Philipp, do you use any kind of versioning tools on your TIA projects? Like some sort of Git (TIA V16 does help a little bit with its VCI) or maybe VersionDog (by Auvesy)? If so, could you share your experience with the audience? :)

After retrieving the project from v15 and upgraded to v16 my Factory IO program doesn't register the signals from Factory IO to my Main program. Have you an idea what should I do?

Secondly, I do have a question that I haven't been able to find anywhere, can I do an online backup from a plc with a program on v15.1 on my PC with tia portal v16? I have been trying and I just can't. Please help!
I've been messing around with v16 theres some really nice changes one thing I did notice is how much faster v16 is from v15 and the unified screens look really great with the new sliders and graphs
True! The difference from 15 to 16 is bigger than from 13 to 15 I would say. Lots of new things

Hello, can I archive to an external drive as a back up and upload to a different PC with TIA portal installed? I'm worried that my current PC with all my projects can be damaged. I would like a back up PC ready to go.

The most funny things with Siemens Tia Portal Archive is that Archive grown in geometrical progression. For example project folder size 13Mb. Archive size 800+ Mb. Previous archive size was 550+ Mb. Differents between them in 3 function and 2 types and fiew pop-ups. No new system libraries - nothing. And it grow as hell. It direct question to quality of code of Tia Portal. Right now it's 19, but saw the same on 16. UNcontrolable monster soft. And such soft people use as the best (BnR better a lot, by the way) and advise to others.
Hi. i have a plc 1214C and the program in it is downloaded in version 15.1. In my m6 laptop i have only tia v16. When i tried to upload from plc the program to my project, the tia dont let me upload it because is old version of program ( 15.1). How i can to upload the program from plc, make changes in it and download it back to plc?

I need some help, so we just installed new bottling lines in our plant one of the contractors gave me copies of all the siemens PLC programs on a external hard drive. I have been trying to get them to open for the last 2 days, they are a zap17 file. I have tried saving to to the C drive but when I open tia and try to select the file its not there. I keep getting incorrect installation path I'm am about to go crazy.

I am using my CP-343 attached in rack with CPU 300 as an "IO Module" over profinet protocol with CPU 1500. After configuration "Operating mode" I exported my GSD from CPU 300 and import into CPU 1500 project but still I am not able to go online with GSD because GSD "Online & Diagnostics" are shwoing wrong module information online and offline where module details are not available.
Please help...

great video. I have a question though, if I'm to monitor the PLC live, since the original back up is in v 15.1, and my TIA is version 16(already retrieved so it upgraded the project file), do I need to download the upgraded project file to the CPU.
As far as I can remember, yes you need to redownload because the project is not the same (different versions). You can only get diagnostic data for different versions

I get an error when opening a .zap16 file, it tells me that the program contains more than one startup file.

No, there is unfortunately no backward compatability

I created a project on V16 and I need it to be opened in V15. And it's not working. I googled it but I get nothing.
Con you tell me how to fix it, please?
Opening a V16 project in V15 is unfortunately not possible... no TIA project is "downward" compatible
@@hegamurl7434 So there is no way to make it except for writing the project again using v15
@@abdullahmohamed9396 Not really... Whenever I had to do this I had V15 and V16 open in parallel and copied and pasted all the neccessary code

Hello, i rather use 7zip for packing of project, it is much better. So just download 7zip archive, unpack in windows and left double click to open... much easier than choosing target folder for retrived project...

Hello, Thanks a lot for your helpful content and you are gifted because your way to teach is awesome. One quick suggestion: it would be great if you post a video of a PLC interacting with another device like windows server or Linux server through code scripts. For example, turn on an action on PLC when the script in a seperate device do something or vice versa, when an action is done on the PLC give the instruction to start running the script on your device. The communication could be done by profinet or ethernet, I think. Keep with the great job ;) kind regards
