Thank you so much..I have never done a oil change but maybe one day when I get our own home with garage I will do it instead of taking it to the dealership
Make sure you check both sides of the dipstick and go by the lowest point. Also the crosshatch is a measurement of 1 quart of oil, that way you know how low your oil is when you add more to top it off
I second this was looking to see if anyone else had replied. Hole farther up would be the full mark lowest is the add mark as was said on most vehicles it’s 1 quart between the add and full mark. The manual states 6.0 quarts I think that’s a completely drained motor as most people say 5.5 is good 6 will put you slightly over full. Nice video
Also come on people change the filter every time it’s less than 10$ for most and it’s easy. If it was incredibly hard or expensive then maybe not but it’s easy.
I just use the oil that’s recommended in the vehicle manual. It was reliable while we owned it! We traded it in for a larger vehicle though so we no longer have it
Going off of the video for suggestions… First, the video was really clear on what you were doing and looking at.👍 Maybe add that this wasn’t just the oil. Hashtags or title all the things you did or all fluids..? Also what do you do with the old oil? I’m wondering myself since my mechanic had passed away not long ago. Also say the brand of tools you used and hashtag them all. That sometimes gets companies attention and they might send you products to compare with another or just get your opinion. Be transparent with that too. Just a thought…
hi good video, i have a ford edge, a question this oil filter is better than the recommended oil filter in the manual specs which is the Motorcraft FL-500S oil filter?
To be honest I'm not sure which one is "better" but I've used all different ones in the past - Fram, Mobile 1, Purolator - I usually pick up the one that's in the middle as far as price goes and that's typically Purolator. Sometimes you are just paying extra for the name. I'm sure either the one I have listed or the Motorcraft one will work just fine.
He’s correct. 2013 Ford Edge 3.5L V6 oil type and capacity iS5w-20 and 5.5 quarts. But with a new oil filter it is 6 quarts. After running a bit that oil level is going to drop
I put in 5.5 quarts as required - double check your owners manual though, and use the amount that it recommends. In the video I only show pouring in a small amount of oil because I didn’t want to bore the viewer by showing all 5.5 quarts of oil being poured :) Hope that helps, thanks for watching!
No, I put in the recommended amount (5.5qt - 6qt) per the owner's manual, I mentioned the amount in the video. I just didn't film all of that since it would be boring to watch lol.
@Doing Whatever lol, I can't believe anyone actually thought you only put one quart of oil in your engine 🤣. You even stated the correct oil capacity in the video.
It’s 2023 bro I appreciate the help!
Always glad to help!
Excellent video with great clarity and easy to understand
Great video you made the process painless.
Thank you! Glad it was helpful!!

Awesome! Yea, it’s not as difficult as people tend to think it is. Thanks for watching!
Thank you
I recommend filling the new oil filter with new oil prior to installation. There would be less of an air void upon engine startup.
That is a good idea, thank you. I'll give it a shot next time!
no need. Ford workshop manual recommends no pre- fill.
I usually use fresh oil to lubricate the oil filter. Just a preference.
probably a better idea lol

👍🏽 big help. Thanks
Glad to hear that!
How do I know what kind and how much oil I out in it
I would check your owner’s manual.
I have the same exact vehicle and the manual says 6 quarts with the filter changed.
I'll have to double check that - thanks for the heads up!
different model year.

How much did you save doing it yourself? What did it cost for the oil
hi, how much engine oil did you put in the oil tank? 5.0 L? OR 5.7 L? Because your 5w20 container looks like only 946ml.
I put in 5.5 quarts as required - double check your owners manual though, and use the amount that it recommends. In the video I only show pouring in a small amount of oil because I didn’t want to bore the viewer by showing all 5.5 quarts of oil being poured :) Hope that helps, thanks for watching!
Isn’t there an engine shield underneath that needs to come off first?
No, not on my Edge at least 😁
Hi, whats the name of the ramps did you use?
These are the ramps I have and use - amzn.to/3kP6Oig
Thanks for watching!
Ah your in wi. I’m in Brookfield.
gotta love Wisco!
1quart to fill ford edge? Hmm..
