    So strange that you dismiss the "masses" as unimportant throughout this video. I thought this was a price checking app to rival other services out there?
    Now it just seems like you've spent $100k to create a way for your "partners" to more easily access your buy list, when there were a thousand ways to do that already that didn't cost six figures.
    Sure you'll just label me a "hater Hank" but seriously, what is the actual point of this app beyond being able to see your "buy list"?

  • @iinfamousblaze021

    Wait, and im not being mean here. I’m just now realizing that the whole point of the app is to send games ONLY to him. I don’t get what’s the point of seeing prices on eBay and Amazon if you can’t send stuff to them straight from the app I’m assuming. It makes price checking easier yes but like in reality there’s really no point to having those price comparison in this app

      And it also makes no sense in financial terms cause if he’s expecting more business then chances are him and his one employee won’t be enough to keep up with influx of items and so therefore he might need to hire someone else to help process and someone else for customer care as well, on top of what it costs to run the app. I think his monthly debt would be too much to make any profit, he’s going to need to crank out a lot of UA-cam videos to invest back into the business. Idk man

    I've sent in twice using the buy list. I send stuff in when I get enough, I likely wouldn't be able to generate $250 a month in sales. The only premium feature I would want is the buy list. I'd love to see an a cheaper option where I could pay to just use the buy list personally. I think for bigger resellers the $25-$50 price point is very fair, but for smaller resellers it cuts into profits a bit more.

    • @CalebCoffie

    Just for reference, comparing fees on ebay vs the subscription cost of 1up isn't really an apples to apples comparison, as on 1up you are selling for a tad less than you'd get on ebay in order to leave a margin for you guys. Overall, I don't think the $50 price point is going to be a consideration for the reseller businesses that are generating like 6 figures a year and such. But if your goal is to get small part time resellers selling to you, the $50 cost is high. Kind of just going to depend what you prefer, a handful of big businesses selling you tons of stuff for a higher sub cost, or a bunch of small businesses selling you small amounts of stuff for a low sub cost (you still get to keep the big businesses but now there's more headache and variable with tons more people selling to you).

    • @thedizkid2430
      @thedizkid2430 5 місяців тому +1

      Couldn’t agree more the comparison at the end of fees vs app cost is just not the same. Also at $50 a month this is definitely more suited to full time resellers vs part time resellers.

    • @NickRoe
      @NickRoe 5 місяців тому

      I agree and just made a similar comment (too high for smaller guys)
      I sell DVDs on Amazon as a side hustle, so I’m always around video games… I just don’t sell video games there.
      I think Caleb’s bread and butter (over time) woul be smaller (possibly even as low as 50-100$/mon) resellers if I was wanted as someone to sell to him.

    • @simplez9343
      @simplez9343 5 місяців тому

      indeed.
      it'll be a little hard even for full-time sellers who deal with multiple categories, but do deal in video games (on a smaller scale). but maybe that's where his focus is. a very niche/smaller audience market at first.

  • @3dge7
    @3dge7 5 місяців тому +6

    Not finished yet. But there is a logical error. The only people that will pay a subscription are people who sell a lot to you. But if the people who sell a lot to you get it for free, then you wouldn't be making any money...
    Advance on this... If you're looping around to giving it to your business customers for free then what was the point in doing all this? You would have to add bullshit to it

  • @SinbadComics

    You can take this with a grain of salt as I do not buy and sell video games, but I do know what I would think if I did.
    What I think you're going to wind up with is this: you will have your "regulars" that never have to pay for the app as they do enough business with you... and that's it long term. Some people will try it out for a month or two, but will cancel. Why? Because 99% of people that buy and sell, probably do it as a Hobby. They spend maybe a day a week hitting yard sales and such and MAYBE they'll have a couple hundred worth of video games to sell.
    Do you think these people are going to spend $25-$50-$100+ per month? God no. That's the difference between them making money and not making money.
    I don't meant to be harsh, but I FIRMLY believe that if you want this to be successful you need to go with the assumption that the $100k+ investment was just a "sunk cost". Your goal should be to get as many people using it as possible. I'd say that it'd be appropriate for a ONE TIME fee of $10 to get the app would be enough to get rid of any scammers but get enough usage. Your app is going to be a money loser, the goal is to make it up with additional sales.

    • @Whatsacody
      @Whatsacody 5 місяців тому +1

      Incredibly insightful point.
      On top of that, I could see that if this is how it went, he might make his regulars pay still; which likely would drive them away and lose him business. Fundamentally what this is doing is making people have to pay money to sell to him; when there are other businesses that don't have a paywall to sell to this is a losing strategy in the long term.

    • @NickRoe
      @NickRoe 5 місяців тому +1

      100% correct. I would have to source video games for 2-3 months before it’d be worth paying $50 to make $200.
      This needs to be a service that allows you to sell $20-50 worth of stuff monthly. I firmly believe (to use your word lol) his bread and butter will be hobby sellers and weekend warriors.

    • @MrJohnSmalley
      @MrJohnSmalley 5 місяців тому

      He has like 450k subscribers across both channels. Even if only 1% of those people send an application in, that's almost 5k applications that need to be manually reviewed by a business that has like 2 employees 😂.
      And it would be kinda hard to automate that review process without running the risk of a certain amount of bad applications squeezing by undetected. So, if each review took only 5 minutes to process manually with 5k applications to get through, that's around 417 hours of work. 😅

    • @TheMoneyMasteryHub
      @TheMoneyMasteryHub 5 місяців тому

      I think 1% is the realistic number, and probably a high estimate for number of people who would apply. I think you could automate it to where you eliminate most applicants based on answers they provide. It would filter to you just a handful and he already has his current partners who he'd be able to add himself that wouldn't need to apply. Feel like you're doubting how much could be automated in that and the number of actual applicants. The paid option is there also the application is only for those businesses (maybe some high end resellers) that do not want that extra barrier to entry for what is a B2B transaction helping both (why would I need to pay to help you type of thing).

    • @MrJohnSmalley
      @MrJohnSmalley 5 місяців тому

      @TheMoneyMasteryHub If those application questions are like a multiple choice format (otherwise, how else would it be automated), then I could see how easy it would be for applicants to just straight-up lie. Manual review is by far the safest and most secure way to prevent people with bad intentions, making it through.
      And in all fairness, there probably is no solution in Calebs mind where the quickflips feature is heavily discounted or free from the start unless you were already a partner before. Outside of him "pleasing the partners" it would only make sense the next most important goal is recouping the investment cost. He already stated that the "masses" are not really a priority. This app is heavily focused on benefiting his business first. Which is fine he spent 6 figures, and I wouldn't expect less.

  • @griner65
    @griner65 5 місяців тому

    This seems like a much better pay system to me. I would only use the free version to list out my collection. I would also hope there is a way to export the info as well :)
    However, if I was trying to resell then this seems reasonable. I really like the idea of getting free months based on the amount they sell to you. I would also cap the number of free months someone can get from one transaction as well. That could encourage repeat business and prevent scammers from trying to eat the cost of one month to sell a bunch of stuff that is a majority unusable.

  • @CavanDuck
    @CavanDuck 5 місяців тому +2

    The app itself will not make any money. It's either businesses consistently using it & getting freemium months or users trying it out & getting a refund or turning into consistent freemium users. The buy list needs to make you alot of money, but if you recieve too much stuff that you are paying too close to market value for, that'll eat into your time & costs if you get more staff due to low profit margins & alot of volume.
    Hopefully I'm wrong though, just my thoughts on it

    IMHO you have solved the paradox of price. Legacy users enjoys a flat lifetime cost and new users bear the increased price as the App enlarges is perfectly fair. I am still not paying quarterly charges for an app I subscribed too 10 years ago. If you were to subscribe to it today it would cost you 5 times as much as I paid as new user. Seeing that the cost of entry reinforces my brilliant and timely adoption choice way back when. Kind of a value reinforcement kicker for your legacy users. Also a barrier to entry for competitors. Competitors will price off of your evolving new user price and your first users won't be interested maybe. Unless the competitor has solved problems in your App you've been unable to by then. It's a delight to listen to you and your reasoning on both channels. Thanks for posting this video.

  • @theScribbless
    @theScribbless 3 місяці тому

    A couple of thoughts for you to take or leave. Couldn't you use a volume pricing model? Essentially, the more that someone sells through the app, the greater the discount applied. Eventually, if they are selling so much that they are valued customers, then they are not paying anything. Another challenge here is that you are trying to serve two customer types with the one tool - the everyday reseller, and your B2B customers. If the goal is to create an easier way for you to gain access to more B2B customers, and make it easier for them to transact - then design it for that purpose. If the idea is to build a price rationalisation tool for the everyday reseller, then design it for that (perhaps looking at how to use the data collected to undertake more responsive price arbitraging). Trying to kill two birds with one stone will increase the business complexity and potentially yield a product which doesn't work for either customer group. To use your own idea - do less better.

    I can’t wait for this app! I don’t flip videos I only collect but I love watching the content. This app will be the push for me to use videos games as a second income. I would easily pay 50 a mouth just to use it.

    The profit margin is most certainly there even at a $25 price point per month. You are brave and I respect your entrepreneurial passion. Great Job!

    Honestly... I think your price point is way too high. You're basically pricing out most of the smaller resellers imo.
    Possiblly a $7.99 - $9.99 monthly would be better or just offer a yearly subscription at $99.99 with the option to have a portion or all refunded after hitting certain sellers goals.
    If you begin to have issues with scammers that send in subpar items on multiple occasions, just black list their address from future transactions.
    For example, if someone was selling to you on average $120 worth of good product, they wouldn't meet the $250 criteria for any free months and thus end up spending $600 yearly. $100 - $120 a year is a more approachable entry point and will hopefully even out monthly revenue with a higher volume of paid users compared to having less paid users at a higher price point while still keeping out potential scammers.
    Just a few thoughts, Good luck.

    You are so condescending! The reason you have "hater hanks" is because you built a youtube channel off the backs of collectors and then you talk down on them when they critique you. My bias: I am a reseller, I do not collect video games, I barely play video games.

    Ultimately you know how your business and industry operates better than most ppl since your the one been growing it this far
    Imo I think you could really play with the tier a bit more
    Collector - Free and really focus on collection tracking and portfolio aspects of the app (these will potentially be your future customers)
    The Yard sale filler - $2.99 /month, gives you access to the price checker analytics so you can check up the price of games etc
    The Hobby Reseller - 9.99/month more analytic details and access to the buying list but they can only submit upto $x value or X amount of games per month, so they have to be selective with it
    Full Time Flipper - 14.99/month. Access to everything below and the ability to submit 100 items per month
    Flipper pro- $24.99/month. Full access, unlimited submitions and credit back to cover monthly sub fee.
