I have drive 8th and 9th gen and I have to say I really don’t understand how this 10th gen gets soo much hate. It’s perfect and continues to be a drivers car for the person that needs a commuter for work. It has power where you want it unlike the 8th and 9th gen that you have to rev out to get power. Also the chassis is ten times better than 8th and 9th gen. Honda is going in the right direction with the si. Getting that kind of fuel economy while still being fun I couldn’t find a better car for me. Great review.
8th 9th and 10th all are great and equally fast in a straight line, they just make their power in different areas. The 10th with its more modern dampers and tires is the handler of the bunch, but all can be modded to be almost anything, stock for stock one is not really better than the other in most performance aspects. Some simply don't want a turbo or the rev hangs and don't want to modd their car, some do not like the styling, and of course some like the immediacy of an NA engine over the waiting for the boost turbo and VTEC rush, and 8200 redlines. It's all good. Like all the civic si's before, it has to prove itself overtime, and so far it has.

Do you realize that power items and leather, etc add more weight? This car is a freaking marvel for the low price it commands. It's less than $25k for crying out loud. Name me another NEW car for under $25k that has over 200 hp, about 200 torque, weighs less than 3k lbs, has an adaptive suspension setting, a great sounding factory stereo and one of the best manual transmissions in the business. BTW, watch stock dyno run videos on this car. The power output on this engine has been low balled by Honda, meaning it makes more power than the numbers it publishes. And if you want to go faster, tune it. Oh and it gets 38 mpg highway. Wtf more do you want for the price?

I bought my Honda Si from Honda of Fort Worth back in September. I bought the Coupe (red) but wish I had waited and gotten the blue Si like you test drove. A note about Honda of Fort Worth. I had been speaking to "Frank" over the phone a few times before I went to test drive one. Frank was a joy to talk to and very helpful. When I went to test drive one, I ended up with a guy named "Ben". I have to say to it was one of the worst experiences I had buying a car. Sorry for my long rant about HOFW. When I was there, on a Saturday, I test drove a Silver one and loved it, but since it was Saturday, I had to wait until Monday to go to the Bank and get a check to buy the Si. I didn't want Silver and settled for Red even though I preferred Blue. When I drove the Red Coupe Si home, I noticed that the shifting was not as smooth and easy as the Silver one I test drove 2 days earlier. It has gotten better over the past month. I really love this car. My driving is almost all city and I'm getting 27.8 mpg which fits into Honda's specs. Really the only problem I'm having is getting into the car easily. I'm 6'1 and the bolstering on the seat makes it hard to get into the seat. Once I'm in, it's total comfort. It's much easier getting out of the car. My Si is a 2017 and you test drove a 2018? I had heard that they were going to put volume knobs back in the Hondas' instead of the slider volume control. Would/did you buy one? How do you feel about aftermarket upgrades to Hondas?
BigD Travels - Well 2 reasons. I couldn't find a Blue Coupe - there was one Blue Sedan, but I didn't want a Sedan. The other reason was that my current car was having serious problems and I had to get a car a lot sooner than I thought. Blue was my first choice; Red was my 2nd. I really didn't care for any other of Honda's colors.
I have the 2018 civic si coupe in energy green. Its fast. I love it! Great car. Best car I've had. I wish my car payment was cheaper but I can afford it. I have it in energy green pearl. Great video.
Jason Gorman same here. You get a lot of features including 400 watt stereo with this car. Problem is you can get a base gti or focus st for less. May not have as many features but you'll have a 2.0t. All 3 great cars though
its the only front drive coupe left in the usa, so please honda keep the coupe. the type r is only in hatchback, no coupe or sedan, i wish the type r came in coupe and sedan :)
505 enthusiast SI has Apple car play and an LSD though plus Honda reliability. In order to get an LSD with the GTI I believe you’d have to get the +$30,000 trim.
You can now get a 2017 SI for 23K which is a very competitive price. I was going to get the GTI but was unsure about the long term reliability of the car so I went with the safe choice of a honda
From my experience, Just to comment on the clutch and why it feels weird. It's a combination of a very high bight point and rev hang. And on top, since it doesn't have much feel you don't tend to not notice it. Once you get used to it though, it's acceptable. The amazing shifter makes up for it to me.
jay czyzyk the cheapest ive seen a type r in my area is 44k. Si is msrp all day. So Definetly a better deal. 44 k that is just to much for fwd and 306 horsepower. You can get a premium mustang gt with performance pack for less. But hey if someone wants to buy a type r that's ok. I'm just not
VitViper had done a tune on a Si with stock engine and stock turbo, with bolt-on and Hondata Flashpro. Putting down 295 whp and 370 ft-lb of torque ... isn't that impressive?
I test drove the top spec one in Australia VTI -LX which is vtec and turbo and was disappointed. .. i owned a dc2 so i was excited to get the civic. . I couldn't wait 6 months for the new type r so i ended up buying a different car. The civic was just a cruiser and didnt put the power Down when flooring it. I had mind set of buying it already before going for the test drive. I put too much hope and expectations in and was so sad after i drove it. Loved the shape and features but was let down by the engine... it just didnt feel sporty enough. I had to compromise for something else instead as i needed a daily driver because i wrote of my current beemer. If only the type r was avaliable then i would of been driving in one.. it was a dream of mine to have a vtec turbo honda and this was just a let down. .. i expected something better than the dc2 or dc5 with the civic lx. The civic should have been at least 150kw plus which would be more attractive to the younger crowd with its aggressive looks and styling... looks like a rocket but embarrassing if you take someone at the lights. A second hand 335 bmw that has 100kw extra power that cost about the same as a new level entry civic would be better. Im not knocking this car its just the styling is too much for what it outputs... makes it look like a ricer rocket,;there's just too much going on with the fake plastic bits. Honda made cars that were appealing to all ages in the 90s and all the models were good catering to all tastes.
Thank you for the best review for the 2018 Honda Civic Si Review. I am planning on buying the new 2018 in also that blue color. I have loved honda and I owned a previous honda SI in 2000 and I loved that too, but I then had a little family, a husband and 2 dogs so I am now driving a 2016 Ford Flex Limited, but am missing the manual gear, so I will save some money cause my ford flex is paid for by my husband, and he also agrees that we should get a smaller vehicle with at least some more power and more fun to drive. I have 2 miniature dachshunds so the big vehicle is just too big. Although, I will be buying the 4 door sedan on the SI instead of the 2 door. Again, thank you for the AWESOME review, as you have sold me to buy another one of these Honda Civic SI Models again.
I've been in the market for a 2018 Honda Civic si and was wondering what type of fuel you put in it. I know the owner's manual states that the car should receive premium, but can it take regular? Furthermore, I think the car has a knock sensor that changes the ignition timing caused by the difference in the fuel quality. Still, I would like to eliminate knocking altogether to preserve the engine.
I see it has the brake stop but does the Si have: Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) ?? These are major features i'd like to have.. and especially for a 2018 and Si model
Yo whats man I live in the DFW area as well. I went to Huggins Honda NrH for my modern grey si sedan :) . I love this car more than I thought I would, and as for those worried about the power , a down pipe and tune will get you near 300tq at the wheels
Got my Si Sedan in Aegean Blue too at Huggins Honda a month ago. Bought it one day after the car arrived at the dealership. It has only 6 miles on it and I'm the only person ever test drove the car.
How good does this car handle going up an incline? I've only driven stick on older cars, but I know a lot of modern stick cars have Hill Start Assist or Hill Descent Control or something that supposedly makes going up and down inclines (especially in traffic) less scary. I like driving stick, but man oh man do I sweat a bit at some of these hills/ramps/bridges.
What size are your feet!? I have an 8th gen and can rev match easily but the brake and gas pedal are so much further away in the 10th gen I can’t even do it lol
north east texas honda dealers are the worst. notice the shitty pinstripes? they all add that and charge you for it. looks terrible and give it a year or two and fade to shit
The thing I really dislike about Honda in general is that they offer their performance models without any of the luxury amenities - leather, radar cruise, power seats, led lights etc. etc. Why not have those as options? I bought a Mazda 3 GT hatch fully loaded, happier even though I have less power. I'll take a second slower to a much much more luxurious car vs the Si.
I dont really mind that they do this because sports car usually arent that comfortable i wouldnt want to mix sports cars and luxury cars. German Companies are famous for doing this.
they want to keep the price low so only the performance essentials and a sunroof lsd seats stereo, they leave the luxury for the touring trims and acura, they also do not want to give it cvt or auto which keeps the price down
sbkpilot11 they may not be options but the dealer really wants to sell you one. I was complaining about it not having a heated steering wheel and LED lights. He said he can have it installed. I'm not lying the salesman told me they can order parts for me and install them there for free. He told me the LEDs are $30 each and the heated wheel will be from another Honda model and it will be $100 so you're looking at $160 for a decent set up.
Well the Si was always built for real world affordability, so it does lack some "luxury" features. the type R has LED's for example, even the civic touring (non-si) has the features that your mazda has while still having the turbo power.
Yeah it does seems like it's going to be a tough comparison given that both of those cars are really good for what they're worth. I'm in the market in purchasing my first car and was torn between these two options. I feel that the Civic Si is a great bargain for its price, is loaded with tech stuff and fun to drive. The Mazda to me, feels like you're getting luxury for a great price and the sportiness of a hot hatch. Gotta test them out in person to pick a winner! Thank you for your reply and input!
agreed. I said the same thing about the clutch and steering wheel. everything is too soft. doesn't feel sporty at all. also I can not get used to the button parking brake. I enjoy driving my 8th gen so much more.
2018's are already on dealer lots. I know, because I just bought a 2017 Si over the 2018's due to the incentives they had out for the current year model .
Trying to help out but, you do realize that your username does not match up with Kurutamashi or even the latter, right? As it stands right now, it reads Kurumi ・Taoshi.
If anybody who owns one of these can comment on the reliability of the SI then I would appreciate it. I'm considering one of these but I'm not sure yet.
Gonna put 10k down on a white 2018 si this weekend. Hopefully I can talk the dealer to below a 250$ a month payment. Last time I checked my credit score it was over 750.
Hey there, thanks for the review. Considering both the Civic and Mazda 3 right now, and I'm wondering which car did you find better in terms of driving dynamics and performance?
Thanks for the quick reply! So far I've seen both the Civic and Mazda 3 and have driven the Mazda, and my impressions of it are very positive. The suspension was well tuned, the chassis felt very balanced and planted considering the size of the car. I did notice the engine has to be revved to get the power, but then it's not a turbo, and otoh power delivery was very smooth. The steering was light and felt a little vague for my taste but that's what you'd expect from a modern compact, and it's still better than a lot of other newer compacts like the Impreza which I tried and was honestly disappointed. But overall the Mazda like you said in your video was a very appealing and balanced package in terms of the way it drove, considering the type of car it is. Haven't driven the Civic so far, so your thoughts are always appreciated! Show less REPLY
For a car that’s supposed to be a “top of the line model” why no leather, power seats, blind spot monitoring or any really nice features? Better of getting a GLI or GTI. The interior of this car just screams cheap and cost cutting. On top of that it makes less power than the GLI.
Forrest's Auto Reviews realistically we should all know that manufacturers like VW Audi Mercedes all underrate their engines. APR has dynoed the GLI At 225HP & 237TQ. Even if you opt for the GLI you still get leather standard. The 2.0T that’s currently in the GLI & GTI are great reliable engines. Yes Honda may leg up in that department but as a whole I can’t see why anyone would spend money on an SI when it feels cheap and doesn’t come with certain options that in its competitors
My previous model bmw with the m pack came with velvet and cloth seats... my father asked the dealer "what's this crap pay extra for the m pack and the leather seats are replaced with these? ?" Lol... it does make sense for a m spec because if you're gonna go on track you wont be slidding all over the place as opposed to leather seats. It was 3k extra over the leather seats, you could also adjust them with inflatable bags that air built for more comfort if that makes sense.
I had a Wolfsburg, a GLI, a GTI then here I am with this. I switched as I have gotten cuts from the plastic around the shifter started peeling in the GTI. VW’s interior blows Now had electrical tape everywhere inside the GTI while the precious VWs were fine machines.
That doesn't make sense, they are completely different cars. The current 10th gen Si has a tuned up L15B7 engine. The base Accord has the same L15B7 though slightly tuned down. If we go back a generation the 9th gen Si has a tuned up K24Z7. Guess what engine the base accord had, A slightly tuned down K24Z3. It's always been like this. Expecting A Si to compete against the 2.0T Accord is like saying the stock Si from last generation can compete with the Last gen v6 Accord.
I have drive 8th and 9th gen and I have to say I really don’t understand how this 10th gen gets soo much hate.

First thing you did was get the color wrong. Not Argent Blue, its Aegean Blue.
What does the nav. system look like? Living in a hot climate I know those metal shift knobs can turn into fireballsi impossible to touch.
Monty Montaño only Canadian version has Honda link Navi , us version si uses your Android or iPhone on screen with Android auto and apple car play.
German Companies are famous for doing this.
they want to keep the price low so only the performance essentials and a sunroof lsd seats stereo, they leave the luxury for the touring trims and acura,
they also do not want to give it cvt or auto which keeps the price down
sbkpilot11 they may not be options but the dealer really wants to sell you one.
Mazda has nothing that can compare to the Si, even with their luxury items. We got 2 Mazda’s, and neither of them feel as nice or racy as our Si.
no 9 gen will trade
Did you put it in neutral and coast to a stop? Goodness...do you drive a standard transmission much?
Wayne S. He would rather replace brake versus replacing a clutch 🤷🏻♂️
How long have you been driving a manual Wayne ?
Is it possible to get one without the spoiler? :(
Whats the 2018 and 2017 difference then ?
What gimbal did you used?
I am always getting a stick shift unless it is a super car.
It’s the same thing as 2017 nothing has change.
whats a better value. civic si or accord 2.0t
Nice car, but this car needs some led or hid headlights!
What is arjen blue? It' Aegean blue. Like the aegean sea, buddy.
Very true. And very sad.
Having reviewed both the Mazda 3 Hatch (MT) and the Civic SI, which would be your preference for daily driving?
Yeah it does seems like it's going to be a tough comparison given that both of those cars are really good for what they're worth. I'm in the market in purchasing my first car and was torn between these two options. I feel that the Civic Si is a great bargain for its price, is loaded with tech stuff and fun to drive. The Mazda to me, feels like you're getting luxury for a great price and the sportiness of a hot hatch. Gotta test them out in person to pick a winner! Thank you for your reply and input!
Eddie Tan I would choose the si. Simply because its sportier and has a limited slip differential. Depends on what you want and your needs
Don't buy the si. Go take a test drive, it sucks in my opinion. Clutch is too soft.. Feel weird as fuck.
Eddie Tan get the new turbo accord man. Would be a lot better. Si is a piece of shit.
agreed. I said the same thing about the clutch and steering wheel. everything is too soft. doesn't feel sporty at all. also I can not get used to the button parking brake. I enjoy driving my 8th gen so much more.
I want this car
That's Huggins honda I think not Honda fort worth.
Whats the difference between the SI and the RS?
Ryükk Not even a fair comparison. Si competes more with the ST. Type R civic is more comparable with the RS.
@@churro2693 a little late but he meant RS civic in asia. Thats what its called 🤘
Don't you mean 2017 si? Haven't heard of a 2018.. Yet
2018's are already on dealer lots. I know, because I just bought a 2017 Si over the 2018's due to the incentives they had out for the current year model .
Pfff i live in europe how can i get this car.....
Great review Bro, keep it up. I've been waiting for this thank you so much.
くるみ・たあし What’s kurumi taoshi? Are you trying to say “car fun”?
Zuby A (Kuruma) means Car in english.
くるみ・たあし Lol, so is that what your username reads?
(Kurutamashi) its actually Komuro Takahashi
Trying to help out but, you do realize that your username does not match up with Kurutamashi or even the latter, right? As it stands right now, it reads Kurumi ・Taoshi.
I subscribe to Texas UA-camrs!
I have one, best car I ever owned. It’s the first car I ever owned
lol
If anybody who owns one of these can comment on the reliability of the SI then I would appreciate it. I'm considering one of these but I'm not sure yet.
Exellent 👍👌
This car does have a spare
No it does not have a spare tire. It comes with a tire repair kit.
Blue stitching would of looked nice in the blue Si
Gonna put 10k down on a white 2018 si this weekend. Hopefully I can talk the dealer to below a 250$ a month payment. Last time I checked my credit score it was over 750.
super mario I sincerely hope you got that deal considering what I just got on one
I got one a few weeks ago. Put 13 down on a 2018 with 48 miles on it. I pay weekly instead of monthly. 75$ a week. Easily affordable for me.
super mario that's like $300+ a month
hey man if you claim to have a score of over 750, then you sure got ripped off man especially after putting down $13K???.....Damn dude
Alex Ramirez You don’t get a discount on price because of credit, you get a better deL on financing or leasing terms.
Dodge charger look? Bruh

Trigger Happy I’m guessing you mean alcantara seats which are way nicer than regular cheap cloth seats that come in the civic.
I had a Wolfsburg, a GLI, a GTI then here I am with this. I switched as I have gotten cuts from the plastic around the shifter started peeling in the GTI. VW’s interior blows Now had electrical tape everywhere inside the GTI while the precious VWs were fine machines.
The front really digs in the corners😂
65% weight in front and FWD. oops.
VTEC or GTFO
Nice video but it’s not a coupe.
It's a wagon
Typical small turbo engine...power drops off after 5K.
Lol
The rims are ugly AF!
They aren't that bad. Look pretty futuristic.
All the hate from people who don’t have the newest. Mines better blah blah. Yours is not better I promise.
No vtec smh in my opinion accord is winning as far as being better car
That doesn't make sense, they are completely different cars. The current 10th gen Si has a tuned up L15B7 engine. The base Accord has the same L15B7 though slightly tuned down.
If we go back a generation the 9th gen Si has a tuned up K24Z7. Guess what engine the base accord had, A slightly tuned down K24Z3. It's always been like this. Expecting A Si to compete against the 2.0T Accord is like saying the stock Si from last generation can compete with the Last gen v6 Accord.
I drove this car nothing like what this guy is talking about . Fakenews
SI is junk.
