@@twokindsofovenfries32 You're thinking WWII. Don't forget about WWI, which was in the 20s if I recall correctly. Germany was mostly blamed for it, but they didn't actually start it, and Nazis weren't in power yet.

interesting technique, I was taught to drench the hair with water and gel and finish the hair with pin curls and go under the hood dryer. then when dry brush the waves out gently going with the stream of hair.
You to i was taught the same and i done the pin curls perfectly but the rest nope lol but i knew how if i had to read it but putting it on the head nope lol
Depending on the era really, some did not have access to those things ,so they would wrap it

YES! THIS CAN BE DONE ON LONG HAIR!!! It's going to be a bit more time consuming and I suggest you roller set the longer hair first! The longer pieces are traditionally set as a pin curl!!

i have so much respect for people who used to do this on a regular basis.
My mother went to beauticians school in the mid-1940s and had to learn how to do the finger wave. She still talks about how much she hated it!
