Personal anecdote: I got into sailing and I’ve never been happier. All the hard work and mental challenge, and then the payoff of cruising at like 6-7 knots under pure wind power is incredible. And the community is amazing and everyone helps each other out and likes to socialize. If you’re in a rut, you should look at getting a cheap sailboat and just jump in.
I feel that way with mountain biking and road cycling. It’s important to have a hobby/sport/interest that you’re passionate about. Sailing sounds awesome, I would like to eventually get a sailboat. I also want to get a stand-up jet ski
If I lived near any decent body of land (I guess Lake Michigan) but where I am the storage cost alone if sailboat is just beyond my means, much less the boat itself. Glad you found something that brings you peace.

The guy who wrote that book Radical Honesty also believes that people gotta dumb themselves down to be happier. He recommended this mantra: “Duuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.” An internal monologue of “duhhhh” would be way better than “ugh I’m so depressed and no one cares and my dog is gonna die and…” It’d probably make a lot of people smarter, as they’d be wasting way less energy on worry and fear.
Neil Brennan had some incredible one man shows. They were standup so I’m not sure why he called them a one man show but they were hilarious regardless.
I like Mark Normand but he's nowhere near that tier. His style doesn't really lend itself to being one of the GOATs. Shane's style is honestly much more suited to that status. If he keeps improving he could get up there

Chapelle can go just about anywhere and be funny. Burr can rant about whatever he wants and find funny. Norm can turn a joke into anything. Lopez can pull the funny out of anything. Louie weaves funny into things that aren't funny. Patrice is a monster and dominates you with funny. But that same thing that makes him great is what also turns people off of him. He bludgeoned people with funny.

Matt just ruined my opinion of him. Because Metzger is the fucking worst. The best thing he ever did was steal jokes for Schumer, which led to her falling off the map. Looking at it that way, I understand Matt's position.
I haven't seen his stand up but he's great on the Kyle dunnigan show and a lot of comedians I like work with him. I'm going to check him out a bit but you're right, he's tarnished from the Schumer stuff.
Hasan Minhaj is so bad at lying, which would be fine if he was doing it to tell a joke and not for attention. In one of his "standup" specials he lies about stuff that can be fact checked (Bill Maher episode with Sam Harrison and Ben Affleck), while trying to make a political statement.
