I lived at Glenochil in the prison staff houses. My Father was a prison officer. I went to St Serfs Primary School in Tullibody, a mile along the road. Great memories of my time there, we had the freedom of the woods, to construct dens, make bows & arrows, go fishing in the River Devon.
@williamhorne6421 a lot of them have now been sold off. The rural nature of the village would've been great for that. Thank you so much for watching the video.
My first sentence back in 2001 was spent in glenochil when they had used to house YO's. Wish it was the last sentence i did but that didnt happen until 2015 where i had been back in Glenochil. So my stupidity started and ended inside that jail.
My mum's stepdad had his coalyard at the west end of the Glen Ochil area . It was called the Nackery ( sic ) Back in those days it was just a borstal . Some of those later prisoners deserve to rot in hell .
@scotlandshistory it was a detention centre where the maximum sentence was 3 months but if you behaved 8 weeks 5 days unfortunately I was there in 1977
Served 4 years 3 months there from 1988-1992. Good education unit that was a bright light in a dark room.
It's a tough job. Thank you so much for watching.
Enjoyed the story of these criminals
@@noreenclark2568 thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it x

A lot of very bad people, incarcerated in Glen Ochil they got their comeuppance.
Nicely narrated video, covered within dignity. 5*
@SeeScotland thank you so much x
Another really interesting video.
Thank you Claire x

Thank you for sharing that. Hopefully, it wasn't too bad a place to be. Thank you so much for watching the video, too.

Thank you so much and welcome to the channel!
I worked there for 6/7 years from 2012-2018. Got sacked amidst many rumours 🤫 great staff but the job itself I don’t miss one bit man.
I've heard it's a tough job and it's not one I'd want to do. Thank you so much for watching the video.

Thank you so much for watching. I like the name of the coal yard. Justice eventually gets them, especially when forces are determined.
Don't think it was ever a borstal
It was a Young Offenders prison for a while, so not sure if borstal covers that, but the word could have been used colloquially.

@stephenrichardson9540 lesson learned I'm sure. I remember it as HMYOI Glenochil years before it changed to taking adult prisoners.
IN COMPARISON TO SCOTLANDS OTHER PRISON THIS ONE IS RATHER SMALL BUT KEPT SOME OF SCOTLANDS MOST NOTORIOUS.
@michaelobrien9825 that's very true, and yes, it is a smaller prison than the more well-known ones. Thank you so much for watching.
H3/c62 got out in 2023 never be bk
Thank you so much for watching the video.
Paul ferris used to play for Newcastle United in the 1990s he was a fucking great left winger
