    Modern Standard Arabic Beginner Course
    March 25 - April 4 2019, Nazareth
The MSA (Modern Standard Arabic) Beginner Course consists of 40 intensive classroom hours covering all the basics, including: reading and writing in Arabic script; grammar fundamentals; everyday conversation; and listening comprehension skills. Completing this course will take students from an utter beginner level to an intermediate level.
This is accomplished by focusing on the critical elements and structure of the language instead of spending limited class time simply memorizing vocabulary lists, which can be done at home.

Thank you Maha. I Love this lesson. I'm excited to be learning here. Please help me reading the joined letters so that I can know which letters compose a word. I fail to recognize the letters that have been joined but if you say it once I'll be able to write the word on my own. Thank you so much for this lesson. I'm going to start speaking them right away.

i admit that many great ancient philosophers come from Syria
( Poseidonios, Damascios, Iamblichus), and many venerable theologists and religious thinkers like Ioannis Chrysostomos, Ioannis Damaskinos, Manes, Vardesanes. And ofcourse greek alphabet comes dron phoenician...but i believe that your etymology versions aren't correct, you are only guessing. If you are fond of greek language, i can explain to you the origin of those words..

    Three questions for you Maha:
    1) To go from masculine to feminine in standard arabic, we add a fatha + (ta marboutah) sound. But in Palestinian arabic, it seems you add a kasra instead. For most of these words, the transformation is like: Bardaan→Bardaani, Zahqaan→Zahqaani , etc. But for Mareedh, you say Mareedha (not Mareedhi). Why is this? And how can I predict when to use fatha and when to use kasra? It seems that if an adjective ends with noon, it takes a kasra feminine ending, and if not, it takes a fatha (e.g. my palestinian friend says kabeera and not kabeeri). However, you showed the word Mshawwib, which doesnt end in a noon, and yet you made it Mshawbi (with kasra), not mshawba.
    2) Related, does the feminization of nouuns in Palestinian arabic work the same way? (ie, do we say "i" or "a" before the ta marboutah)?
    3) I know that the word "cold" in standard arabic is "Baarid". But in Palestinian Arabic, this became "Bardaan". Does Palestinian Arabic generally take standard arabic adjectives and end them with noon?
    Thank you, excellent lesson :)

Fahim416 hi fried I’ll try to explain. 99.9 percent of feminine verb and adjectives endings change to I in most Levantine Arabic. There very few exceptions. Don’t worry about them they are extremely few.
Your other question. In English I’m cold and it’s cold is the same. In Arabic it’s different. Bard is noun. Bardan is the verb for being cold.
On the fringes of Levantine Arabic region there is the Bedouin dialects influences where the feminine A endings stays unchanged.
