the car ad that I really liked was the volkswagen “das auto”
I remember that one. The golf one was also great. Where that dude said gooooooolffffff.
Remember the TDI commercial where the woman was about to fill her car with diesel and everyone in the area began running to her shouting "Lady! That's diesel!" with the woman replying "I know." Ha, sexist ads are great.

Angel Cruz Plus, in NASCAR, all the cars are now stock cars, which no one really cares about as they can't own the exact same car even if they are based on the same platform and model. Unlike old NASCAR which did use the cars the consumer buys instead of a custom buildt car just for racing.

I think the best modern car ad was the teasers for the Dodge Demon. I swear I would wait on their page hitting refresh on the day they would release a new teaser. I can't afford one but man those ads were hype.

Actually the term "my dog spot" referenced when his first ads would play on the tv station. They were shown late at night or early morning, the "Dog spots" in advertising lingo. Why he kept it up throughout his success, remind himself of his beginnings.

My favorite ad campaign was one that Toyota ran for the GT86, where they talked about making an app that deliberately chooses the longest route from a to b, because the 86 wasn't about a commute, it was about the driving experience. It still resonates with me

Best form of advertising. Have your car in the Forza, GranTurisimo etc videogames. Bought my last 4 cars as a result of experiencing them virtually first then watching reviews online. I have had no regrets. It's the best way to target the younger demographic. Not so sure if your gramps could be pursued in this manner though.

Takafumi Arisawa I got a used 2004 Mazda RX8, sold it after a year and later bought a new 2008 Nissan 350Z(the one featured on my channel). I blame the early GranTurisimo games for influencing these purchases. I later bought a new 2013 Nissan 370Z and a used 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer GT. These are Forza's fault. Still have my 2 Nissans and the Mitsu. Might be selling the Mitsu soon though.

So tonight I was shooting a family reunion thing in the west of Ireland and an old gentleman with an American accent came up to me and was like " I used to shoot" and I was like "oh cool, what kind of work did you do?" "Mostly advertising " then he named off a few big companies including Volkswagen.... Like this video came out 5 days ago and I'm like "think small?" And he's like "that was me" ... Man it was so cool to meet a legend and know his work! Thanks donut :)

The Jeep Grand Cherokee ad with Johnny Cash's "Cut you Down" gives me chills to this day. Same with the Dodge Charger ad with George Washington driving a charger to do battle with the British.

Interesting to note that on 2011 when that Vader VW commercial came out, it was 4 years before Star Wars made its way back into main stream everyday culture. imo it was refreshing and exciting to suddenly see a kid dressed as Vader with the theme song playing thus why the commercial went viral.

Seeing the historic footage and ads just SLAPPED me tf up with a killer idea, a Fast n Furious reboot/prequel set post WW2, showing the historic discoveries of hot rod and tuner advancements and all the killer old rides that can possibly be fit in. Now I want to know what the beginnings of street racing looked like all around even if its the Hollywood twist of it, but seriously its an untapped big budget movie waiting to happen. Who do you think would be the best actors for that? Imagine if we got a whole historic series of fnf covering like every possible smoking hot era, a movie for every scene and its beginnings, IMAGINE AN FNF WHILE GROUP B IS GOING ON FOR INSTANCE

You kinda forgot a memorable ad. The 1966 Chevy commercial. The boom one it showcased every car in their line up. And they also had another ad with the Nova's when they did stunts with them so it was also kind of a milestone.

The 60s and early 70s VW ads were-are-by far the best ad campaign of all time. Nothing else is even close.
A later VW commercial-late 90s-that was good IMO was the one for the u remarkable Cabrio but featuring almost zero speaking but Nick Drakes Pink Moon playing.
Joe Isuzu was good also and so was the Mazda campaign featuring James Garner.

Look up if you get a chance, The Austin Montego advert in the UK from the 1980s, which is one of my favourite adverts of all time. The car wasnt great but the advert was a work of art involving stunt in a car park carried out by a great stunt man, including hand braking and sliding a car between two cars into a car parking spot and some two wheel driving. Its an absolute great piece of driving.

Imo, the most iconic commercial was one for the Chrysler 300 in the early 2000s. They used Only by Nine Inch Nails and the car was smooth metallic black. Young me thought it was the coolest

The most memorable car ads for me have to be Honda's from the early 2000's. Always been some of the best.

Volkswagen is the king of car ads. The Das Auto ones for the mk5 GTi were hilarious. And I loved the one for the mk5 Rabbit reboot where all the Rabbits are all over some small village, and they show a white, a black and a silver one drive into a tunnel, then a monochrome Harlequin one pops back out.

I feel what Nolan is saying about the Model T. I recently was gifted a car by my grandmother, coincidentally a Ford, and I think it’s crazy that if I want to, I can crank it up and drive across the country. The freedom is also insane, because I don’t need my parents to give me a ride anywhere.
