shifted to somewhat critical. Could it be because India is growing economically and slowly but steadily becoming a new threat to the USA empire?)
@@beproudasian8279 I don't say it is on the level of the USA or China now. Yet it is the 5th or 6th world economy and has surpassed its former colonizer Britain. Actually, you say "behave or else' only to those who present a potential danger to you. Otherwise you wouldn't care.
Hi, excellent video. It is worth going back to the early to mid 1880s to gain a deeper understanding of attitudes in China and the current situation overall. So what you are saying is that the US has no reverse gear... sadly.
American citizens can choose the Democratic Party or the Republican Party to govern, but American capitalists can control these two parties, so American capitalists can control the US government. The Communist Party of China is not controlled by capitalists, but in turn can control capitalists, such as Ma Yun. This is why the Chinese government can invest more in national infrastructure construction, and stay ahead in areas such as poverty alleviation that are not profitable, and road and rural mobile phone signal coverage. What capitalists want is to keep power in a (capitalist's) cage, which can be done in the United States, but not in China. China keeps capital in a (power's) cage.
I couldn’t agree with you more on all the facts presented in your video. Keep up the good work and hope more and more Americans will get to know the truth (and hopefully learn more about the two countries)! I look forward to joining as a member soon!
Thank you, Miguel, for your excellent contribution. I am Sam from Hong Kong and I received my education in the United Kingdom. I am now 54 years old and still reside and work in Hong Kong. Let me phrase it differently: the United States is a remarkable nation that has made significant contributions to the world. China, as the world's second-largest economy, is rapidly emerging, and it is understandable that it aspires to be recognized as a major player. As technology continues to advance, our world seems to become smaller, and ultimately, we all inhabit a global community. As "humans," I believe it is crucial for us to think beyond national borders, considering the vastness of the universe that lies before us, waiting to be explored and conquered. Think Big, Do Great !
The U.S. developed an ulterior sense of inferiority complex, self-doubt and self-defeat when it no longer has the ability as well the capability to compete head-on with China on various fields. First came the blame of China stealing American jobs, then American intellectual properties that led to the trade war. When all else failed, "national security" became the scapegoat to enforce an embargo on all things Chinese. And in a world of irrational nationalism with the promotion of the U.S. government through propaganda and the mainstream media, Americans subconsciously or otherwise began to point the finger at the Chinese nation. Fear is the only reason the U.S. wanted to contain China. When tariffs failed, technology sanctions followed. When both tariffs and sanctions failed, de-coupling became the buzzword. And when de-coupling was found to hurt the U.S. economy more than China's, it was changed to de-risking which in effect means a "slow de-coupling" until a more appropriate time. And now, fear has invaded European minds and the Europeans want to adopt the American low-life tactics. Twenty years ago, American muscle cars and reliable Japanese cars plus reputable German, French and Swedish cars and even newbies from South Korea were selling like hot cakes in the Chinese market and each and every maker made a fortune in China. Nowadays, however, the U.S. has no hope of selling anything to China -- not only industrial products but also agricultural produce which are easily replaced by many other countries around the globe. Sooner or later, the world will be divided into 2 camps: one that embraces worldwide integration and the other a closed economy that fears competition.

The world needs to know about unit 731 and also the Opium Wars.
There are those that claim China broke its promise not to militarize its islands in the SCS. These people omit to mention the US also broke its promise to phase out arm sales to Taiwan.
Japan Unit 731 did the same thing in Singapore during WW2, just at a smaller scale.

But if you're a lapdog of this bully, he leaves you alone, sometimes pretend to be nice to you, but sometimes forces you to do things you don't wanna do, but have to, or elseeeee.......**dramatic echoes**
You might ask, then why isn't the teacher doing anything about it, well you see, the teacher is the bully's mother.
**Cliffhanger Ending**
Hope you like my story.
The bully is China.
You missed another method, is to use the school media to define what A is.
This analogy should be set in pre-school to more accurately depict how infantile its assumptions are.
Completely right, compared to the world most countries hate the USA but seams that they want stay far,far of USA.

The USA is not a democracy. Looking at how big money is involved in the Elections, and how power / wealth is highly concentrated in a small group of people, Plutocracy is a more fitting description of the US government.
I call it "fakemocracy".
The USA is not a democracy : Princeton University Study.

Western democracy is fake to fool People.
And you think China is?
The USA has survived the Great depression, civil war, world wars and COVID among other things. We'll survive and thrive on whatever issues we'll face
Well said. Fully agree.
Can't agree more
Your video has enhanced my understanding why Americans hate China.
The eagle tried to annoy the dragon, which I thought was foolish.

feels like they are still living in the colonial era.
The USA is currently experiencing their own implosion but can't and won't fix it.
A great topic. Thanks.

Finally, someone speaks out what many afraid to acknowledge.
Not true, Americans are mad at China because of jealousy.
China wouldn't survive without usa and vica versa. Its all for votes (the anti /destructive stuff in the modern day.. as countries they are as guilty and culpable as each other at killing people on their own land or in other lands that dont and never will belong to them.. i see little difference)
Public opinions are manipulated by a small group of people when they need it. Nothing new, nothing surprising.

"Central Pacific Railroad director Charles Crocker recommended hiring Chinese workers after a job ad resulted in only a few hundred responses from white laborers...White workers, whom the company wanted, did not sign on in numbers anything close to what was needed."
The work was too hard.

Violence has to stop imidiatly. If we want to save the planet from disaster, we should make friends and treat each other like we want to be treated ourselves.
Unfortunately, it is easier to hate than to love, to have violence because it is more exciting than love making (especially for those who have never experienced true love). All Chinese has to united against enemy.
At the end of the day, the main group of people that are gonna be harmed in this China and US rivalry are the overseas Chinese, especially those like me who live in the US. As Chinese Americans, its never easy for us to speak our true minds because of all the anti-China new rhetoric, that's been going around everywhere. A good government must have integrity ( no lies ), good governance , prudence ( no excess) and strategic pragmatism in policy execution. US do not have sufficient politicians that have qualities. That's why US is in bad shape economically.

It's not bad to distinguish ordinary countries from imperial ones. China is also unusual, because China is a civilization-state.
Great insight👍
Fun fact. Mattel, the makers of barbie also make gun parts for the military.
Boeing makes missiles such as minutemen for US army.
Constant USA overthrowing leaders and economic sanctions are the reason why countries in South America are weak to this date.
Why block medical mafia comment?
What does that have to do with communism?”
Deng’s reply: “To get rich is no sin. However, what we mean by getting rich is different from what you mean. Wealth in a socialist society belongs to the people.”
Although Deng didn’t actually say “to get rich is glorious,” Wallace believes that the Chinese leader acknowledged ownership of the words by not challenging the question. “He certainly never said, ‘No, no, I never said that,’ ” Wallace says.
In the interview, Deng emphasized that wealth in a socialist society meant “prosperity for the entire people” and must not lead to a situation in which “the rich get richer while the poor get poorer.”

''To uphold socialism we must eliminate poverty. Poverty is not socialism.''

You have been completely duped when you think China thinks of its people of anything else than cattle to be exploited.
现在的美国就像17世纪的中国,认为自己是世界第一,其他任何国家都比不上自己。结果呢,承受了一百多年的苦难…
The Chinese Empire lasts for thousands of years. Ruler/ governing body changes. But the empire is still exist today and is reclaiming it’s #1 position.
Well done video! Indeed, a lot of US actions in the past are not actually democratic behavior, and it is somewhat similar to various past times in Europe.
As for "nor getting ads", you may now be on the target list too.
I hope the competitions between countries can make human race improve, maybe I'm too simple, sometimes naive.
very good point!😊
Do be aware that those US vassal states did nothing to support China.

@@jinlingliang4385 True, it's quite hopeless for any real change in America.
Your very statement "contain China" shows you to be an imperialist. Only imperialists try to "contain" others and block them from development.
Can’t believe all the social media. You have to go there and experience it .
Well said 👏👏👏👍. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching
Very good analysis based on facts. Keep doing it.
Love this comment. China is not a free enterprise system. It is a combination of free market, capitalism, and command economy.
From what I read about the Chinese economy is that it is modeled after the German economy.
@@amunra5330 It makes a lot of sense.
India a threat to the U$ empire? No, it's the U$ telling India to behave or else. Hate to break it to you but India has a long long long way to go.
As the American empire rapidly declines, India will find itself isolate ultimately because of its fence sitting to reap benefit from both sides.
@@beproudasian8279 India is not ready for prime time.
@@beproudasian8279 I don't say it is on the level of the USA or China now. Yet it is the 5th or 6th world economy and has surpassed its former colonizer Britain. Actually, you say "behave or else' only to those who present a potential danger to you. Otherwise you wouldn't care.
It's typical bullying behavior. The bully surrounds himself with lackeys and has to make sure his lackeys know their place.
The coming power, and the passing power, the way of all empires. Dangerous times.
Wow thanks for the info
very well explaining the truth!
And it’s difficult to convince those who had preconceived ideas about china
