Remember, that we all are brothers
All people, beasts, trees and stone and wind
We all descend from the one great being
That was always there
Before people lived and named it
Before the first seed sprouted
Whoever is in charge of putting ads in the middle of this kick-ass song must be sacrificed

Just get adblock and you should be set. But uh, yes, otherwise agreed.
that bands are not so rich like swift, gaga or bieber... and if they can earn money with that, i find it ok...
Seelenwinter How about, hm, placing an add on the start or the end, or both? Not in the middle of a drop.
as i was young, we had to buy a lp or cd to listen that music... nowadays all ever want all fo nothing, but i bet all i have, that you want to earn money for your work... so why all other should do everything for you for free...?
When a Band is so metal they dont even need Guitar and Bass
Agree💯
So you can mix Trance and metal...
It’s primeval
was more thinking "Hardstyle Unplugged"... but also okay :)
This is not metal bud, this is before metal was a thing, this is stone, heavy stone
This goes into my "cool music my friends will never understand" collection!!

This reminds me of a story I heard. Back in the 90's during the genocides in Africa the west sent psychologist to help the people deal with trauma. They were sent home not to long after. The Africans said they the doctors made things worst, they put them in a room with them and make them talk about the things that happened, what only made them depressed. The way witch doctors did it was to say they were possessed so they can imagine the pain as something tangible, then they put them in a large group so they didn't feel alone, start beating drums and get them moving forcing adrenal and dopamine to increases, them they make them believe that the demon inside of them was forced out after hrs of this its a placebo affect.

Can I just mention how incredible the audio mixing is? This couldn't have been easy with how much stuff there's going on, and it sounds perfect.
You can tell they didnt compress any of their songs too which I highly respect. That is why it sound so good but you have to turn up your volume a little.
I actually find the live recordings by far better than the studio recordings. I was rather disappointed with the latter.

I read somewhere that the melodic chorus parts stem from an ancient Germanic text which states that no matter how distant we are, in terms of ideology, geography, or physical appearance, we all have the same blood and life force running through us.
I haven’t listened to Heilung in a while, and remembering that tidbit of information while listening to those parts legit made me tear up. Maybe listening to this song after so many months of not doing so is healing me from all of the misfortunes and issues that happened to me beforehand. I will never not love this song.
The " lyrics " of that song are actually part of the Edda, it is a healing chant, telling first about how Wudan healed the wound of a horse, and then chanting on repeat the following invocation :
Like bone-sprain,
so blood-sprain,
so joint-sprain:
Bone to bone,
blood to blood,
joints to joints,
so may they be glued!
Nope, not really. It's the words of an ancient healing incantation, basically calling for the wounded parts to come back together and be healed.
@@nicolaspicard1501 It has nothing to do with the Edda(A collection of Old Norse texts). Its from the Old High German Merserberg charms, which specify incantations as well as stories of their use(Wodan healing his horse for instance)

Four against three time is a very calming polyrhythm. This piece uses it as the basis, which is part of the reason why it’s so hypnotic.
Isn't that two against three though?
@@booty4031 Correct, this is based on a 2:3 polyrhythm

They have a lot of of 2:3 but this is technically 4:3. The "gam, gam, gam," is based in the 3 meter. Count that and the polymeter alongside that has 4 beats per it's 3. 2:3 would be a halftime feel of this beat. Felt like backing up the original commenter and to help clarify. Heilung rules.

Can't wait to see these folks in September 2022. I keep rewatching these live recordings and listening to the albums just dreaming of being there in person. And this song in particular just lights my soul up.
Omg!! Where?! I must go too
@@aliseberry303 They're doing an American tour, I'm going to see them in Detroit. I think they have it all on their website.
You're so close now!!
I just discovered this band and can't stop listen. Its like a mantra. Beatiful music.
So I’m 54, recently discovered Heilung. It fits with my life and spirit. I’ve always been happy camping out in the woods/fields under canvas (not polyester) cooking over an open fire and staring/ contemplating the beauty and savagery of nature. Wish I had found this earlier.
I envy you, dude. Wish I had more time to go out into the woods.
I'm 54 in a week and just found these guys/girl recently..they are awesome
66 and still camp, alone often. And going to see Heilung in Denver.

ja Du hast recht, ich bin älter als Du, ich lebe diese Musik mein ganzes Leben lang, aber das gehört zu den Besten das ich jemals hörte und auch sah. ich leibe es und habe es es dutzende mal gehört.. alle Songs... es ist mei Sound. pur/// yes you are right, I am older than you, I have lived this music all my life, but it is one of the best that I have ever heard and seen. I love it and have heard it dozen of times .. all the songs ... it's my sound. pure :-)
6:46 that dude is straight vibing and living his best life
Animal from the Muppets found his grown up job 😉
This is absolutely my favorite heilung song. It just makes me want to love in a forest with mountains where it is no less colder than 5 degrees. Pure spiritual madness.
"Can you NOT wear the horns in bed? You poked me in the eye last time!" (Actually, I'm truly mesmerized. My new favorite group!)
Right before seeing this comment I had just come to the decision that I'd rather her leave it on. That head dress does something for me
the deer lady is my favorite, she is always smirking like . "ya , we know you like this shit"
😂😂😂
I love how composed she is. Very controlled, almost like she is outside of it all but still a part of it. Chaos all around her. She's like the eye of the storm.
That thing she wears on her head must weigh a ton! Plus she beat that drum thing the WHOLE time! Awesome.
Her name is Maria Franz ;)

UA-cam: Puts ads in between songs
Me: *BLOOD EAGLE*
Me: Queen of Hearts
This is about as far away from the times of the Vikings as you are now. Proto Germanic is the period up until 25 b.c. The Vikings raided almost 1000 years later.
@@urin1337 Yet vikings are germanic tribes right?
Never played the ads for me and I don't have ad block
@@urin1337 True.
This is not Viking. It's much more primal than that. More like Northern Europe Bronze Age. There MAY have been cults like this during the Viking era, but they would have been seen as backwards weirdos even back then. Not that there is anything wrong with that... :)
I am a 3 generation Irish American my ancestors were of Celtic decent and this music really speaks to a place in me that not alot of anything can reach. The hair on my arms, legs and neck stand straight up and a shiver goes right up my spine and I love it keep it up ppl hear you loud and clear even if thay don't speak in the old tongues may piece be with you and yours all your days and if not then play the war drums and your kin will respond 🎶 ✨
They are playing here in ireland next January. If you can afford the trip it could be amazing for you. I'm dying to see them live!
I’m a Finnish American. The Finns were believed to be the hyperboreans, who would end wars using their music. This is what I imagine that music was.
I have known about and danced my heart out to Heilung as long as I can remember. Which is only a few years and I wish I had known this music from childhood. Hail ye heathens!
That's not music. That's a spiritual experience.
You are right
Dan D that's what music always is
JOURNEY in to BLISS !
I think I just found the perfect song to meditate to.
yes and its in my mind when i'm at a pond (the place closest to pagan experience in christian countryside)
I always looks at the Heilung video length and be like, „I don’t have time for that video length.“ Then I watch the whole and be like, „that wasn’t lang enough.“
Für den Allvater
It's not always about video length
*the girth has a lot to do with the experience also*
Für den ALLVATER!
Its hipnotic and gives a spirit conection and inspiration
Für den Allvater!
My Gods....this is unreal.........absolutely beautiful, primal, of the Earth....proof there is magick in the world.
This is like a Viking Rave, definitely need to see these guys live some time
I can’t imagine how this would feel to experience it live. It’s now my mission to learn the answer!
I saw them live in webster hall in New York, best and most spiritual experience I ever had, I felt it deep in my bones, like something inside woke up. It cant really be put into actual words, for each individual has their own experience. It was an amazing performance and I highly recommend you see them live
Theyre playing at redrocks tmw in Colorado. Its going to be amazing listening to them at that venue tmw
@@michaelcontreras5460 it was infact amazing
@@Krupskilla_ except for them taking an hour to start and the audio issue. It was great
You get a natural high! I seen them live in Holland.
Did you notice ? There are only 3 people using theire phone during the concert. That's how you know the concert is good, reall good ! Heil Heilung !
Such a modern insight!
This concert is so good that you never want it to end !! It's primal, beastly limit, it sticks to your heart and body, again and again. It's a mighty heartbeat , It starts from the depths of the earth and the heart and envelops us with its power. It delivers powerful emotions that we must cherish, because after all we are not only animals but also creatures of feeling. And in the end that's maybe what's most important !!!
the harmonization in this song is BEYOND AMAZING!
This might be too late since it circulated a lot, but the 'Hanga Dýra Mingja' part isn't actually 'Hanga Dýra Mingja'. It supposedly was old Icelandic but it makes no sense grammatically and the word Mingja does not exist in Old Icelandic. It's more likely to be 'Hangatýr Hamingja´ and then after chanting that a couple of times they say 'Ramr'. It makes more sense since it is a healing song, Hangatýr is Óðinn who is mentioned in the Merseburg incantations, Hamingja is Luck and Good Fortune in Old Norse, as well as a sort of guardian spirit, kind of. Ramr is strength in Old Norse. So really they are chanting ''Hanging God, Spirit of Fortune (bring) Strength'' Makes sense calling on them for healing, rather than hanging animals, I guess
Goes kind of like this
Hangatýr Hamingja
Hangatýr Hamingja
Hangatýr Hamingja
Hangatýr Hamingja
Hangatýr Hamingja Raaaaaaaaammmmmmmmrrrr!
I don't know Icelandic man.... I'll believe what you tell me.
@@Prateekch95 it's more plausible than the other translation from what I know. Hanga Dýra Mingja made no sense
Best send this as a private message to the band. It's unlikely they are reading the UA-cam comments too carefully.
Its old norse buddy.
@@jacobtaylor8250 Yeah you are probably correct in terms of intention. All documentation we have of those words used were written in Old Icelandic and Old Norse are pretty much the same in terms of grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. The major difference was spelling and slight regional accents.
People seem to miss the point of this. They think because it's energetic its agressive. Primal is more the word for this. Its more of aprayer for healing than anything. Its an interpretation of an incantation that would be said over somebody seriously injured at a time when the best medicine they had was to plead for nature to take its course favorably.
Exactly! The healing chant is powerfull and affirmative like they're commanding the wounds to mend.
So great!
It is invoking!
The words that come to mind for me are "ecstasy" and "vitality." I feel there is some aggression, on the contrary-- but its purpose is apotropaic i.e. the idea being "we're gonna scare the shit out of whatever's ailing you."
Wolfgang Drachenberg I like that ideas since Demons were commonly blamed as the cause for illness so scaring them should cure them of any illness.
Primal is synonym for natural.
The fact this will be at Red Rocks is beyond amazing.
The way this cacophony of seemingly incoherent sounds come together. It awakens something primal. The drums, the repetitive chants, the guttural growls put me into a trance-like state. Then the voices that sound like a choir, bring me back.
I would love to see Heilung live. That has to be an amazing experience. I can't imagine walking away from one of their shows not feeling more alive than when you walked in.
It seriously feels like a weight has been lifted off of me everytime I listen to this song. like they're exercising a demon from me. The way I envision it, I'm naked covered in mud dancing around a centralized bonfire that's encircled by a ring of fire. At the end I jump through the outer Ring of fire symbolizing a form of rebirth and reinvigoration.
That's how it should be, but my experience with Heilung's audiences (only twice, in Italy and France) has been extremely disappointing under that regard.
I totally felt like I walked out a lighter human… can’t explain it. This song… man… that’s all
I played this one on my car's sound system. It thumps.
Also totally unrelated question: anyone here familiar with parallel parking a longboat?
It’s called drifting
Step 1. Crash long boat into pewny cars ,
Step 2. Grab Axe
Step 3. Raid nearby villages and or suburban neighborhood
My Computer is hooked to House Stereo, my House THUMPS. Hope my neighbors like it.
After playing Valheim for 100 hours, I can confirm, this shit hard.
Have rowers reverse roll to brake long boat pull rudder to opposite direction of dock. You just parked like a pro!
Whoever's bright idea it was to interrupt my MEDITATION with ads is gonna get sacrificed to loki when I find them..............

The world welcomes your medicine- Thank you from Kansas City, (America)
This is a healing chant.... you can imagine what the war chant might have sounded like.
You can check that out hearing Krigsgaldr. Its the war chant, a warning.
Hakkersgaldyr is the before battle chant, in which they promise obliteration to their enemies :)
The idea is to scare the illness out of the body by yelling at it.
I would absolutely LOVE to live in a world where this was normal...we'd all be so much more in tune with everything natural
This song us about blood sacrifice animal specifically.
It is a healing as well.
No different. Sometimes war is the cure! Especially for us Teutons.

This is just a video, but holy sticks I still get goosebumps at :28 seeing Maria with the blue strobes at that camera angle, with the droning chants, then the polyrhythmic drums kicking in. Pure primal joy~
It's amazing what stamina they have, hitting that rhythm without error for 12+ minutes. I'd be dead after 5.
And this was at the end of a show that lasted over an hour. They've got an incredible amount of talent.
When you click into it, it’s easy to just go. It’s harder to stop.
It's the ritme that's so good. Hope they come back to castlefest next year
What kind of black sorcery they used? They started chanting at 0650-0700 and 3 minutes later with clock-like precision the chorus started at 1000. I mean, they can't be counting - can they?
even crazier is that this was only there second live performance ever
First time listening: meh
Second time: hm, this is neat
Third time: ok that's cool...
Fourth time: HANGA DÝRA MINGJA HANGA DÝRA MINGJA HANGA DÝRA MINGJA HANGA DÝRA MINGJA HANGA DÝRA MINGJA

This is pure medicine for the soul. I struggle with focal epileptic seizures multiple times a day and it often carries me through them effortlessly as I try to "shake" them off. Obviously I can't enjoy the intensity of the visual aspect, but the sounds are so hypnotic, I feel like rushing out in nature and caressing the ground. Thank you for granting us this masterpiece, it's even more spiritual when you hear it live!
Glad it helps you!
Funny thing is that This song is a healing chant, It seems to really work then my friend
