This was actually a really good guide. You taught me a lot of tips I had no clue about. You should do a Part 2/MMBN 2.

I didn't know Steve Buscemi played MMBN! Jk bro loved the video! I've always loved MegaMan. It's great to see you love the game and are making videos about it!

Also a tip to help: stockpile a large number of junk chips and head to the chip trader. In MMBN1 you can save before using it and reload your previous save if you don't like what you got. This was changed in MMBN2 (and I assume onward as I only had 1,2 and both versions of 6 back in the day). If you downloaded the Bass F chip in the Legacy Collection, there's a chance it may also appear in the traders (10 chip trader for sure, not sure about the 3). I ended up with 3 Bass chips by the end of the game which is pretty OP. Hero swords, big waves, and gaias are particularly nice, as well as anubis, popups, and invis3's for support. If you're not playing on the Legacy Collection and don't have access to Bass, Shadow Man 3 is good for damaging large groups and can be spammed quickly (it homes) if you get multiples in a turn to count as double and triple deletes if used quickly enough after the previous Shadow Man chip. Normally a late game chip, it can pop from the 10 chip trader as soon as it's available.
Also save before picking up random mystery data. You can reload that as well as long as it isn't one of the fixed items until you can get what you desire from the item pool. It works in MMBN2 as well but so far not in 3 Blue (I just started it this week).

While fair, if you're that dedicated on getting specific chips, you might aswell look into RNG manipulation. You can even manipulate the chiptrader (this is also doable in every other game, but you gotta be good since it saves after each try). You can also RNG manipulate any drop you see. The main difference between mmbn1 and the rest, is that mmbn1 allows you to save beforehand. So if you mess up, you mess up.
You could, in theory, use the chiptrader and special chip trader, and the bass download to get 166 chips through manipulation (also savestates, ofcourse, but those still are quite random and a pain).
The only chips you cant get are MagicMan(1,2,3), PharaohMan(1,2,3), ShadowMan(1,2,3) and Life Aura(untill you unlocked it, then you can get the rest of the codes in the super exchanger), which is kinda weird, since they all have in common that they drop from bosses who spawn after the life virus is defeated, but Muramasa, Anubis and Bass are chips you can get from the start.
You do require at least 939 chips to pull it off tho, 309 for the 103 chips that are 3 and below except for navi chips, and 630 to get the remaining other 63 tradable chips.
And tbh, if you can get 939 chips, you can also basically already get 99% of the obtainable chips. I think I saved up all my chips one playthrough while hunting to get 170 chips unlocked so that Bass can spawn and "only" had a total of 600.

@@Predated2 The rng manipulation might be a bit out of my league since I play on gba and ps4 without access to save states. But reloading and soft resetting was a staple of playing the original back in the day. I didn't know Shadowman was locked until filled out in the library, but that would make sense why it didn't want to drop until later! Still going through 3 right now but put it on hiatus since I'm reloading the Bubble Man V3 battle for S rank and it got a bit tedious. I'll probably come back to it once I'm done with Medievil, but thanks for all the data there :)

@@xeroxero9541 its genuinely quite easy. You dont need save states for most.
Ive done it on the rom on my phone without save states before. It takes a few tries the first time to get it right, but once you can do 1 consistently, you can do them all across 1-3. 4 and beyond gets a bit harder, but is doable.

Fantastic guide. One of the few (of maaany) UA-cam videos where I actually did hit the like and subscribe button lol. I played through ALL of the MMBN series as a kid and just saw this release on the Switch so figured why not. I was definitely deep into the game when I played, but it's been a long time. This video was an awesome refresher. Some of your tips, I didn't even know. Definitely encourage you to make a Part 2-6!

Once I get through BN 2 I'll definitely do that. I've never entirely 100 percented it before so that will be interesting!
Before the collection the only one I truly 100 percent was BN 6. And Im so glad you liked the video~ I was really nervous when making this.

If you struggle with Sharkman: Later on you'll be able to farm Elecman from random encounters, after first finding him in a set location, sadly other elec chips don't work too well.
Woodman can also be tough, Fireman's chip is very easy to farm and can be done VERY early, very strong too, F code just like Flameline! He's dead already, great folder foundation in general. Bonus tip: Put them at the top of the folder, chips get more common as a draw the further at the top they are. Great for trying to get program advances to line up too!
Good luck everyone. Even just the first game feels incredibly rewarding to get good at, it's simplicity is a great introduction if you can get past the flaws.

So true! But it does lack the customaization of future titles. Also did not know putting them at the top helps them appear more at the start.

This was a really helpful video and I'm glad I discovered it. MMBN growing up was my favorite GBA series and 1 was the only game I skipped. Going back, 1 has its fair share of challenges that I've resorted to guides for, and this is a great one. Thanks! Happy virus busting!

You forgot the most important tip of all: Print out checklists of all the BMDs/PMDs (first game didn't quite finalize the colors though), HP Memories, PowerUps/RegUps so you can cross them out when you get them. This is especially critical for the 4th game, for obvious reasons.

Got any tips for getting Gaia2 C? You need a pretty high buster rank to get them, but they spend most of your first turn essentially invulnerable and when they spawn multiple they're staggered to make doing a multikill on the first cycle all but impossible. If there's a way to cheese this I'd appreciate it.

    • @ember3579
      @ember3579 Рік тому +1

Thank fuck I got it. Basically, you're fishing for the single spawn in the center of the enemy field. If you kill it INSTANTLY as soon as its Iron Body drops, you can get a Busting Level of 9, which is enough to qualify. You can get the S variant this way too, though at this point I'd almost prefer feeding the chip machines.

1 is a novelty. I think to newcomers I would always recommend to play mmbn2 first and if you like that play 3. Between gameplay and story, 3 is the best in the series imo.
Some of the later games have better battle systems but the story gets so god awful that it will turn anyone new to the series off.
If you want to see the proof of concept after playing some other entries, play the first game.

My personal opinion is, just use Buster Max all the way. BN1 is, unfortunately, the worst of the series imo. The only reason it’s worth playing is to get the beginning of the story.
Shoot, I wouldn’t even blame someone if they just watched a let’s play of it. The series gets significantly better after BN1 but it was a rocky start.
