Interesting, in Scandinavia, rice pudding is eaten for Christmas and before serving the cook puts a whole almond in it and whoever gets the almond in their bowl gets a small gift.
@@scotlandshistory how do you consume rice pudding in Scotland? In Sweden we have it with sugar and cinnamon powder. Some people add extra milk but not me
Interesting content, i know one or two of the traditional things of what we did on our guising trips, my sister and i were told by our mum not to leave our street to go wandering but as there were plenty bairns around us a lack of money was no use, we needed it to buy fireworks so off we went to a more affluent area , it paid off but..... Mum wasn't to pleased when she found out. ....Ah happy days. 😁
Soot from the lumb all over your face, an old staw hat and your moms fur coat. A couple of songs and joke's. At the end of the night back home will a pocket full of pennies and a few thruppenny bits. 😂

I remember hearing about this.
I didn't know that but it's a similar thing. I do like rice pudding. Thank you so much for watching the video x

@joannabaparileszczynska we don't really add cinnamon to it, but sugar yes, and if being really decadent, cream.
@@scotlandshistory highly recommend anyone to try cinnamon powder (if it’s something one likes), it tastes so good with warm rice pudding
Another really interesting video. You do seem to be on a roll recently. I remember dooking for apples. I used both methods.
Just luck, I think. I remember doing that too. As always, thank you so much for watching Claire x
@@scotlandshistory I do have a lot of happy memories of Halloween as a kid
Wonderful as as always xx❤😊 we always had a swede an im 47 pumpkins were not really available and it took us all day to hollow lol
They did! Pumpkins are so much easier, but I still prefer our traditional lanterns. Thank you once again for watching.

Yes, you always had to do something for sweets when we were wee. Thank you so much for watching x
Tattie bogles ain't neeps!
They were known as that in some parts and weren't 'scarecrows' like in other parts of Scotland.
