I saw a video of this song and they had brought up Native Americans on stage with them all decked out in their native dress. Two completely different cultures dancing and celebrating together. I'm a grown man but it brought me to tears watching it lol, super powerful stuff. The amount of respect and honor Heilung shows to the native people wherever they go is incredible. Same. Went to see them in Sydney on the 10th and the crowd was so hyped the entire song. Pretty much the moment the beat was established, the entire theatre was clapping along to it and then midway through the song when they stopped singing, one of the warriors on stage went crowd surfing for a good minute or two, in the midst of all the clapping. Kai, Christopher and Maria struck gold with this song, because it's just so incredibly energetic and gets anybody hyped, even those who don't typically listen to pagan folk.
This is my meditation song of choice. Such a powerful experience! But to answer your question, Heilung is the brain child of Kai Uwe Faust (lead male vocalist with headpiece) - hes also a tattoo artist that i think either specializes or is an exclusive artist of Old Norse ink, Maria Franz (lady with the awesome antler headpiece), andChristopher Juul (6:39 in this video). In this musical theme, they first invoke Geri and Freki, the two wolves that accompany the god Odin, with howls. Their names mean Ravenous and Greedy in Old Norse. After they recite the invocation phrases, I shout this spear, I scream loudly. Then the ravens of Odin, Hugin and Munin, are invoked, who traveled the world observing everything and giving news. At the end they all invoke Odin repeating all the names by which the god is known until reaching ecstasy, preparing for battle. Mighty of the court, the wise, the dear, the one who talks to wolves, the welcome, the pale, the god of desires, inspiring, chief, red-haired, hooded, wand-bearer, famous lord, god of the hanged, wanderer of the mist, the needy, father of Yule, the tall one, rider on the attack, father of all, tree of victory, the one with the lost eye, who throws the spear, shining eye, throws a shaking shield, leader of the people the one with knowledge, bearer of cloak, keeper of secrets, the terrible, the stormy. If you are standing still during Hamrer Hippyer at the live ritual then you have no soul.

You guyz really like them?! Great. One of the Heilung crew looks like an “Ash-Biter” from way back. But then all of them dress like someone from the Viking era. I think the next one you should review is “Norupo”, the video filmed among some standing stones. As to hunting wolves; you hunt the good ones for long enough, they will eventually catch you! LOL
That song is amazing! Vikings Chant (Alfar Fagrahvél Edition) is one of the few albums I can listen to from start to finish without switching songs or jumping around/shuffling. It’s so gooooood!!!
It's a form of throat singing. It used to actually be a popular method of creating bass in beatboxing, believe it or not, but it has roots in folk and shamanic music. Best way I can describe it is to start by clearing your throat, then focusing on the vibration happening down in your throat as you do that. With enough practice, you can cause that vibration to happen down in your throat without needing to exhale/cough, and with even more practice you can eventually hold that vibration for an extended period of time with a slow exhale. At this point the vibration will be happening high up in your throat, so the resulting sound will be high pitch, but with even more practice you can "push" the vibration down lower in your throat, deepening the pitch. If you then try talking while holding the vibration, you can essentially talk "through" the vibration which is how Kai, the male vocalist, is singing as he does.
I absolutely love how Heilung sounds metal af without any corresponding instruments

"Phol and Wodan
were riding to the woods,
and the foot of Balder's
foal was sprained
So Sinthgunt,
Sunna's sister, conjured it;
and Frija,
Volla's sister, conjured it;
and Wodan conjured it,
as well he could..."
Hang the dying animals...
"...Like bone-sprain,
so blood-sprain,
so joint-sprain:
Bone to bone,
blood to blood,
joints to joints,
so may they be glued!"
The Tribal Ritual Trance Hypnotic HIGHLIGHT of the LIFA Album.....
I'm wondering if there were any mushrooms harmed during that performance? I'm guessing that there were some Blue Meanies sacrificed in the name of authenticity. Lol
As far as I know, this was a mushroom free event :D
@@TheNismo777 I think there's a good reason Kai Uwe Faust is eating a shroom in the opening of the video for Narupo and why he references mushrooms in Schlammschlact.
Lol.. If you say the title in Danish It's translate to english as Beating hippie's. 🤣🤣🤣
Helung's music had very refreshing effect on me
To get more of Maria Franz voice watch Euzen her former band at Castlefest 2015 performing The Stage and Metamorph
Mike Patton would have a field day working on something like this.
You should try seeing this live it was intense!!!!
my tribe!!!
The members from the drum artillery are from bands from Valravn and Sorten mulm ..... Hail !!
Heilung yessss
You guyz really like them?! Great. One of the Heilung crew looks like an “Ash-Biter” from way back. But then all of them dress like someone from the Viking era. I think the next one you should review is “Norupo”, the video filmed among some standing stones. As to hunting wolves; you hunt the good ones for long enough, they will eventually catch you! LOL
Please react to Wardruna Kvitravn
Two of the best bands I've seen live, for completely different reasons, have got to be Rammstein and Heilung.

That song is amazing! Vikings Chant (Alfar Fagrahvél Edition) is one of the few albums I can listen to from start to finish without switching songs or jumping around/shuffling. It’s so gooooood!!!
love your videos so much
Whats the vocal effect that is attached to the mic atril of the male voice dude? That voices like a Viking voice are unreal 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
To Das W[ölf Hüntĕrż,

This song will make you grow a beard and run around screaming like a barbarian 😂👍
Say it like you said it the second time, but with confidence, that'll atleast be 80% correct lol
I swear, at times I was sure they were going to break into "Hooked on a Feeling" (Ooga-shaka, Ooga-shaka, Ooga-shaka...)
😂🤣😂
