You are so right. Use the simplest to build a safe and secure shelter and than take your time to build a more comfortable one, this is, like you said, one of the best and will save your life. Best advice is to practice building such a shelter so it becomes second nature.

Your builds are more than human for an over-nighter, but you have the strength and stamina and that is what makes it most fun to watch! Keeping things interesting by doing everything a little different each time is a great recipe and keeps me hooked.
For those who think you can't do this: maybe you can't (god knows I'd quit on the first day long before this is completed), but you can take elements from it; instead of a square shelter, you could do a simple A-frame with a ridge line. Covering the fire is optional if you don't have rain on the forecast, but it could be a great idea if rain is coming on the 2nd or 3rd day, etc. No one will force you to complete all this in one day, the important part is have fun and be safe!

@@alexroskyar That could very well be. :-)
In normal times I am an historical re-enactor so fires are a part of the daily eating cycle. When the bugs get bad we'll often throw a handful or two of grass on the fire.

Thanks for reminding me that it only takes a few tools to get it done. It's like carrying a pocket knife in your pocket always, my grand father always said if you knew how to use it, it would save your life. Thanks again and God bless.

Oh I built a bed like that but I found it easier to get shorter logs, so I used the two big logs on the ends, two long logs for the sides, and then I cut a bunch of logs the short way and laid them on top for the bed. All of this, I learned from your channel so I am very appreciative for that. I also learned the duct tape fire starter thing from your channel. Good stuff, man!

The lessons we learn. Sometimes we teach things we don’t even realize we’re teaching others and those are the things we remember most.

Still no notifications, but don't sweat it. I go looking for you every Sunday evening. I'm digging the smaller builds with more 'sidebars' as to why you're doing what you're doing. Thanks very much for posting such good content.

I watch all your videos and the ones where you show how to tie knots seem to be easy to follow compared to other videos showing the same thing , when ever I need a knot I know the corporal has it covered and its outstanding af.

Incredible vid! Just want to say thanks for everything. You taught me a handful of knots earlier today and i made a little emergency tarp shelter with my son using your quick deploy ridge line system. We were just playing around but you have definitely inspired a new hobby in me to get these survival skills down pat just so i have them! Knowledge weighs nothing afterall

These older videos are way better than the new stuff with blow up tents.
