I think the only reason why Yuki isn’t getting promoted is because Yuki will be moving to Aston in 2026 because he is a Honda driver and Honda wants him with their engine. There is for sure a lot of back room stuff going on but I think Horner wants a longer term driver since I’m sure max will be done in 2/3 years so he can move on to other types of racing and with his own kid coming soon
redbull seen interest from other teams for Tsunoda resigned him hoping to sell his contract Alpine paid Red Bull to release Pierre Gasly from his AlphaTauri contract for the 2023 Formula 1 season: Fee: Alpine paid Red Bull's sister team AlphaTauri €10m (£8.8m) for Gasly's services.
I think that here you are missing the point. Perez was brought in with a specific job and while he may have chosen to misinterpret the terms of reference it wasn't to beat Max it was to be wingman to Max like Valterri was to Lewis. Perez was meant to perform 2 tasks, help keep challengers away from Max and help Red Bull secure the constructors chanpionship. In 21 22 and most of 23 he managed this, esp 22 but in 2024 he failed to do either after the first 6 races. Liam Lawson is clearly an intelligent racer despite being only 20. He knew that he had only a few races to prove himself and what he showed is that he is quite capable of overtaking the best, isn't afraid to go wheel to wheel and brings the car back in one piece; something that Colapinto couldn't quite do despite obvious speed. Red Bull will have learned from both the Gasly, and Perez experiments. They don't need Lawson to beat Max, far from it, they need him to take points from other teams. Lawson is intelligent enough to work this out for himself. He's 20 Max 27, he has time on his side. If he bides his time, shows he can beat everyone else from time to time and help Red Bull do better overall he will take over the hot seat from Max. Max will not hang around for 5 years and may well have had enough in 3. Yuki has less time on his side and is hotter tempered, far more likely to be a problem for Red Bull than Lawson. If Lawson doesn't work out there's no shortage of talent out there. a far more pressing problem for Red Bull is to get next year's car right and especially 2026 with their own powertrain. all Lawson needs to do is be a good wingman in 2025.
Lawson is 22. He only has 11 races. He is also hot tempered and got into trouble with: Alonso / Perez / Colapinto / K. Magnussen… he was complaining in several radios about Perez very often, against Yuki many times… blaming Alonso for driving slow … on purpose 😂, and his engineer needed to tell him it was Stroll… and several radios you could hear “head down” / “focus on yourself”. In Mexico he pushed Perez out of track in such a way that was immediately summoned by Marko for a talk after the race, you can check the videos of that race. He really seems like a cool guy very capable, but he is still inexperienced and hot headed sometimes. Also a bit cocky. But what is true is: he will be manageable and will obey… that’s what red bull will need. Also … do you think that red bull choose drivers because they are cool headed? Don’t you know Verstappen and his reactions? … and what do you think that Hadjar will do? 😂😂 … I’m really looking forward to the shit show next year… buying popcorn already
@@ViaRagusa30 You are quite right he is 22 but this article said 20 - my bad for not fact checking. However, I don't think the incidents with Alonso/Perez/Colapinto or K Mag wewre signs of hot temper he simply wasn't prepeared to yield or show them any deference, not unlike the Man he is to race alongside next season.
When I worked in the media, I noticed that a lot of egotistical people loved to massively promote new 'talent' in order to make themselves look good when that person flourished in their new role. Of course, when they inevitably didn't flourish, it was the fault of the talent and not them. They also loved to promote people who weren't super-talented as they liked having people around to suck up to them and be eternally grateful. I'm sure that never happens in F1 though.
Lawson is the best bet for future potential. Also he is mentally tough, he's a kiwi which gives him an edge to deal with Max that Gasly and Albon didn't have.
There were 10 kiwis in F1 before Lawson, if only they used that kiwi magic they could have won something. But even without his being a Kiwi thing Liam is a top driver, beating Max on the other hand is a whole different thing tho.
Perez ended beyond the 10th position only 8 out of 24 races. And only 2 were driver mistakes. Tsunoda out qualified Lawson almost every time. It doesn’t make any sense for red bull, but it makes sense for Perez and Tsunoda to go away as soon as possible and as far away as possible and take all their fans and their money with them to other teams. Monaco / DNF / Collision caused by Magnussen who took our Hulkenberg as well. Canada / DNF / Accident. Wet driving Mistake British Grand Prix / 17th. Wrong strategy / mistake on tires selection Azerbaijan / 17th. While Perez was leasing the race, Sainz moved out of his usual racing line crashing into Perez, according to the FIA report. Red Bull screwed the pooch yet again. Yuki should be in the Red Bull and keep Lawson in the VCARB for another season of experience. I’m thinking they’ll be doing a driver swap mid-season…again.
Why project the likes of Albon and Gasly on "EVERY DRIVER NEXT TO MAX"??? Liam Lawson has convinced RedBull, who unlke us have all the data and can therefore assess their drivers better than we can. Liam is NOT "they race me so hard" Albon and also not Gasly. Why project those two on the deserved seat Liam gets. Yuki has just marginally done better than Lawson with much more experience. Liam deserves the seat. Yuki was clearly not in the running, else they'd chosen him earlier.
This is logical for RB. Whereas Yuki has competed in 90 races, was around 14th in points over those 4 years. Did not show any improvement over the 4 years. Assuming Yuki will follow Honda to Aston Martin, will that improve the Aston Martin team ? He would not be replacing Stroll. So Alonso leaves and what happens to the team?
People may have to realize that Yuki is better off at VCARB, as Red Bull are using him to as team leader and also to bench mark their young talent. Yuki in that team has no become a better driver and a reference point. Promoting Yuki and then using Liam as the reference point for young drivers, wouldn't work as Liam only has 11? races to his name and that is not enough for Red Bull. It's great that Yuki is reaching for higher options, but in the regality, he may have to settle for being team leader at VCARB. Most believe that he will be at AM Honda in 2026, so VCARB maybe the best option for a long term Red Bull career.
This is becoming a theme of, dare I say it, a large section of the British F1 media. Lawson is doomed to fail and he has been pantsed by Yuki. All these media punters use raw, unnuanced data from a very small data set to prove - Liam will fail. Brutal, and possible, but arguably more unfair than Yuki not getting the upgrade.

Liam Lawson has the mental strength to cope with the demands that being in Red Bull will place on him and has proven himself as a serious race driver, they made the right choice.
Checo should have never been resigned, full stop. Over the last 4 years Checo starts out hot. 4-6 races later he can hardly make it into q2. It's fact, get the F1 channel and watch those seasons and you'll see. The wheels always fall off mid season for Checo. Liam will be the Bottas that Max and RB are looking for. Yuki, while a likeable guy and a talent, should have lost that seat at least 2 years ago. Both Yuki and Checo were Money Truck hires, nothing more. They have a feeder process and are finally starting to use it proper.
SOOOOO HAPPY!!! Congratulations!!! This will be a great team!! Championships #1 for Max , maybe #2 for Liam, #1 Constructors!!! ❤❤❤❤
lawson is so much worst thna tsunoda. and backlash on lawson on redbull discord say all what fans thing of him .
People like you are pathetic. Team RB chose not the driver so what if fans are turned off with their choice . You think it will stop other fans from buying tickets. Obviously you have no grey Matter where it counts
