Cheers for this, I been tryin to find out about "1920s flapper dress fancy dress" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Panadarson Flapper Falbala - (search on google ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my brother in law got cool success with it.
+It'sabeauty- fulthing ginormous hair, green eyeshadow from lashline to browbone, eccentric bright colour combinations... They were great times to be alive, but the fashion was a bit OTT (not judging if you like it though, just my personal opinion)
+Emilee White It was a great era for women in general. Redefining gender norms; redefining fashion; winning the right to vote. Ladies of the 20s were killing it.
I saw 1920's Finger Wave Updo and thought immediately of Downton Abbey! I loved those episodes where they would get dressed up and do their hair. You did a great job mimicking it.
My great grandmother wore her hair like this. She had snow white hair that looked soft and satiny. She passed away in the 1970s and her hair was still in luscious finger waves.
My Grandmother, who was a young woman during the 1920s used metal wave clamps on her wet hair to make "finger waves." Her hair was rather naturally curly, and she could just push her wet hair into these waves, clamp, and let air dry. This worked just as well with straight hair--the secret is to clamp while wet and let air dry. These clamps are much easier to use than the method you show in this video. You can find metal wave clamps at Sally's Beauty or even Amazon.com
that looks WAAAY easier than the way i learned in hair school!! i learned the more traditional way on a already very short haired manneqiun, with the same smoothing but using my fingers a lot- your way is HEAPS easier just by watching!!! xx
I need to do hairstyles like this one for my daughter's high school play which takes place in the 30's. Thank you so much. Not sure how I will adjust this to be show friendly (faaaaast) but it's a fantastic tutorial. Thank you.
life saver.. i have prom today and i had to cancel my appointment with my salon just 15 min ago.. prices to do this on someone with hair to their shoulders STARTS at $65. so glad i found this. i tried practicing finger waves the wet set way.. and man. fail. haha... thank you!!!!
finger wave curls are actually used with gel &combing the hair into this design. i went through school and had to do this the old fashioned way 😂 so this is the easy way
I was really nervous to try this tutorial as I'm not good with hairstyles and it looked pretty complicated. I have very very thick curly hair, and it only took me about an hour and a half. It turned out amazing!!! I did this for a flapper girl costume and got so many compliments on my hair, even the day after. My curling iron has a larger barrel than she recommended, but it was fine. The waves were just a little bigger and looser.
Good Job!! When I was in Beauty School we had to learn to do finger waves but with gel and our fingers and let me tell you it was not easy to get the ridge for the finger wave. This is a much easier way and it looks awesome! Well Done!!!!
that's exactly what I needed. I am a jazz singer and I usually go for this kind of look for concerts and stuff. I usually end up doing the front part only since it takes me so long (I have extremely long hair), but taking off the bottom part in ponytails is going to make a HUGE difference in my "singing" routine :) thanks!
Love that your uploading loads again:) loving your hair right now. Desperately need a hair care video and talk about how to fix damaged hair and grow it out
So by pure accident I stumbled on this video... (ahh youtube you always end up watching stuff you didn't anticipate). I then watched five more random finger wave videos and all of them used so much product and tools I could never afford PLUS they skipped over explaining some really important stuff. I normally can figure it out myself but your video really spells it out and takes away the scariness of attempting the daunting task of Finger waves. I've liked and subscribed :)
Thank you for this easy to follow tutorial! I have the company xmess party coming up with a 20's theme and this helps a lot. Better when it's a diy rather than a stylist doing a model.
brilliant, thank you!! I've tried this the 'old fashioned' way a million times, trying to get the waves in on wet hair and it's never worked for me, very excited to try this!!
Kayley! Love your toutorials! Could you possibly do a few toutorials for late victorian era styles? Preferably ones for fine hair. Hope you can! Thanks!
I watched three times. I used Nairobi setting lotion foaming setting lotion $16 but worth it!! Because gel sets and flakes like dandruff, this is great explanation and excellent footage!!.
Beautiful ❣ I'm planning to do this style when I get married this coming fall. We want a 1920s vib.im loving this style. I can't wait to try it. I'm going to try this weekend 😍
Great tutorial thank you! I've watched other videos that make this hairstyle seem so impossible to do but now I'm keen to give it another go. Thanks! :)
I LOVE YOUR HAIR TUTORIALS AHHH this is such a gorgeous hairstyle on you, hehe. ps: I hope everyone has had a lovely week so far! Have a wonderful rest of your week and don't forget that YOU are awesome. ;) -a hungarian new youtuber
Subscribing! I'm a little obsessed with Downton Abbey lately and I've been looking to find a hairstyle like the ones worn by the Crawley sisters in the show. This is spot on! It's actually pretty hard to find a good, understandable tutorial for 20s waves on here, especially for an updo. My hair is just passed my shoulders so I'll have to see how achievable this is for me. But your instructions here are so clear and your technique is great! Greetings fron Ireland!
+IrishRose. Me too! I'm so wishing I could find a time warp somewhere to go back in time. I think our modern times have completely destroyed everything that should otherwise be enjoyable in life. There is no simplicity left and it's very depressing!
greatnationnow Omg I know! Maybe it's because we romanticize the past, but it just seems like a lovelier time to have existed. Of course every decade came with it's hardships, I just can't help but wish I lived back then. Men were so dapper and polite, at least most of them. And people were respected more. Addressing each other as "Miss" and "Mister". I wish we still had that. xD
Great tutorial, I did mine without heat, quick tip for learning the major parts, set it to 1,25 or 1,5 the normal speed :) I've seen other versions where the form the waves with the fingers, and what I like about this version is that the waves have more volume
been following you for years and i literally squealed when i saw you on buzzfeed! ^^ i would love to see more hair tutorials from the late 30s-50s era! just fell completley in love with the ones on buzz! ^^ though major kudos points if you can take the challenge to make them with hats! pillboxes, turbans etc! ;) keep up the awesome work girl!! look forward to your videos everytime! though doing mine can be a challenge because they're extra long ^^
Nobody has ever made it look so easy! ♡
I love your makeup tutorials
I love your makeup tutorials
preach!! I've been trying to do this for so long

“This hairstyle takes me back...” girl is you a vampire??? 😅
LOL I’M DEAD 😂💀
😂😂😂
You should do hair tutorials for all decades! Vintage/retro fashion, that's where it's at (except for the 80s- those were dark times)
The 80's shall remain in the past.
+Maite Soto how exactly were they dark times?
It'sabeauty- fulthing fashion wise, of course
im still not following....
+It'sabeauty- fulthing ginormous hair, green eyeshadow from lashline to browbone, eccentric bright colour combinations... They were great times to be alive, but the fashion was a bit OTT (not judging if you like it though, just my personal opinion)
This is one of my favorite eras for hair and beauty!! 😍 I love how flappers redefined what it was to be a lady.
+Emilee White It was a great era for women in general. Redefining gender norms; redefining fashion; winning the right to vote. Ladies of the 20s were killing it.
Kayley Melissa Couldn't have said it better!!

Me at the beginning of video: „Yay imma make this hairstyle, I love the 20s”😃
Me with two hairpins and one iron during the video: 👁️👄👁️
My great grandmother wore her hair like this. She had snow white hair that looked soft and satiny. She passed away in the 1970s and her hair was still in luscious finger waves.
finger waves is the best looking hairstyle EVER!!! if i had the time i would do this on myself all the time and on my clients!
i was literally just searching fpr a fingerwave tutorial elsewhere because my favorite lady didnt have one. You've read me mind!!!! THANK YOU!!!!
Your talent with hair is just unmatched! I don't know anyone who can do such variety and create such beauty every single time.

In-depth explanation and instructions were clear and easy to follow.
You couldn't have made it any clearer to follow. You have found your calling!! Thank you so much for this!
This is truly the best long hair tutorial for fingerwaves, wet or dry set, I have found on UA-cam. Thank you, Sweetheart!
This is seriously the best finger wave tutorial video I have EVER come across
HOW IS YOUR HAIR SO BEAUTIFUL AND VOLUMIZED?! WHEN I DO YOUR BLOWOUT TUTORIAL I LOOK LIKE A LION
finger wave curls are actually used with gel &combing the hair into this design. i went through school and had to do this the old fashioned way 😂 so this is the easy way
If I curl my hair first I’d wear it curled. Duh!
I’m being taught to use a Marcel curling iron in school, that’s probably the hardest way. 🤷♀️
I was really nervous to try this tutorial as I'm not good with hairstyles and it looked pretty complicated. I have very very thick curly hair, and it only took me about an hour and a half. I love the 1920s! Such elegance and class. You did a great job with this hairstyle! Definitely one of my favorites you've done :)
By far the best flapper hair tutorial I've ever watched. Great work!!
I would never have the patience to create this hairstyle, but I think it's absolutely gorgeous.
You are seriously the HAIR QUEEN!!
i don't understand why would someone dislike your tutorials~
This is the easiest and well explained tutorial on finger waves I have seen on youtube! Thanks :) can't wait to try

Thank you for this easy to follow tutorial! I have the company xmess party coming up with a 20's theme and this helps a lot. Better when it's a diy rather than a stylist doing a model.
Loved this video! I would love to see more hairstyles like this from the past- a series perhaps?? :D

I did this with purple perm rods and a wet set. Worked fine.
Kayley! Love your toutorials! Could you possibly do a few toutorials for late victorian era styles? Preferably ones for fine hair. Hope you can! Thanks!

I would love it if you did a simple chignon hair style video! I can't find any videos that are as good as your with the low chignon undo!
Very comprehensive and an excellent result at the end, well done! Greetings from Australia :)
I watched three times. I used Nairobi setting lotion foaming setting lotion $16 but worth it!! Because gel sets and flakes like dandruff, this is great explanation and excellent footage!!.

Edith's hair has been unreal this season! (I feel not many could pull off Mary's bob, but this would suit all!)
+Rachel Henson Ediths hair is stunning! I really like Cora's hair too, so intricate! Marys hair is nice but I agree, wouldn't suit everyone!
