That's also the part i appreciated the most, it's such a rarity to hear someone say [& with confidence!] "do you see me making any mistakes? what am i doing wrong & what could i be doing better" It really demonstrates true intellect cuz it shows someone as not just able to admit fault, but mainly that there willing to learn from their shortcomings, further elevating one's awareness in the subject at hand, rather than one letting their ego control them an taking advice on comments up the butthole. I applaud you for this and hope others will learn from YOU in this regard
I am a former high school shop teacher.....and the reason I subscribed, was your honesty to tell and show your mistakes. You make mistakes and you learn from them. There may be times that you need to take a deep breath and calm down. But we have all been there. And the fact you welded your clamp.....don't think the best of us haven't done that!! Be careful grinding down your welds, if the weld has not penetrated deep enough, grinding might just make the weld disappear or be severely weakened.....I think most channels hide the mistakes, and you don't, even with some pro's....your mistakes reminds them that they too always have to think about the next step with safety ALWAYS coming in FIRST.... continue on Son...your doing GREAT!!!
I'm always skeptical when people put metal frames with woodwork, but it really brought this whole piece together. The metal frame and copper inlay bring a nice modern look to the wood!
This is the most beautiful desk I have ever seen in my life. I am going to build my own desk at some point and I am definitely going to apply this to the design. Thank you for the inspiration man.
This is awesome. I love the bowtie emblem in the surface. Hopefully your charger pad doesn't overheat and is able to last a while within your table! I probably would have cut about 1" of extra hole radius so it at least gets airflow around the sides of it. But if it works, it works.
I like the fact that you don't pretend to be a perfect man and show us the little mistakes (must of people don't do it). Great idea I enjoy watching your work thanks for sharing!
Beautiful desk. Maybe one idea; maybe use velcro to mount the charger and/or something that is not so permanent for routing the cable. Just in case the charger goes bad you can always replace it. Amazing job.
With the thickness of the wood, plus the case, plus the Velcro, the charger may be too far away from the phone at that point. A detachable cover plate with a foam pressure pad (to press the charger against the wood) might be a better option.
Hot glue is not all that permanent. It can scraped out easily with minimal damage to the wood. Plus its hidden so even if you do damage it slightly you'll never see it.

+Brandon Yeo I don't think you understand convenience, The reason wireless charging is so popular for phones is because it's convenient to just set your phone somewhere and it'll start charging without needing to be plugged in, Even if plugging it in is quicker and more efficient, Most people will usually pick the more convenient route.
This is awesome!!!! I am looking to build a desk for a friend as a gift, and this was the perfect video to watch. I love the wireless charging- brilliant!
Great looking table. Since I don't have all the fancy tools I'm buying the butcher block countertop and staining it and sealing it with poly. Came out looking really nice Brad! I love the contrast between the copper and walnut and the wireless charging blows my mind - curious if it the distance from the phone affects the speed of charging?
small tip if you first only tag the inner edges you can still correct the angles than tag the outsides to so you dont really have to clamp it down as hard or if something is to big it will come in hamdy some day.. you can also use a piece of copper and clamp it in with the part you are welding because it wont stick on copper ;)
Great video, I can see why it went viral, an easy and well built project that even I can tackle. Thanks. I will add a multi-outlet under the table so I can plug in my laptop and other gear.

you should have drilled a small hole under the inlay from behind to bleed out the excess epoxy,so that it would fit flush to the surface and eliminate the excess sanding.Just a small thought

Came out looking really nice Brad! I love the contrast between the copper and walnut and the wireless charging blows my mind - curious if it the distance from the phone affects the speed of charging?
Haven't done any testing to see differences in charging time
The further the phone is from the charging plate the lower the induced current. so yes it will increase the charging time
wireless charging isn't fast enough to be properly useful yet anyway, so it's more keeping it topped off than actual charging
SlipperyAvocado the Samsung devices have wireless fast charging though, full charge 0 to 100% in about 2 1/2 hours.
@@GirthyNuts which is about 2 hours slower than the fastest charging available in phones rn
