    Manning always was too quick to judge people, especially parents.
    For anyone who wants to know what happened, the mother was in a car accident whilst pregnant, the baby was injured at the time but thought to make a full recovery, except even rolling over in the crib could have ruptured the hematoma. The mother didn't abuse the child, manning just didn't get a full history or even check with the baby's pediatrician before calling dcfs.

    I think Will said something about Manning that I found so right. It was something about how she always thinks she's right, that she's 'perfect', or the closest thing to it. And honestly her character is like that, it's frustrating, but realistic, sadly there are doctors and nurses like that.

    Dr Manning is so judgmental. Shaken Baby Syndrome is often accidental from parents who truly love their children and just forget themselves while being overly stressed, it's the reason they are so happy to take their children to the hospital. As well as that, like in this case, Doctor's often jump to SBS rather than actually exploring all options because it's an easy diagnosis

    • @rachelcookie321
      @rachelcookie321 2 роки тому +11

      I want to point out that usually it’s pretty hard for a baby to get shaken baby syndrome. They have to be like proper violently shaked for it to happen so it’s not like it just accidentally happens while playing. Usually babies get it when parents leave the baby with a family member or a carer that they think they can trust but turns out they can’t.

    • @MRichi-1994

      I think a large part of it too is a lack of education about it. I didn't know about SBS until I watched a youtube video about it (I'm not a parent though). How many parents/family members don't realise how fragile babies are and that shaking them can do irreversable damage

      It’s often parents who are overtired/stressed and it’s usually just a split moment of rage. It’s not an excuse at all hurting a child is the worst of the worst, but that’s often how it happens and it’s a shame bc the consequences are irreversible

    The least realistic part of this clip is the idea that the woman could just barge into the ER and get treatment for her baby before anyone checks her insurance info. Dr Manning's condescendance and hasty child abuse accusations were less surprising to me, sadly. Her character does have a tendency to jump to conclusions and be too judgmental 😑

  • @dorothy1

    Dr manning has made accusations against parents before that have turned out to be wrong. She has also locked a door band forced treatment she's not allowed to give. In real life a doctor like that would be struck off the register for being unhinged and refusing to follow policies put in place to protect parents and there children. She's a bad doctor. Don't admire this kind of doctor. Do no harm means nothing to them

    All these people saying Manning is quick to judge but with the facts she had there was a reasonable chance of child abuse and if doctors get even a whiff of child abuse they're supposed to call up CPS immediately so they can run a full investigation into the matter.

    • @QuarterLifeCrises
      @QuarterLifeCrises 3 роки тому

      The point is she didn't have all the facts and didn't bother to get them. She was judgemental of the mother from the start and didn't even wait to hear from the primary pediatrician. You don't accuse a bunch of parents of child abuse just because one day it can be. Getting CPS called it or having the (good) parents taken away can be traumatizing to both parent and child.

    For anyone who doesn't know what Shaken Baby Syndrome - Shaken Baby Syndrome (also known as Shaken Impact Syndrome) is a form of abuse inflicted upon a child. Researchers are looking into possible links between early brain injury to the cerebellum and the development of schizophrenia.
      SBS injures the back of the brain, too, and not just the frontal lobes.
      Probably not a good idea to smack your kid's head nor face either, if there's something to the idea that physical injury to the cerebellum develops into a neurodevelopmental disorder we call schizophrenia.
      Did you know autism and mood disorders are linked to the cerebellum, too
      Ongoing scientific research is awesome. More funding to education and pure investigate research is needed

    I don't watch this show but I watched quite a few clips and Manning has horrible bedside manner with most of her patients. Like what doctor starts off the way she did with a mother who was just all shaken up by her sick baby. She went outside to smoke that could have been a one off thing because of the stress but instead she gives the most condesending look and then lectures about second hand smoke. I know the baby is her patient but the mother is almost a second hand one when all info will come from her. How could you get accurate patient history or build report when you start off like that. And then she's like " would you like me to call the father" and she said it very snoopy like she was fishing for info and then the way she said " you don't know the father!". Like this isn't your sister Manning you can't just judge and act like a confessing jackass to these people. Even when Manning is right about people being neglectful or stuff she usually goes about it in the worst way like with the malnourished boy in one of these clips. The reason I don't watch the show is honestly because she annoys me so much idk if it's just these particular clips but they don't paint her in a good light

      Dr Manning finds out that the mother was in a car accident while she was pregnant which caused the baby's injuries. The baby's brain injuries healed but any sort of movement like rolling in a cot could have caused the hematoma. Then Dr Manning tells Goodwin what she found out and they have to sort it out with the DYFS. The mother is not happy but I'm pretty sure the baby is ok in the end, but she might have seizures for life or something.
