    i have never watched a cream of corn recipe online or anywhere else before (besides my family's recipe of course) and this surprised me! i know my family has always made it in the oven (almost like a cassarole but not at the same time) and we always did it the plain-jane way. you should really try it in the oven its sooooo good laura. ive never tried it on the stove or with bacon before! looks good!

    Oh!!!! Freeze your cobs to add as flavor to other dishes or stocks!!! sounds weird but it's an awesome trick to use all the product.!!!

  • @Dpearl
    @Dpearl 9 років тому +1

    Hi Laura, what you can do with the kernel-less cobs is you can make a corn broth out of it. Just boil the heck out of it until the broth is reduced and sweetened. You can flavor it with a bit of salt. It turns into a lovely light and sweet broth if you are planning on making some kind of soup later. :)

    If you always use the cast iron skillet, there must be a reason... better flavor? color? even cooking? It's useful information for those who don't have certain kitchen utensils, and gives the viewer a chance to consider if they should get one or review other options.
    I don't understand why people say they do something in a certain way, and then say, "don't ask".
    But I do enjoy your recipes and your channel!

    I know this might be a southern thing and really fattening lol but a great tip is to go ahead and fry the bacon in the skillet, drain some of it off, and use the bacon grease instead of butter to continue frying the corn. It eliminates the need for extra butter and you dont have to use as much milk or cream. Great recipe though, Laura! :)

    Wait, so this doesn't require 'cream' cheese? The humanity. I feel like I've been lied to my entire life. Growing up in Texas, there were always best BBQ competitions in Austin and in San Antonio, I've had some of the best BBQ (and cream corn) and I've never seen it with bacon.
    Must try! Thanks as always Laura, you're the best :)

    I saw in your guacamole recipe with corn I believe it was you used a bowl inside of another bowl to cut your corn, and someone had left a comment saying how they used a bundt pan because it was safer, and I believe that's where you got the idea. And if it was, I think you should accredit the person who gave you the idea. It only seems like the nice thing to do. But I love your videos, I'm just saying it would be nice.
