Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are 2022 role-playing video games developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company for the Nintendo Switch. They are the first instalments in the ninth generation of the Pokémon video game series. First announced in February 2022, they were released on 18 November 2022.
Unlike the previous instalments in the Pokémon franchise, Scarlet and Violet take place in an open world. The games take place in the Paldea region, based on the Iberian Peninsula. There are three separate stories the player can follow. Scarlet and Violet introduce 110 new Pokémon, alongside two new regional forms. Also introduced are time-displaced creatures known as Paradox Pokémon, and the Terastal phenomenon, which allows a Pokémon to transform into its exclusive "Tera Type". The games maintain features from previous modern Pokémon games, including large open areas and Pokémon appearing in the overworld.
Scarlet and Violet received mixed reviews from critics. The games were praised for their open world formula and story, while their graphics and technical problems at launch received criticism. The games sold over 10 million copies in their first three days, making them Nintendo's biggest launch of all time. By the end of 2022 they sold over 20 million copies combined, making them the fourth best-selling Pokémon games of all time, behind Pokemon Gold and Silver by 3 million copies sold.

I mean ironically this is sort of a oxymoron, on why people further hated pokemon scarlet/violet. Because despite being `Open world`, it wants to shove you thru a extensive loading cutscene every time you start a single battle like it never learnt its lesson from Legends Arceus.
Which is not as much of a problem in a low brain-power of some portable game, but when its on console and you have todo it hundreds of times, any extensive-ness can get boring, especially when it next-to-nil change between the entries. Which is why later games either were fantastic at speeding it up with much snappier and smooth transitions, use good OSTs that never get tire`some to groove to or vastly reduce the encounter amount you need in a game by upping the gains to match.
That or be a real chad of a RPG and just have enemies on the open world map you can choose to charge at to start a fight, without them littering the map so much that its impossible to get past any of them without slowing to a eff`ing crawl.
Legends Arceus being the best cause you have to actually throw one of your freaking pokemon at the wild pokemon to engage. Otherwise you can easily walk/crawl/run pass or even cheese them by circling them as they do tackles and other attacks at you for `getting up in thar turf.`
Moral of the story: If they aint gonna be like Octopath in the levels of polish, and they continue to insist they have to be an open world game, then they better be like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth/Remake which have instanteous combat transitions that dont need to spawn some `combat zone` or have you immedaitely get a fixed distance away and plant yourself there on starting the battle. Just make it free-roam do-whatcha want even while your waiting on the ATB to do any actions level of fun.

Honestly I feel that. I take one step, and unless I have repels, I summon a horde in XYORAS, or get a Pokémon that I don’t want in the other games. Make matters worse in SMUSUM, the opposing Pokémon might prevent me from fleeing then calling in its SOS help

This is why you get super repels, you get more steps to money value when compared to max repels.
Dark is weak to fighting so Nate was just being type-effective.
